I just have to throw in my 2 cents here, I don't think there is anything really wrong with the original post, it was intented to be helpfull, but I don't disagree with jeffwyeg either. It irks me when people say this food is 'clean' eat it, this one isin't so don't. It, to me, is a continuation of the dietary 'bad guy' of…

Your former skinny jeans are now your fat jeans and the former fat jeans don't stay up at all!

What helped me was calorie cycling (ie 1400 one day, 1700 the next, 1300 the next, 1900 etc..) and really upping the intensity in the workouts. I switched from a mild workout of 20 min on the treadmill and 20 min on the elliptical to 15 min on the treadmil at a high incline and higher speed and doing 40 min on the…

 Made me laugh..I use to blame my poor drier for all my pants not fitting, and I would NEVER EVER put on jeans straight out of the shower! Funny thing, I used to complain the drier shrunk up my jeans just enough they were too short for my legs. Tuns out after losing a chunk o' weight, the jeans were not too short,…

Ok, explain to me how something with no sugar or carbohydrate in it will spike your blood sugar..:noway: Diet sodas will not make you gain weight, they will not cause you to wreck your diet. Are they a nutritional powerhouse? Not so much, but a diet soda now and again isin't going to kill anyone. There is a study out there…

Amen. It kills me to see people force themselves to eat or drink something because it is "healthy" or "good for you". It you hate it, don't drink it that way for the love of pete,,,why force yourself to drink something you dislike? Coffee is a non issue for me, if it means an extra mile or two per week to have my LARGE cup…

Varying calories has worked for me. I did that through my entire weight loss. I never did eat all the exercise calories, I would stop losing weight if I did. Heavy exercise days I would eat more (ie more than 800 calories burned at the gym), and on the light exercise days (yoga, walking) , less. I always averaged out about…

I had something sweet most nights while losing my weight. Just finished a bowl of homemade vanilla ice cream as a matter of fact:love: If you deny yourself the things you love, and can reasonably fit it, you are setting yourself up to binge IMO. I always factored in a few extra calories to be left over at the end of the…

Most common breakfasts for me are homemade oat bread toasted topped with homemade peanut butter, half a banana (or less if toddler is really hungy:tongue: ) and a tsp of honey or oatmeal with a tbsp of peanut butter, a tbsp of chocolate chips and a 1/4 cup of sons very vanilla soy milk.

Have to agree. BMI and the "traditional' ways of calculating 'ideal' body weights are all just guesstimates, really - there are 'bigger' people that are healthier than skinny ones. I am at the upper end of the healthy BMI range at 154, but I am also very curvy (measured 36'-26'-36' the other day), with all the parts that…

I purchased the TImex T5G971 Unisex HRM from Amazon.com. I got mine for around $40, its listed right now for $54, but I have seen it go down as low as $29. Not a problem with mine, have worn it swimming, aerobics, yoga..you name it and it has worked perfectly-its big and ugly, but for 40 bucks, I don't care! There are some…

If you haven't looked into a heart rate monitor yet, you may want to. I wear mine for all my exercises, it is really usefull for pilates and yoga, because they can vary so much in intensity. I can burn between 200 to 400 calories in my weekly class, which is a combo pilates yoga class. I got my HRM on Amazon for around…

Dried beans are great. I cook mine either in my pressure cooker or on the stove. Make a big pot of soup, beans and rice, beans with grilled meat and some seasonal veggies. Lots of ways to use them and I can get a pound bag of dried beans for under a buck, which makes a lot of beans!

My goal weight was 155 and I am almost 5'8". Once I hit 155, I stopped worrying about getting the scale to go down, and more toning and improving my fitness. I think the number on the scale really depends on your body type also. I can't remeber ever being below 145...and that was when I was doing athletics in high school…

Thats what my son had for lunch today:tongue: ...I make my own english muffins, some smaller for him and some bigger for me and the hubby, top with marinara and mozzerella, whatever veggies are around. Yummy. I have started making pizzas on pita bread too, another posters suggestions, which is also very tasty!

