Try to eat a snack mid morning apple and peanut butter, or something healthy and have a mid afternoon snack. Don't go to low on the CALS and drink your water. I suggest buying real meat and pre-cooking it, put it in bags and freeze it It will be much better deli meats

You may want to go to a gym that caters to both men and women. My wife and I go to the same gym. We have different goals so we don't do the same work outs. We do encourage each other. If he is getting winded he may want to get a physical before starting exercise. A trainer may be helpful.

I recommend getting the gym staff to show you how to use the machines this should be free or a minimal charge. A trainer is even better as they will show you more on how to use the machines and work with you so that you dont hurt yourself.

Good write up. I am still wanting to lose weight but also wanting to gain muscle.

Make sure you are eating every 2-3 hours. For example before I went to the gym this morning I had an apple and a tablespoon of peanut butter. When I got back and I some whey protein and then a couple of egg whites and one egg omelet. I would not want a hard workout after eating.

Please don't take this the wrong way, I don't mean to sound hard. What would concern me more is using food as a source of comfort.. For this to work you need to see food for what it is. Good food should be fuel for the body, bad food turns to fat. Counting calories helps re-train us to eat better foods and better portions.…

If your muscles are sore and you worked them hard you may want some whey isolate as this is easily digested and gets to the muscles. Hope the class is fun.
