Haha but how often does that happen in real life? Never! There does seem to be droves of people signing up for The Color Run, Run or Dye, Tough Mudder, Rock n Roll Marathons, etc ;)

Do you stretch your legs properly before you get on the treadmill? It would help so much to do a few basic stretches to get your legs ready for a workout!

Knowing your HR will help motivate you to push harder during your workouts! You burn more calories at a certain rate, as mentioned, and the HRM will help you with that. I know that when I get bored during my work out, I slack and so it keeps me on my toes and allows me to use my time exercising more effectively.

If you don't mind, I say go for it. If its hot outside, people will understand why you're just in a sports bra! If it was winter, that's a different story :)

I second getting a heart rate monitor as it will track how you're doing as your exercising and can give you a more accurate reading on how many calories you're burning! It's a worthy investment (I myself just bought one). Definitely worth the $100 I paid for a Polar FT40, but there are cheaper ones that do the trick as…
