Calorie in calorie out method is outdated
I've seen some articles about how calories in and calories out isn't efficient in the long run. Some studies have shown that certain foods do metabolize faster and turn into energy faster than other. Any thoughts?

Workout suggestions for a knee injury
I recently have a sprained knee and cannot work out anything that strains my knee for a few more weeks. I know I have my PT exercises and my PT recommended light cardio but I am wondering what that entails. I'm wondering if you have any suggestions on exercises (specifically cardio) for this recovery time

Does inflammation from injury cause weight gain?
I recently injured my knee while skiing and stepped on the scale the other day and was up nearly 6 pounds. Last I weighed myself was maybe 2 weeks ago and I was around 154 but I've weighed myself the past 3 days and it's been hovering around 160. My knee is a little inflamed so I would assume it would retain water but not…

How many grams of protein should I be eating?
I don't really trust mfp when it comes to protein intake because I exercise way more and weigh less than the average person at the slightly active level. Here is some of my background because I feel like I might not be eating enough protein. I exercise 1 1/2 hours everyday for 6 days a week playing tennis. I am 150 trying…

Does what you eat matter?
In losing weight and looking better, could I still eat the same calories that I am eating now (1590) with Mcdonald's and still get the same results as eating extremely healthy? Sometimes I wonder whether this is my problem or not. I drink a lot of water, I eat over my calorie goal but that's because I don't log my exercise…

Question about weight lifting
I tend to only do a little bit of machine weights at the gym and spend most of my time doing HIIT intervals while I'm there. What are some other exercises I can do to keep muscle because I am doing a lot of cardio at the moment? Would playing a sport like tennis or volleyball be sufficient enough to keep the muscle or…

Fitness can make all the difference
I know a friend who is basically my idol/inspiration for fitness, she doesn't have THE perfect body but she is very athletic and fit. She eats decently healthy but eats as much as she wants. Probably the most surprising thing though, is that she is 10 pounds heavier than me and maybe only 1 inch taller than me. That's when…

Runing NSV!
I do HIIT intervals almost all the time when I go to the gym and I've been going for about 2 weeks. Well finally, I was finally able to finish off my HIIT intervals on the treadmill at 10MPH for a minute. This was at the end of my intervals and I was already burned out so I didn't know if I could do it or not, but I did!…

My legs look bigger for some reason
Now, I'll be honest and say that I do like to look at myself in my mirror each day and see if I've lost any inches. Funny thing is that I don't even measure inches which I probably should, but anyways, not exactly the point. I exercise, eat at a deficit, I go to the gym every other day or two days to do strength training…

Eating more fat=More bloated
Is it true that if you eat more fat, you feel fuller? I read somewhere that fat takes much longer to digest and I overate my fat yesterday by 20 something grams (total 75 grams of fat). I guess I just normally don't eat this much fat so I am feeling quite bloated now. Is this normal? I also ate more yesterday than I have…

NSV
I've been doing the 30 day squat challenge and I am almost finished, on day 25 right now. I'm not sure if it's just the squats and probably some other exercises that I've been doing but I realized that my vertical jump is so much higher now. I haven't measured it out but when I play volleyball I can really feel myself get…

Haven't been eating because of jet lag
Yesterday, my total calories only added up to about 900 calories because I slept right through dinner. I mean right now it's 3 in the morning but I'm not hungry yet. I ate a pretty big bowl of cereal for breakfast and had pizza for lunch but since pizza is "bad", I only ate one piece and I went to a friends house and ate…

First NSV!!
Yesterday I went out to eat with my brother and he asked me if I had lost weight and said I look so much skinnier. The last time I saw him was New Years so it's been about a month since we've last seen each other. Before this I was so discouraged because I had only lost maybe 2 pounds since I started MFP at the beginning…

Nothing, I see nothing happening?
It's been over a month since I've been on MFP and am discouraged by the results. I was expecting to lose at least 6 pounds by now, but it's only been 2 pounds lost. I am 150 pounds right now and am looking to be 135. I've been eating 1400 calories everyday, I work out every other day and it's a mix of resistance and…

How to deal with cravings/ binging?
I have a bad problem with this. Especially with cheese. Applewood smoked cheddar is the devil. I've tried waiting 15 minutes and drinking water and even eating other foods but it doesn't work. What do you guys do?

How long you think it'll take to lose 15 pounds?
I know about the 3500 calories deficit = 1 pound. But, I am quite the sporty girl and I work out about 3 times a week doing 2 hours of cardio/weight lifting and another 2 hours of playing volleyball/basketball. But I'm 5'6'' and 150 and I really want to lose 15 pounds or at least get rid of the fat by February. Do you…

How much sugar to eat?
So my MFP thing says that 28 grams of sugar is what I should be eating. I find it super hard to eat such a low amount. My breakfast smoothie alone is already 20-25 grams of sugar. I usually eat 40-50 grams of sugar a day and I always go over my limit but is it good or no? I honestly think that 28 grams is way too low for…

People who were already athletic before you started MFP?
So, I'm the person who was already pretty athletic before I started MFP, I have a decent amount of muscle mass and I exercise and play sports all the time. The only problem was really my diet and that I ate A LOT of bad foods. The only weight I'm trying to lose right now is 15-20 pounds, but I find that it is coming off…

How to start weight lifting (women)?
I know how to do them. I've watched videos on how to start but what weight would you recommend starting at (what did you start at). And how many reps and sets and on what type of weights? I just started so sorry if I said something wrong.

Does this exercise routine seem ok?
So I don't have a lot of time on my hands to go to the gym everyday. But I try to go around 3 times per week. Tuesdays are my "big" days at the gym. I do: Machine weights (circuit) for about 20 minutes and then I go into the cardio room and: - go on this Cybex Arc trainer for about 6 minutes at level 50 (really gets the…

Can pilates tone you up just as well as lifting?
I'm not really a big fan of weight lifting unless it's like machine weights. But when I go to the gym it's usually 20 minutes machine weights and then the rest is cardio. But obviously, we're all looking to tone up. I see that most people on here like heavy lifting to tone themselves up. I saw this channel called…

What's your workout routine like?
Like when you go to they gym, what do you do. Do you do weight lifting and cardio or just one. My routine is I try to go at least 3 times a week. I start off by doing some machine weights (heavily) for about 20-30 minutes working my arms, legs and back and sometimes my abs. After that I go on the treadmill and try to run…
