From the article: As little as I think of Dr. Oz, I would hope the U.S. First Amendment is more important than keeping a quack's mouth shut.

Losing weight is a physical process but the obstacles are mental. “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.” ― Henry Ford

I lost 50 pounds and gained 25 back, then lost it again. Seems that for me, as soon as I quit tracking calories, I quit thinking about what I eat and gain weight. The moral is: Whatever it is you are doing to lose weight (tracking calories, lowering carbs, working out maniacally etc) you will gain it back once you stop…

I lost a lot of weight once. Then I gained much of it back. I had a moment when I realized what I had done and became very angry at myself. It drove me to get back in shape. I try and relive how awful that moment was to motivate myself.

I deleted several former friends just the other day... not on MFP, in real life.

I don't get migraines but my wife of 31 years does. So does my son, who is about your age. It's been an ongoing battle for my wife. The latest is exhaustive testing for allergies. I wish I had more to offer.

For some people, weighing only once a week is preferable but for another reason. A lot of people are devastated by the unexpected increases that may be nothing more than water retention. Others, including me, weigh every day precisely because of the fluctuations. By weighing daily and averaging weekly, we are able to…

You might be overestimating your deficit but it's hard to say. A month is a short time. Keep doing what you're doing and come back in a month. ;-)

I like spinach a lot. Sometimes I cook it but usually not.

This is interesting to me. I eat meat maybe once every six weeks or so and don't give it a thought.

Yes: Keep up the great work. You're making progress.

Both but personality first. If the personality is there, I can bend my physical standards to fit. If the person has a repulsive personality, the best physique in the world can't overcome it.

Sometimes I re-read this.

The database is comprised of contributions by MFP members. They are all over the map in terms of units of measurement and for that matter, accuracy.

Quit bragging.

I'm into classic films. I'm thinking "Rear Window" (1954) or "It Happened One Night" (1934)

I bought large tomatoes at a farmer's market last weekend for fifty cents each. Corn on the cob was six for a dollar. Now admittedly, farmer's markets aren't open year round. Even so, I just don't find fruits, and vegetables expensive compared to processed food.

Woo hoo! You look great!

Great! Taking the time to celebrate is very important. Way to go! :drinker:

I did it by never looking beyond one day. I too got depressed thinking it would take me months to be successful. Once I got it in my head that I could be s success my first day and every day, I felt more in control. Any failed days were isolated incidents and I was a success the next day.

Kudos to you for pushing past your squeamishness. Blood and needles have no effect on me so giving blood is easy but I did nothing to earn that, it was just how I was born. Good luck!

Great job! Congratulations!

I'd just end up spending even more time at the gym. Who wants to come home to that?

You can't so stop acting like a collector perv instead of trying not to appear to be one.

23 days is too short a time to expect major results. It's not uncommon to lose weight quickly the first week because of water loss. Just keep at it and be patient.

Congratulations on your success.

Mexican is in first place. I don't do Chinese but am game for anything else.
