Thanks! I think keto can work if you've never really cared much for carbs. But I've always enjoyed eating plenty of fruit, legumes, beans, breads, pastas, rice, etc. So now I aim for around 150g carbs per day so I can enjoy all those things in small portions!

I did keto for a year before returning to a more balanced way of eating. I'll sum up my experience: Pros: - Quick whoosh of water weight loss in the first 1-2 weeks - Flatter stomach due to less bloating - Less gas - Stable and gradual hunger levels (no sugar crashes) - More long-lasting satiety from protein and fat Cons:…

I wouldn't worry so much about it. Bodies are funny, they don't typically lose weight in a linear fashion. You may not lose any weight at all for 2 weeks, then suddenly drop 3lbs. All that matters is the overall downwards trend over months. Find a deficit that is comfortable enough for you, then stick to it! Good luck!

Try some Indian recipes, they are excellent for main courses without meat. I like this website, she does a lot of ethnic recipes and has lots of vegetarian ones: https://twosleevers.com/recipe-index/?fwp_dietary_consider=vegetarian https://www.skinnytaste.com is good too.

I'm a weekly meal-prepper. I bought a ton of plastic tupperware from Amazon to portion out my batches. I start by visiting my favourite recipe sites and finding recipes that will freeze well and reheat well. Usually creamy/liquidy meals are best. I like to prep: curries, quiches, stews, soups, chili, pasta dishes, rice…

I'm 5'7" and chose 135lbs as my goal. I'm currently hovering around 136lbs and I think I could actually go lower, maybe 125lbs. I still have a belly pooch and 39" hips so I wouldn't mind continuing to slowly trim down.

Fellow carb-lover here... I tried keto for a year but ended up returning to carbs. Lost all the weight with calorie counting alone and it's been much more sustainable. I don't think I could realistically stick to a diet that forbids fruit, potatoes, beans, lentils, pasta, rice, bread... I prefer enjoying all of them in…

I've been having a day like this today too. I've just been ravenous all day with cravings through the roof. I had over 1k calories for breakfast and logged every part of it. Then, my plan was to skip lunch and have a light dinner. Well, 2pm rolled around and I was ravenous again. I succumbed and got a sub and chips. I was…

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do. Let her know that you're worried about her becoming sick and encourage her to talk to her doctor about her diet plans. Try to just be a supportive friend and someone she can open up to, if she chooses to. You can drive yourself crazy trying to set her down the right path, but…

I kinda prefer PB2 in a lot of ways. I mix it with a dash of cinnamon, a splash of sugar-free caramel syrup and add unsweetened almond milk until it's the consistency I prefer. Then I spread it on toast, bagels, or eat it with sliced apples. I'm not sure how I'd go about calculating the calories in 'oil-drained' nut…

Weigh your food.

Did you miss the part where she mentions she does crossfit 4x a week? And it's entirely possible to lose weight without any exercise. You can lose weight if you're bedridden. It all comes down to calories.

I actually don't eat breakfast anymore! I like saving my calories so I can have a larger lunch and dinner. Now that my body has adjusted to the new schedule, I don't start feeling hungry til around 11am. But really - breakfast can be anything you want. Don't feel constrained to typical breakfast foods - just eat what you…

- Buy a digital food scale. They're very cheap on Amazon or at Walmart! - Track your calories as accurately as possible. Weigh all your solid foods on the scale, and liquids with measuring cups and spoons. Put it all in your diary. Every day. - Find satiating foods that will help you stick to your calorie goal. Usually…

Looking at your diary, there are a few things you could change to adjust the satiety factor. Peanut butter is a big one. It's soooo many calories for a small portion, it's often just not worth it. I'd recommend switching to a powdered peanut butter like PB2. Simple carbs like Goldfish crackers don't tend to provide much in…

Meal-prepping is an awesome way to save money and cut down on food waste. All you need to do is choose recipes that reheat well, freeze well, and are focused around cheap ingredients. www.budgetbytes.com is a great recipe website. The gist is... - Buy things on sale and in bulk when it's a great deal - Focus meals around…

Running makes me ravenous! Even a little 3k or so. Definitely normal.

Well of course you can't turn down your daughter's eggs!! ;) Totally understandable.

I hate to be an egg snob, but those eggs look seriously overcooked. The green sulfur ring and pale colour are the give-aways. Try cooking them for a shorter time for a much tastier experience! :)

Protein powder is cheaper and you'll get better muscle results.

I like dipping my raw veggies in a Greek yogurt dip. Just buy some plain 0% fat Greek yogurt and add whatever seasonings you like. Whether it's a quick Ranch flavour packet or something homemade, like fresh herbs, minced garlic, lemon juice and black pepper.

True! But I find that doing it often enough makes it really second nature. If OP makes the salad the same way each time and doesn't mind minor discrepancies, the suggestions to just create a 'Meal' or 'Recipe' are definitely the best options. Or maybe a middle-ground - eyeballing the low-calorie ingredients and measuring…

Here's how I do it: 1. Put a bowl on my digital kitchen scale, tare it to zero. 2. Add lettuce, record gram weight - either on a notepad or in MFP if I have my phone handy. 3. Tare the scale to zero again, add & record other toppings one by one, taring between each item. 4. Use a measuring spoon to add my dressing. Voila!…

One of my favourite sayings is "Don't yuck someone else's yum." Crapping on someone's nostalgic meals is pretty rude and unnecessary. Everyone is entitled to enjoy different foods, let's all be kind.

Here's a great read on why everyone should take diet breaks: https://bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/the-full-diet-break.html/ Basically, the longer you restrict calories, the more your hunger hormones get out of whack. Taking a break and eating at maintenance for a little while is great for fixing up those hormones and…

Congrats, keep it up!! :)

As someone who enjoys a moderation/balanced approach to eating and fully supports CICO/calorie counting... I just don't see the point in being diet police. If someone wants to try keto, go ahead. Give it a go. Want to try Whole30? Sure, why not. If it's not dangerous, who cares. Maybe they'll discover a new found love for…

I tried them all and Mango was my fave. Blood orange barely had any orange flavour at all! Same with ginger lime.
