Thank you! Hopefully I`m off to find my pink competition standard kettlebell tomorrow.
-
I have a goal - hoping it is possible to achieve. My son is into heavy lifting. He teaches and competes in kettlebells. Last month he competed in one and came 2nd what he calls the 'fat old guy' level (he isn't fat and he's only 46). He also won the mace competition. When I was watching the videos of the competition, I…

Hi I would like to join your challenge. I just started keto this week and struggling with all the fat and calories. Height 5 foot 0 CW 173 GW for New Years 165 Age: 68 I actually just started with a new health centre and told them I want to go keto so they gave me a diet outline with macros and I had my RMR done. I burn…

Thanks so much for answering, alexisjfrank, gabybaby916 and sal82. I thought I had killed this thread. I'm good at that - I'm a thread murderer. I've had BP coffee for three days now and love the taste - of course I'm adding chocolate so what's not to love? I may be not putting enough butter and coconut oil in because my…

Well I just tried bulletproof coffee for the first time today. I had seen mention of it on mfp and googled what it was. Sounded weird and yucky but I thought I'd try it. In the creator's blog he said you could start with lower amounts of the butter and coconut oil to get used to it. So I had dark roast coffee (Keurig),…

Exactly! I lost 50 pounds on Atkins in 2003 and gained back not all of it very slowly because in recent years I ate like a pig. Research has consistently shown that Atkins is a very successful weight loss program and people don't gain it back any faster than any other diet when they start eating the way they did before…

I'm 63 and just made major life changes this year: sold my house, moved to Ottawa to be closer to my son and grandchildren and started working at a new location. Because I'm now in an apartment I have to walk my big dog 3 x a day. Just got a Fitbit Flex and logging about 15,000 steps a day. I also had both my knees…

I'm 61.

Thank you that was helpful

Hi I'm from east London. Unfortunately I'm not there anymore. Now I'm in Canada. LOL Oh well. I might go over this summer and then I might be in East London for a few minutes during my visit. (I'm assuming Lambeth and Camberwell are in East London). - I've been here a long time.

Well sorry but you do sound a tad obnoxious. I am a low carb enthusiast but I had never heard of a keto diet before this and I have no idea what 'book' you are referring to. Anyone else willing to provide some useful information?

I'm bumping this because I really hope someone answers

They aren't that heavy. I had a breast reduction and each boob barely weighed 5 lbs. And they were BIG.
-
Good for you. I think Atkins is a great place to start. I have tried South Beach and for some reason I find it much more difficult than Atkins and don't lose as well. I think perhaps there's too much flexibility with South Beach and I tend to suffer from carb creep.
-
Thank you for posting your pics. I just started low carb and I'm looking forward to a fast and crave-free loss too.

I am ashamed! Even though I used Atkins to lose 50 pounds back in 2002 and felt GREAT! A few years later after putting a few pounds back on (not all and certainly not more which is what everyone tells you to expect when you go off of LC) I decided that I NEEDED oatmeal and fruit and that Atkins was probably unhealthy. So I…

I also am much more focused and energetic and think more clearly on low carb. I have several sleep disorders and they are very much reduced when I eat low carb. Ten years ago I lost 50 pounds on Atkins and kept it off very well. Over the last 3 years of eating very badly I have put twenty pounds back on. I had intended to…

A forty year old FAD that has numerous studies and uncountable success stories to back it up. Unfortuantely people equate Atkins with the Phase 1 Induction and even then they misrepresent it because it does not cut out all carbs. In fact, as others have said, you will probably eat even more vegetables than you do on low…

Oh that's good! As a trainer I know that I can receive 99 evaluations that say it was wonderful training, I was fun, knowledgable, great etc and ONE that says something nasty and it will destroy my day. I brood on that one evaluation. I remember I got one once that said 'well when it comes right down to it, Jackie is…

bumping this for my own reference later. Great thread - thank you

Oh yeah and cooked carrots and raisins. Did I mention milk? And cilantro

I love many of the outfits that have been suggested. The red wrap dress is beautiful. whatever you choose, I'm looking forward to a picture of you ready to impress!

Out of all the things listed the only thing I thought was horrible was tripe. Yuck it really was like eating a dishrag. and I hate milk. I thought this thread was about the baddest thing I ever ate and I was already to post about that: a DQ chocolate brownie delight. Chocolate icecream on chocolate brownies with chocolate…

Sorry my only suggestion is don't do high impact training if you have a bad knee, it will only make it worse. One time in 2006 I was walking my dog and I broke out in a slow jog. Later my knee started huring and it never stopped. It got worse and worse until every step was torture. I ended up having a bilateral knee…

My intent was to make small incremental changes perhaps one a week. For example, the suggestion to up vegetables was a good one - I could choose a goal of focusing on more vegetables for a week or 3 and try to make it a habit. I pretty much cook all my meals from sccratch but I could for example, try a new recipe a week.…

I have a Weider whey protein fruit splash in peach mango that is more like a fruit juice instead of milky. I wonder if that would work with greens.

Having said my piece about the weird TOPS group I belonged to back in the 70s, I do appreciate the value of a community and a little healthy competition. We have a group here that was started and continues to be run by one woman. It operates for 12 weeks several times a year. We each pay $40 for the week which pays for the…

Hiking down the Grand Canyon is one of the adventure trips that we are considering. Good luck!

Yeah when I was much younger I was secretary at a TOPS club, my friend was President. After each meeting we'd all go around the corner to a restaurant and have coffee and eat dessert. Then eventually if we knew we had gained we went to the show across the street instead of meetings. It was a bit of a dump and the shows…
