  • Do you have any "issues" with GPS telemetry pick-up with any of these devices? I guess what I'll looking for, is someone to say "Yep, I know that live in a marginal satellite reception area, & have noticed the receiver on the (insert device here) seems to work the best".
  • In the gym, I do every-day strength training (divided into lower, than upper body every-other-day, each, Cybex Eagle machine workouts), and everyday cardio as a warm-up (at least). I also try to go out and run/bike/walk in the evenings every-other-day, if I can. Not sure if this "is recommended" - but it makes sense to me.
  • The dry prescription cat food begins to smell good!
  • I can feel your pain, I've "been stuck" for coming on 6 weeks, and it's tempting to try "a magic pill" to try to unstick this plateau that I'm mired-in. People may have used humor here to suggest that you just may be wasting your money, but remember, you set the tone of this thread, in-effect, by challenging others to…
  • Schmucks... OUCH! Perhaps overly naive would be a kinder term. People very desperate for change vs. advertisers without conscience... advertisers win every time.
  • After age 50, one learns to relish this... Ahhhh!!
  •
  • Your pissed-off... GOOD FOR YOU! Stay that way, but keep it in perspective - every journey starts with that first (or 11th) step. You can do this!!
  • Rice Cakes... really??? I'm a real fan of Quakes, the caramel ones taste like a real treat, and... 16 mini-cakes = 120 calories. This to me is a no-brainer! I'm also a fan of another non-food; Special K cracker/chips... 30 chips = 110 calories. I'll freely admit that neither of these can be found in nature, & I'm a…
  • It seems to me that he'll need to commit to whatever it takes to lose the weight, if he's too lazy to sign-up, won't he be too lazy to make a lifestyle change? I'm not being a smarta$$ here, either, but I wasn't able to lose till I committed to lose. It's a worthwhile struggle (IMHO), but a struggle none-the-less.
  • WOW, what a change!!! You're my "Today's Inspiration"
  • ROFL - I worked in a sub/ice cream shop during my HS years, and I've never been thinner! I can tell you that, sadly, after 20 years or so, the aversion to sub sandwiches and ice cream go away! ...Oh well!!! ;-)
  • Interesting - I have Endomondo Pro/Zephyr HRM, and it tends to read much higher than MFP. I just got back from a walk, Endomondo calculated 357kcal, whereas MFP calculates it to be 285kcal. Accoeding to Endomondo, I walked an average of 4.16 mph, so I used MFP calculations for walking at 4.0 mph - but the difference…
  • Yes, what everyone else is saying - you need to get shoes that fit properly. I had shoes that cost a bundle and looked nice & sporty when I first started to run... what a pain (literally)! It'll be worth the extra few dollars & minutes to get your shoes professionally fitted by someone who knows what they're doing & what…
  • 110% inspirational - congratulations, and thanks for sharing!!
  • ^^^ Yes, what she sez! ^^^
  • Bose has in-ear buds that have these rubber "thingys" (that's a technical term ;-) ), that hook-onto your ear's upper ridge... I have problems with regular ear buds, but these do the trick for me. They sound great, also!
  • I'm not trying to be a bonehead here - really I'm not... but I'm wondering if you should perhaps change your goal instead to something like living a healthier lifestyle in the future... forever, instead of setting a finite weight goal by a specific time? Last December, I set a goal to run in a 5K run by the spring, and…
  • More of the same, as far as advice... OK, so you had a setback - learn from it, and then move-on. Guilt doesn't do you any good. It WILL be OK!
  • Yeah, what he say!! Congratulations on an AMAZING transformation!!
  • Hmmmm, I listened to audiobooks when I first started to walk (waaay back in November ;-) ), but when I started to run, I switched to listening to music. I've taken my music mixes to the extreme; I've discovered that I run best at 156 beats/min. I've created run mixes that segue perfectly (so that my pace doesn't change),…
  • Consider resistance bands - they are compact, and really do work. I have a set of BodyLastic bands which I feel are very nice (No, I don't work for them). There's also a VERY comprehensive set of free online videos at liveexercise.com.
  • Sorry - no suggestion here, but I sure hope that someone has one... I HATE the taste of water in plastic!! Even Nalgene leaves a plastic taste in my mouth. Yuck! I think that we're going to have to buy an aluminum H2O bottle.
  • I can tell you how I tracked... Under Exercise/Cardio - I added-up total time walking & entered that as, well, walking (4mph, for me). Then I did the same for the total time that I ran, I assumed a 10-min. mile for running. C25K is a great program, you WILL succeed!! (but best of luck anyways!).
  • Mehh, learn-from, but don't fret-about it... there's nothing that you can do about it anyways. I know that once I start to obsess about overindulging at a meal, I get "the guilts" and then (yep) start to guilt-munch. Sounds stupid when explained in a sentence, but it's true - go figure. Just let it go!
  • Have perhaps considered a pare of water shoes, like what you'd wear in a rocky lake?
  • Hmmm, my intuition says that you'd be more than doubling, especially if you are stretching the bands a considerable distance. The bands only stretch so-far, before you extend beyond their normal usage limit, and meet greater resistance. I have a feeling that you'd have a different feel, by stretching 2-30lb bands, as…
  • Definitely! Still do!! You need to start thinking more selfishly - to hell with what others think. Hey, at least you want to do something about "your flabby backside", which is more than many. Go For It - C25K is Excellent!!

  • I've started using my smartphone (which isn't flawless) and am waiting for my Zephyr HxM to arrive in the mail. Does anyone know whether the Zephyr and MotoActv talk to each-other?
  • OK - I haven't been running for very long, so I have only 1 length of run at this time, which seems long to me (5K, approx 30 mins.), 2nd. song is important, because that's when I flag for some reason... Kelly Clarkson - What doesn't kill you I know - corny!
