I'm In. The first video looks like burpees without the jump at the end of each rep.

Use a HRM to compare between what your calorie burn is and what your calculated calorie burn is. I use a Pyle HRM. It was cheap ($40) on eBay. Does great for me. Has a chest strap and it works great with the chest strap enabled machines. Then I get an accurate calorie burn on the machines. Without the chest strap, not so…

Planning on doing the Tour de Cure in June with my work or my Boy Scout Troop. My Boy Scout Troop has a cycling trek in July and Tour de Cure would be knocking off some of the total 150 miles needed.

My wife was told by her doctor to add 300-400 calories at first. Then taper down to 200-300 after the 2nd trimester. Wasn't sure why the reduction later. But, we followed doctors orders and everything went well with the pregnancy (at least that can be hoped for from a pregnant wife that has had the previous 3 as toximic…

I have lived overseas and have had to eat foods that have been absolutely nasty (according to my taste buds). But I don't want my kids growing up thinking that all food is going to taste exactly the way they want. The rule in our house is that you have to at least try it. Then we ask what they could change about the way…

I've done it as part of my actual military training. It's a GREAT workout. But, I will warn you to pace yourself. Military training requires that you complete the station as they outline. Push yourself, but don't kill yourself. One modification I did for the tire was build a sled (of sorts) that my kids could sit and hold…

My Boy Scout Troop has done pizza over an open fire many times using a portable grill. Really good pizzas! As long as they remember not to stir the fire causing ash to fly up. As you get better at how long to put them on the grill, you can get the crust to the exact crispness you like and they are Absolutely WONDERFUL!!

I just did a half marathon this past weekend. I started out small back in January by doing 10 minute intervals until I was able to maintain a specific speed for 15 minutes. Then I gradually increased that time by 5 minutes. My speed would typically decrease when I increased the time. But, I would regain my speed ability.…

Pretzel sticks (large or thin) and twists were some of my best friends in college. A cook book of some simple yet satisfying recipes is also good. There are many things you can make that are filling yet excessive in calories. That would be my suggestions. And an air horn to use on the roommates. That's always a great way…

Welcome to MFP. You'll find yourself quite at home with the web interface, smartphone apps and the people here.

I mix in chopped egg and celery. If I can sneak it in, I'll piss off my wife by adding some diced sweet pickles. Some pepper for a bit more flavor. Then into a sandwich or on top of crackers before my daughter notices that I am eating her tuna fish. (I love how it's my money that buys the food but the rest of the family…

I compliment my girl friends on Facebook all the time. Sometimes I will even compliment them again in person. To me, it helps them feel reassured about how they look and boosts the self-esteem a bit more. Does my wife get jealous about it? No. We've been happily married for12 years. Some issues existed in the very…

Splurge day or not, I try and keep my log as accurate as possible. It helps me recognize what I do on splurge days or even on my bad days. Then I can put food patterns to what my emotions are. There is link between the two for me. So I have to watch it all and keep it all under control.

Stay strong despite what is put in front of you. Keep in mind the estimated calorie intake. But don't distance yourself from the interaction because of the food in front of you. Yes, you are most likely correct that the food will be far from healthy. But, if you have any say in the matter, make sure you get yourself…

Bear in mind that if you look at the meals that you are given when eating out, those are generally a two serving meal. Don't be afraid to ask for a doggy-bag. Take your meal, divide it in half. Or split the meal with your husband. My wife and I could never do this because we can never agree on how to cook the food or what…

Are you staying in a hotel? What's the lodging accommodations like? Based on where you go, there is a number of things you can do. Just depends on where you go. A little bit more detail and we can help you out with some ideas.

I have to agree with PJilly. In my workouts, people would tell me not to eat back the calories. But I found myself more prone to injury. I didn't have the energy to focus on my workouts and my body wasn't getting the nutrients it needed to rebuild muscle or any other area that was being worked on during my workouts. Use…

I work with teens almost everyday of the week. There are extra calories burned each day I work with them because of how nutty they drive me. But I have fun with them. My observations of them is that activity is the key to the eating. Your body is always looking for something to do other than the basics of survival…

If you're unsure of the content of food, there are websites that can "analyze" your recipe for the nutritional value. It would only be an estimate. But otherwise, this is only another way of controlling something that should not be under such control when there are so many in need. A little something can go a long way in…

Welcome!! You'll find everyone here very supportive as your work. One thing my wife and I have found is not only in the calorie counting but also the types of foods that we eat. She has PCOS and that interfered greatly with her ability to lose weight. She did a ton of research on it, talking with her doctor until they came…

Jelly beans (not jelly bellys, but old fashioned jelly beans) and, believe it or not, freshly cooked rice (I could eat that by the handfuls if something doesn't pull me away from the pan).

I agree that (as much as it will suck), best is to start at week 1. You might be able to fly through and catch back up pretty quick. But the best and safest is to start at the beginning. You'll do great at catching up. You have the motivation and desire. It won't take long. IMO.

Been there. I HATED that portion of the test. I hate running in general unless I have a real reason to run (i.e., being chased by a rabid dog, trying to catch my flight, etc.). But that is awesome!! Great to see that you have improved. Keep it up!! Make everyone else jealous with your constant improvement. :-)

I'm not a student but am on the go from about 5:30a till 9:00p. So, feel free to add me if you would like.

Also check your MFP settings as based on if you indicate that your work is active versus sedentary, it might have a different approach to calculating your calories. I typically only track when I am doing something for 10 minutes or longer (or actually doing a workout). So if I am walking to a meeting in another building, I…

My wife has similar issues. She had to remove anything processed from her diet. Our family starting eating really healthy and her weight started dropping like crazy. But she also changes up her workouts on a weekly basis. She has a basic idea of the workouts she wants to do. But she doesn't get in a pattern. Watched the…

I find it to be a benefit. I log everything on my Blackberry when I am away from the computer. In the end, I can see where my deficiencies and strengths are. But logging calories is only part of the tracking. I have to pay attention to the whole day's worth of events as they make a huge difference on what I will need to do…

Someone shared that proverb with me some time ago. So very true. But he added one additional statement of his own: watch your step. One victory after another. They will pile up to mean a great win when you hit your target weight. Keep it up. But watch your step. Just as before, those parties and socials can cause you to…
