Yesterday, my total calories only added up to about 900 calories because I slept right through dinner. I mean right now it's 3 in the morning but I'm not hungry yet. I ate a pretty big bowl of cereal for breakfast and had pizza for lunch but since pizza is "bad", I only ate one piece and I went to a friends house and ate fruit and some chips but also not too many. By the time it was 4 in the afternoon, I went home and passed out within minutes until now because I haven't gotten any sleep in 24 hours because I've been trying to fight the jet lag.

Will this do something to my metabolism? I just changed my calorie goal to 1600 because before it was 1390 but I think if I change it to 1600, I'll feel as if I have enough space to eat more in the morning and during lunch. What are some foods that can help add on calories so I don't have to end up having to be in "starvation" mode again? I don't feel like I'm starving yet but I'm kind of scared.

don't worry about it - make sure to drink a LOT of water, eat when you can, and your body will readjust to the time zone.

    (hate jet lag!)

unfortunately, none that really worked for me. "They" say to put yourself in your current zone as soon as you can, i.e., go to sleep at the normal bed time, eat meals at the normal meal time, etc. but all i can say is it takes time... usually about aweek, sometimes longer.

    Hey!
i fly frequently because I live with my fiancee in Germany but go home once or twice a year to the US to visit family. There is a 6 hour time difference between the two countries. The rule of thumb for Jet lag is to add 1 day of Jet lag to each time zone you cross. My experience, when you gain time (I.E. you go from East (Germany) to West (USA)) the jet lag is worst because you fly out of lets say Stuttgart at 10am and land in Detroit at like 3pm. Even though you crossed 6 time zones and travel for 9+ hours.

My best advice is to not worry about your calories this week. If your under your calorie limit your not going to gain weight, just make sure that your drinking plenty of water and eating lots of vitamin rich foods like fruits and vegetables. Try to avoid complex foods like candy, soda, or foods that have a lot of carbs because your body will need to use energy (which you don't have) to break down and digest them.

I am am flying out of Zurich Switzerland in a month to Detroit, MI. So i Will also be experience what you are experiencing right now. Don't worry and do the best you can eating food! if you want to talk, friend me or send a message

Thanks. My time difference is China and Seattle so it's pretty bad. Last time I came back, it took me nearly a month to get over, It's been only about 5 days now but it doesn't seem to get any better. I guess the effects are different on different people. I'll be sure to drink plenty of water and maybe coffee as well as eat fruits and vegetables though.

when in doubt make time for naps... When i went home last year i slept for 2 days straight in my old bedroom. But that was because i had a month long vacation and no plans, it was a leisure trip
