Made some decisions...

Hello MFP friends,
Okay I've been back and forth on this site for two years now. I was doing wonderfully last fall and got to a great weight and felt so much better, but since graduate school took up every hour + work, I have had NO time to work out. I barely have time to eat during the day, maybe an apple and something small (very busy work week). So it's usually late that I eat, and I feel like I overeat in a really short amount of time, to make up for the day.
I've gotten frustrated and even made an apt. to talk to a Dr. about Phentermine. I've researched it like crazy, and realized... to hell with it. I can definitely lose these 20 on my own. I've motivated myself again, and even if it's walking a mile or two a day, then at least that's something. I will have to find the time. Because honestly I love hiking and walking (never have been a runner). I just canceled that apt.
So I'm usually really good about calories, I just need to make sure I stay away from peanut butter and other highly caloric things
I think I might even go to a nutritionist to figure out a meal plan.
Anyways, I know a lot of you who support the tried and true way of eating right and working out! And I really just needed to reach out and get psyched up again!
Thank you all!!

I'm a full time grad student as well. You just have to make time for workouts and for eating well just like any other person. Find a way to fit 30 minutes of exercise into your daily routine then bump it up later to more time/more intensity. Think of it as a daily assignment.
Hang in there!0 -
I definitely understand what you're going through. I was a full time grad student and worked full time, too. It's hard to find time to do either let alone make sure you're eating right or getting some exercise.
Good for you for deciding you can do it on your own! We're here for you if you need support!0 -
Haha, I like that.. another assignment I have to do!0

Thank you!!0

Good for you Sway! For that Peanut Butter Craving that you have, check into PB2. I use it and I love it. I buy mine from bellplantation.com, but you can google search it for other sources as well. Good luck!0

I think of it as personal hygeine. I woudln't go a day without brushing my teeth twice a day, so I shouldn't go a day without eating well either...

Hi,
Ripped in 30, 30 Day Shred, 10 minute trainer, etc. are great fast workouts. You can always find 10 minutes to workout... and I say this as a mom and a former grad student who worked full time.
Also, pack healthy snacks to take to school with out. It will help to have with you so you don't eat the bad stuff ususally found on campuses.

And don't give up peanut butter! Just give up the fat. Get some PB2 and enjoy peanut butter at 1/4 of the calories.
OOPS! sorry, I see someone got there before me. You can order it online and see if it is available locally. Bell plantation http://store.bellplantation.com0 -
I am a full-time student (and work full time as well), and what has worked for me is getting up 30 min earlier in the morning and doing a 20min workout before I head to work. I am currently doing the 30 Day Shred, which is really great. I do not have a lot of time in the evenings, but I have found that I can get that 20min in and start my day off right.Hello MFP friends,

I prep my food at the beginning of the week, usually on Sunday. One thing that helped me when I was in grad school and working full time was a lunch cooler that I packed with small things to carry me through the day. One or 2 baby bel cheese wheels, a small pack of nuts (almonds or walnuts), some fruit, usually an apple and a sandwich. i think if I did it again I would add a hard boiled egg and some greek yogurt to that. it may not sound like much, but I could nibble all day and then come home and have a decent meal. You aren't starving so you don't binge on that one meal in the evening and if you have prepped well on Sunday you don't skip it or order take out or fast food because you are too tired to cook. Your prep means you can put together a good meal in 15 mins or less.
You can do this!0 -
Thank you! Okay I just ordered the PB2 and the 30 Day Shred!! I'm excited!!0

I was thinking I need to start making time to eat actual meals. What I do when I track my food is make this strange goals to not hit that 1200 mark... is that strange? I know I need to eat the calories, and adding the workout too will change things. I'm really excited about my decision. I was getting anxious thinking about meds.0
