Hey Cyndi, I'll kick you in the butt!:drinker: imagine the arms are my legs kicking you in the butt. we need an icon for that i think. Maybe you need more sleep, thats what i need for sure. I had a 4 mile run yesturday and i was so played out, my legs were soooo tired. I think its the whole sleep thing catching up…

On Saturday I ran 12.8 km!!! furthest I have gone so far. I had side stitches for the first half, got my breathing under control and then I was great for the last half. I think maybe the hills that I ran this time played my legs out, so that was the problem the second half. But its the course that ill be running at the end…

Ran 4 miles after work yesturday. I did get side stitches for a bit but I managed my breathing patterns better and they went away. Then I started to get them on both sides(obviously i drank too much water and my stomach was getting heavy), so I had to change up my breathing quite a bit. I know I sure have to watch what I…

Forgot to check in with my AMAZING run on Sunday! 11.2 km and NO SIDE STITCHES!!!! finally.  I am very excited about this. It feels great to run now. The weather has been crappy, lots of rainy days this week so I went on the elliptical for about an hour. I'll try to go outside to run tomorrow,…

Hey Canadians!! Weigh in this week: 138.7 lbs. not bad i think. not really focussing on losing, mostly just A LOT of running for the half. and maintaining seems to be going well. I feel prety comfortable with where I am, so no worries here. Gotta stay on top of it tho! Good Luck everyone!!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!! I feel that I have mastered the side stitches. I ran 11.2 km today and I NEVER got side stiches!!!!  I took your advice and started slower than usual, had a slow, deep breathing pattern and breathing out when my left foot hit the ground. I also didnt drink any coffee…

Hey ladies! Looks like everyone is doing so well. Good luck on all your runs!! I have another question, I am getting VERY painful side stitches when I run. I have tried pretty much everything to prevent and treat them, but nothing seems to work. Do any of you have any techniques, ideas or suggestions that could…

Had a 4 mile run yesturday. I must need time to warm up a bit, b/c I had excruciating side stiches:sad: (I'll use the right term now that I know what it is.) I had to walk part way which I have never done on a run before. I guess its not a bad thing to walk. The pain was paralyzing and I had to stop and I thought I…

Hey! Weigh in is 138.7, up just a tiny bit. Seems to be doing good when I'm not really focussing on losing weight, just maintaining and training for this half marathon. My brother says I am in "athlete mode" so I eat WAY more and more often. I also drink soooo much water now. I feel like it is totally different from when I…

Ran my next 3 miles today. I feel good. found out that the cramping is actually called side stitches. i didnt know that. so i worked on getting rid of side stitches as i ran today, a lot of deep breathes and flexing my ab muscles. seemed to help along with putting pressure on it. i think ill get the hang of it. always…

I run outside, I have not ran on a treadmill during this process at all, mostly b/c i dont have one. During the week, I run through my neighborhood and on weekends, my husband and I go down to the river. The city has made a running/biking path along the South Saskatchewan River, so its absolutely beautiful to run. I set my…

I ran down by the river this time, instead of through the streets. It was such a scenic route and I loved it. I think where I ran is is…

Hey everyone! Thanks for starting the thread every week Cyndi!! Gets me motivated. This weeks weigh in . . . 138.5 lbs.:grumble: But I think it has a lot to do with me training for this half marathon, gaining muscle. I do feel good, so its not like i'm going to fall off the wagon. Training is going great! I did 4 miles on…

I totally have the addiction as well. I NEVER liked running before and now that I am training for a half marathon and I feel like I have a purpose, I find myself wanted to be running all the time. Good addiction to have tho I think. I looked up some hip stretches on google like you suggested, and tried them out for…

Good to hear Williams3023! I had a 2.7 mile run today. Wasnt very good for time, mostly b/c I had some major side pains. Those side cramps are going to be the death of me. grrrrrrr. My hip did feel better tho, thank goodness. i did more stretches for the hip and it seemed to help but we will see.

Well my hip joint is feeling better today, so I think I will go for todays run. its only a 2.5er so I should be ok, and I'll walk if something happens with my hip. Its a bit cold out today, starting to snow again, but I'm going to tough it out and bundle up a bit more than usual. If anything else changes to make the…