IMO, chocolate is mandatory. It's up there with coffee, just go ahead and shoot me if I can't have it. I probably have chocolate 4-5 x a week, sometimes hot chocolate, sometimes a piece of Hersheys dark chocolate, sometimes chocolate ice cream. I just factor the calories in and enjoy. I will walk another mile to burn up…

Have you ever heard people mention 'runners high'? Exercise releases endorphins, your bods feel good hormones, which is why there are so many people once they start exercising find themselves 'addicted' to it. Give it 2 weeks of something every day, a quick walk, up and down a flight of stairs 10 times, jog in place for 15…

Well, let me say, I have moved and then some. Army wife, hubby in for a long time. I have done your drive twice pretty much. Once actually from California to Kentucky, then Kentucky to Texas, Texas to Washington State, Washington to Kentucky again, then Kentucky to Kansas...which was the shortest drive,,14 hours or so. And…

I would buy lots of frozen veggies when I was cooking for just me, that and a trip to the store to buy produce at least 1 x a week. And if I found something seasonal, like berries, I would keep out enough for me to have a few servings then freeze the rest, so it wouldn't go bad. For salads, I still buy the hearts of…

Thanks all, helps to know what others are doing. I gotta say though, some of your maintenance calories are what I am doing for weight loss now! 1400-1600 calories sounds really low to me, is that what you are getting for maintenance calories here? I am doing between 1600-1700 calories a day now for weight loss, and have…

It looks like a ProForm heart monitor, not Polar from what I was reading. But you are right, can't beat the price with a stick. My Timex works well but I have been debating upgrading. Thanks for posting!

Ha...I can do you one better..I grew up in San Diego and vividly remeber walking across the divided 2 lane busy road that connected the beach to the parking area. Well the teny tiny string holding up my little bandeau top popped off causing the whole top to flip down...while standing on the median with cars whipping by on…

HAHA! Too funny, I wonder how many men are clicking REALLY fast on this topic...I am a D on one side and a DD on the other (love pregnancy and breastfeeding...) and just bought 2 Active motion bras by Lilyette online at JC Pennys. They are closeouts and a good deal. They work pretty well for me, and don't look like they…

File it away in the memory banks..I remember trying to do the same thing years ago, not long out of school and hubby and I wanted to lump the remaining balances on our car loans together and refi to save some $$. Nope, our then bank said debt to income ratio was too high, same thing as you..due to my student loans. Few…

According to my sneak peak at the scale this am, I have met my goal of 25# lost! I am going to keep doing my thing until my "official" weigh in day Friday, but have started thinking about the transition from weight loss to weight maintenance. I would love to know what others have done, did you gradually increase calories,…

First, sorry to hack the above quote to death, but I wanted to pull out the specific above chunk..If you read the posting saying why this theroy is crap, you see it really isint crap. Confusing, but... I think the problem is the science nerds (myself included..) dont like hearing "cardio zone" and "fat burning zone",…

Oh, I have the solution for that. Go buy a new one....the one that is lost will reappear..:grumble: Never fails..Happy Hunting and Good Luck. :flowerforyou:

I really and truly think you need to get pretty stinkin anal about calories ie, logging, food scales, measuring cups and spoons, when starting out a diet, just for the education value if nothing else. Most people really do overestimate what a portion size is, and what a TBSP of something is. I can see how your system might…

[[/quote] Actually, it really isn't cr*p. Your body burns different fuel sources depending on the intensity of the exercise. That's why long distance runners often can't sprint for crap - same muscles, different fuel source. Basically the closer you get to your max heart rate, the less calories come from fat and more come…

Could it be a TOM thing? It never fails that 1 x month I will get cravings for things I normally wouldn't think twice about eating, I am more "snacky' then also. A few big glasses of water plus a nice long walk/run/yoga etc usually kicks cravings for me, not to mention it gets me away from the pantry.:flowerforyou:
