I measure EVERYTHING! I use a food scale and measuring spoons and cups for everything that crosses my lips. Seems that one of the major problems of people who are not losing is that the are (under)estimating thier calorie intake and over estimating what they burn.

You willbuild at least some muscle, but the fat will come from where ever your body decides..

There is a search function on the top of the screen. This question has been asked numerous times and you are sure to find great recommendations already posted in the forums. Personally I recommend polar. I have two and I am very pleased! Good luck

It is a matter of calories in and calories out. You need to MEASURE EVERYTHING that passes your lips (not estimate) and have good estimates of your caloric burn (i.e. use a good heart rate monitor). Despite all the anecdotal comments on here that you are not loosing because you have too great a deficit, that has never ever…

I never knew that! Thanks. This ranks up there with when I figured out what NSV meant!

Set your goals by the instructions on the site and then stick with it! Don't just guess at a calorie level and expect to have positive results. You also might benefit from a heart rate monitor to better determine how much you are burning with exercise. Good luck

This is me. I could wolf down a box of cereal with milk in a single sitting. I just have to know that cereal is not for me!

If you are really starving, drink 8 to 12 ounces of water and wait 20 minutes. If you're still hungry, have a low call snack. I like broccoli or sliced bell pepper as a snack. I also LOVE chocolate PB2. I also find that exercise cuts my appetite.

because you add in your exercise on MFP. Those other sites likely already include an exercise allotment

Thanks everyone. I know I was inspired by others successes and I hope my results will spur others to keep up the good work. I'm over 2/3rds of the way to goal.

I recommend bicycling as well. This morning in 55 minutes I biked 14 miles at an average heart rate of 152 BPM over changing terrain and burned 967 Calories. It's not boring and I never have to wait for someone to get off the machine!

There have been a number of studies that show those who consume diet sodas weigh more than those who don't. I have never seen a study that convinces me that this association is causal. It makes perfect sense to me that fat people will consume diet sodas while thinner people may not worry about the calories. Also, I do…

Lord Kelvin one said "to measure is to know". If you don't want to know, keep estimating

And don't give up peanut butter! Just give up the fat. Get some PB2 and enjoy peanut butter at 1/4 of the calories. OOPS! sorry, I see someone got there before me. You can order it online and see if it is available locally. Bell plantation http://store.bellplantation.com

Totally agree. Losing weight has been very expensive. I have gone through 3 changes of trouser waist size. I have added 4 puches to a couple of belts so I could continue to use them. I must wear dress slack/suits at work and it has been PRICEY. (But the looks that I'm getting are PRICELESS so I guess it evens out)…

You certainly should not credit both! that's counting it twice.

Yeah. I don't know about their calculator. They give me almost 3,000 Calories to lose 1.5 lbs a week. I don't think so........
-
Sorry. I occasionally get a double post on MFP...

Total agree with the awesomeness: How about the Skinny recipe?
