Late introduction - Before and After Pictures
I've been lurking around this place since last November but never posted an introduction. I lost 35-40 pounds and have been on maintenance a while. 35-40 is nothing dramatic I know but a big deal to me. I didn't think to take "before" pictures and since I was avoiding cameras, there aren't many. I did find one though.…

Staying motivated in maintenance mode
I began in November 2011 and was in maintenance mode by May 2012. Staying motivated is harder the longer I do this. Once before, I lost weight by tracking my food intake and once I hit maintenance I figured I was now trained to eat properly and could just estimate. Well, I could, but I lost focus and gained much of it…

Advice from Bluto
I've been reading too much negativity at MFP lately. People discouraged and thinking of quitting. They think maybe it's over! Bluto: What? Over? Did you say "over"? Paleolithic diet seems so extreme. What about this idea?
I get the idea about eating like a caveman and all that, but why go all the way back to the Paleolithic era? I mean, did someone experiment with the Mesolithic diet and go: "Well, that didn't work, let's try the Paleolithic Era." For goodness sake they used stones for hunting and lived under housing made of tree branches!…

NY Times: How Accurate Are Fitness Trackers
I don't use any fitness tracker myself, but I see from my friends that it tends to motivate users and even if that's all they did, they would be worthwhile. Fitness tracker brands include Fitbit, Nike+, FuelBand and others. This NY Times article says that when you are exercising strenuously, they are accurate. But when you…

Salt Kills
All kinds of things are claimed to be unsafe on MFP forums without any scientific evidence at all let alone proof. This isn't proof, but it is scientific evidence that all that salt people eat is killing some of them. Headline: Harvard salt study shows 2.3 million related deaths worldwide in 2010 March 22, 2013 - 08:40 am…
