Stepmania/DDR
Sorry if this thread has been done before... but I'm wondering if there any other DDR players left out there! I have a Cobalt Flux and play Stepmania through my laptop, hooked up to my TV. It's always been one of the only exercises that I can keep going back to and it's always just as fun. I played a lot at the arcades,…

How far in advance could I mix my protein powder and Greek yogurt?
Just curious if anyone has anyone has prepped yogurt + protein powder in advance. I know that prepping protein shakes can be a bad idea, as the protein gets kind of funky after a day or two. For now I've just been prepping my yogurt each morning, but if I could save some time and do a bigger batch, that would be awesome.

Fitbit tells me I've burned more calories walking than doing a strenuous workout?
I've had my Fitbit Alta HR for a few months now and I'm kind of scratching my head at this. It says I burn about 150 calories for half an hour of brisk walking. I'm definitely not breaking a sweat during the walk and I'm walking at a comfortable pace. On the other hand, I do a 30 minute intense strength/cardio class that…

Group classes are making SUCH a difference for me!
I just wanted to gush about how happy I am with my new gym. For some background: I'm a total couch potato, I've tried going to the gym a million times and trying tons of different programs but nothing has stuck. The only activities I consistently enjoy are walking, yoga and occasionally running. So recently I joined a…

Former couch potatoes... how long did it take you to make your lifestyle permanently active?
Just a question I'm curious about. I'm a total couch-potato, I love watching movies, drawing, reading, crafting, playing games... not really physically active hobbies. The only active thing I actually seem to enjoy is going on walks with my audiobook. Over the years I've started and stopped many different programs…

Has anyone else watched "How to Lose Weight Well" on Channel 4 (UK)?
I heard about it recently and decided to give it a watch. I'm drawn towards those UK weight-loss shows (like Superfat vs Superskinny). I like how Brits don't seem to sugarcoat obesity as much as the rest of us! Anyway, it's an interesting show. They basically divide groups of people into 3 categories: 2 who will go on a…

Is my simple, beginner strength routine missing anything important?
Hey all, I'm a woman who has finally returned to strength-training and I'm hoping to keep it ultra simple to begin with to keep my motivation high and my workouts fairly quick. Do you see any glaring muscle groups I'm missing with this full-body 3x a week plan? * Barbell deadlifts (3 sets of 6-8) * Barbell squats (3 sets…

Cauliflower Potato Leek Soup - 145 calories per 400g serving!
Just made a big heaping pot of this last night and it's so delicious, filling and creamy. I added all the ingredients to the Recipe Builder in grams then weighed the full bowlful to calculate the calorie count. If you make it yourself, feel free to play with proportions to suit your needs. * 500mL Fat Free 1% Sour Cream…

Do any office workers use those little under-the-desk peddlers?
Just wondering if anyone has bought one and still regularly uses it. I'm an office fidgeter, always tapping my feet... so I was thinking about buying one of those to at least keep my legs busy and burn an extra few calories throughout the workday. Just looking for some feedback from those who have used them before. I was…

Does anyone else find themselves sticking to simpler recipes just to avoid the hassle of logging?
This is just a light-hearted observation, wondering if anyone else can relate. I love to cook and before calorie counting, I'd always add dashes of this and that, use lots of ingredients and adjust to taste as I went along. Now - knowing I'll need to input the meal into my diary (or create the recipe) - I tend to seek out…

Is it weird to work out in work clothes?
I have a fairly short lunch break, but I was hoping to hit the gym during it. I usually go for a daily walk at lunch time, but now that the weather is colder (and snow is coming), I think I'll start walking on a treadmill at the gym instead. And maybe throw in some upper body machine work while I'm at it. I wouldn't be…

Anyone tried Alternate Day Fasting?
Hi folks, just curious if anyone else has tried this method of intermittent fasting. I've dabbled with a few different types of IF over the years and have been consistently skipping breakfast for a few years to allow myself more calories for lunch and dinner. I'm actually quite comfortable fasting and find that hunger…

Exercise suggestions to do while losing the last 20lbs? Or wait to recomp at goal weight?
Hi folks! I'm hoping to shed 20lbs before my wedding in May. I'm mostly sedentary and work a desk job. I aim for a 30-60 minute walk every day, but that's obviously not a whole lot of activity, nor very intense. I have a gym membership and I've been active with running/weight-lifting in the past, but I've been in a funk…

My new love: walking with audiobooks!
I've been a sedentary person for basically my whole life and I've always struggled finding healthy activities that I can stick to and find interesting. 2 months ago I decided to get into audiobooks. I started watching the show "American Gods" and thought it might be fun to read the book. I'd heard about Audible and decided…

How often do YOU eat fast food/takeout/restaurant food?
I'm just curious about what other people's eating habits are like! How often do you cook your own meals vs. get your meals elsewhere?

What are some good foods to check out at Meijer?
We have one opening nearby soon. I've never been in this particular grocery store chain, so I was wondering if they have anything noteworthy and different from other places. Thank you!

Just started running again, and I did a 4k without stopping!!
I'm just excited to share. I followed C25K in 2015 and spent the whole spring, summer and autumn running. I did a 10k back then and felt great. In 2016, I slipped off track, barely did any exercising let alone running. Now I've decided to get back in the game and my first run was a 4k over the Easter weekend. I went very…

Savory "tea"
Just curious to see if anyone else does this! I am a huge tea lover and drink tea at work constantly. But when hunger strikes around 11am and I start craving "savory", I like to make a cup of hot bouillon to drink. I only use a small bit of bouillon so the salt content isn't out of control. I have Tom Yum and Chicken…

Does anyone else set their calorie goal to their TDEE and just make sure to eat beneath it?
Just curious. Has anyone tried using MFP like this?

Yesterday's NSV at an all-you-can-eat restaurant!
This isn't a big one by any means, but I'm still feeling proud. My co-workers convinced me to join them at an All-You-Can-Eat sushi/asian restaurant. I was scared crapless. Usually when I go to this restaurant, I gorge myself on tempura shrimp, deep-fried dumplings, "crunchy" sushi rolls with bits of tempura in it...…

Fish oil dramatically boosts metabolism?
I just stumbled upon this article, and I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on this! The article states: "EPA and DHA, the omega-3 fatty acids found only in fish oil, may have the power to dramatically boost your metabolism -- by about 400 calories per day, researchers from the University of Western Ontario report. Fish…

Starting on Monday! Would love to add some keto friends.
I've been reading on up on keto on Reddit for a while, and my boyfriend and I decided to take the plunge and stocked up on a ton of keto-friendly foods to start on Monday. I made a huge pot of keto-friendly broccoli cheddar soup that I'm looking forward to having for lunch! I would love to have some friends who do keto, so…

Is my heart rate too high during cardio?
I recently bought a HRM that I've been using during cardio. I do 30 minutes on the Elliptical 3x a week. While on the Elliptical, my heart rate generally falls between 150-170. Mostly around 160-165 bpm. I'm definitely sweating and exerting myself during the high points. Using a target heart rate calculator, it said I…
