Hi I'm also 21! 5'6'' and 170 looking to lose about 30 pounds.

Hi! I'm a beginning climber, have been climbing for a little over a year now and have very intensely dove into the climbing world, all the way to doing multipitch Alpine climbs. While it's a very good and fun exercise I would not consider it fitness or training. I climb at least 4 times a week and it's considered a fun…

Thank you all for helping my curiosity. I posted this with a question. Any thoughts? And I guess apparently I didn't do my research so thanks I will read all the articles you have posted about this because I am just genuinely curious about the chemistry of it not the weight loss.

I'm not completely disagreeing I was just debating with a friend who asked: does it take longer to convert 500 calories of "unhealthy food" vs. 500 calories of "healthy" food. To be fair I was on the CICO side until we did extensive Google searches. And btw, the article does cite multiple peer reviewed studies.

When it comes down to it it probably isn't enough of a change to matter but I just think its interesting that different molecules do take different amounts of energy to break down and it makes complete sense.

I second that rowing HIIT. I go on the rowing machine, 5 minutes warmup at 24/25 strokes/min (I suggest watching some rowing videos if you haven't done it before). Then for 15 minutes I will do sprints for 1 minute at about 30/31 strokes/min and then a 1 minute rest between each interval. Then cool down at 23/24…

Don't restrain yourself to just those things unless you're going to participate in a body building competition. Have a broader variety, then you won't get bored of eating the same things

It takes 30 days to break a bad habit. I found that if I eat more slowly, I won't eat as much. Keeping myself busy while I eat keeps my mind off the pleasure of eating. Honestly, the biggest piece of advice is to keep yourself busy with something that's more important than eating. I haven't read any books but this was a…

I'm a huge sugar addict. And I realized that I eat sweets when I feel hungry. So my remedy is to always feel content. So that means that I eat throughout the day so that my stomach is constantly satisfied and therefore I don't crave any foods.

Cardio is definitely good. When I go to the gym I only spend like an hour there. One big thing is weightlifting. Now I myself don't lift free weights because I don't have proper training but will have it in a little bit. But anyways, use machine weights for weight lifting. I love doing exercises on the leg press and I…

Hi, I am currently looking for a mentor or some sort of support group of people that have the same goals and interests as me. I am currently 150 lbs and 5'6'' and a college student and I want to start sort of get into some intense sports like boxing and rowing. My weight has fluctuated a lot and that depends typically on…

Add me, I have about 20 pounds to lose

Hey, I'm going to start college in fall of 2015 but I made my weight loss journey last year and only have a couple pounds to go. Currently 136 pounds at 5'6'' but need to work out more to attain more muscle mass. You can add me if you want, I'd be glad to help motivate you on your journey.
-
It took me three months, and my last ten pounds took one month. I'm almost at my goal weight now, I just need to work out more to tone up.

Running is good for you, especially doing the intervals. But rather than jogging, you should be doing intervals the whole time. Spend about 5 minutes warming up with a slow jog or fast walk and then after that, do one minute sprinting and then one minute walking. I do this about 8-10 times and I finish my treadmill workout…

I'm 5'6'' and 145 lbs and I wear usually a 6/8 depending on where I buy my jeans, sometimes they go up to a 10 depending on the store.

I was 157 pounds in march. From the beginning of March until now, I worked out nearly every single day. I've only lost about 13 pounds. I weigh 144 now. Unfortunately, losing weight so slowly is normal for me because I'm already very athletic and it's quite hard for me to lose weight. Just keep on going and doing what…

Intense volleyball for 2.5 hours. It was fun.

depending on how much you weigh and how much you work out, it should be about anywhere from 0.7-1 gram per pound of muscle you have. I would say that 78 is pretty good. I think it's very important to meet the protein goal. Mine is set at 80 and I also struggle a lot to get there. I guess you could eat more chicken or more…

I've heard a lot of people say good things about almond butter. But the calories for almond butter are probably not much different from peanut butter.

How much you eat is crucial in losing weight. But eating healthy and not eating too much, that's unbeatable. You feel good and you're losing weight.
-
are you sure your tdee is 3,400. Even on days where I work out for 4+ hours, mine is at most 2400. Anyways, I would just say try things out. If you eat and feel satisfied and full at 1500, then go for it. If you're hungry all the time at 1500, then bring it up to 1700 or 1800. I eat anywhere from 1600-1800 and that is…

Eat slower. It's one of the best tips I can give you.

I'm also at a healthy weight (145 lb, or 66 kg) and I still want to lose 10 more pounds. However, I'm not completely set on my "weight" goal. My real goal is to establish healthy eating habits so I don't gain weight again and then go through the whole cycle of losing again. So I would honestly just suggest losing at a much…

It took me nearly 3 months to lose 10 pounds. You could do some really quick fixes beforehand like the body heat wrap thing but those only last for a couple of days and then you can get back on track and lose at a healthy rate.
