I didn't have any defined goals for July, but I do for August: 1)Prepare for a 10k in November. 2)Exercise everyday (some form). 3)Try to figure out a strength training program I can stick to. I'm good at cardio, but I really need to get in some 4) Reach 10k steps on days I don't have "planned" exercise and 15K steps on…

Finding something to make that's somewhat healthy and that everyone will like (or at least eat without too much complaining). Also the timing ... and finally, the clean-up. I'm the only one that cooks and cleans up... I also work, help my daughter homework, go to school meetings/functions, take my daughter to most of her…

Just set mini-goals for yourself at first. Take baby steps. Maybe say lose 5 pounds in your 1st month, walk 15 minutes a day. Just start logging your food (weighing and measuring properly). That is the most important first step.

Do you have access to an indoor or heated pool? What about some upper-body workouts? That might help a little bit?
-
I'm going to try again..... I only got about 7600 steps yesterday, but I'm shooting for 10K!

If you want to build up to jogging for longer times, try the Couch-2-5k app. That's how I was able to do it. (Someone might have suggested this already - I was too pressed for time to ready all of the replies).

I have a hubby and 2 kids. They don't really support me....hubby might go for a run/walk with me sometimes (maybe once a month). He needs to exercise too, but doesn't. Every time I try to serve "healthy" food, I get the "I don't like this" comments, looks, etc. It's hard to cook separately for myself. I do try to cook as…

That is great! You are very committed - no doubt you'll reach all of your goals. The first one is always the hardest.

Hi, I'm Joan. I'll be 50 at the end of the year, but would like to join your group now as I'm afraid I'll "forget" by then, LOL. I'm not "overweight" but on the tippy-top of the acceptabe range for my height. My goals for June are to drop about 4 pounds, meet my step goals, really focus on strength training and run/train…

I almost never eat before I go to the gym in the morning (around 4:30 a.m.) Once in a while I do feel "peakish" and I'll eat a granola bar before going. I do, however, drink a small cup of coffee before I go to the gym. I come home, shower and then eat breakfast.

LOL - I'm cheap. I don't like to pay for a soft drink at a restaurant because it's always so much ice. Plus, I'm not a big soda drinker, anyway. I always get water - I have a hard time drinking water during the day, so I figure this is a good way for me to meet my goal. Good job!

When I was taking guitar lessons I put a metronome app on my phone....I played with it for a while to find a pace that I could run too..... if you don't get annoyed listening to the "tick-toc-tick-toc" or whatever sound you use.... Also, the song "Stompa" worked for me.... :p

The thing that makes the difference for me is weighing and measuring all of my food. I was really off on "eyeballing" portions. For example, in the mornings I just sloshed in my cream into my coffee and counted it as 1 serving (35 calories). But 1 serving is only a tablespoon. I'd have 2 cups of coffee, - at least 2…

That's great! My weakest areas are the two Ps - planning and prepareing. You did a wonderful job!

All I can say is that if I do't weigh/measure my food, I overeat. I think I'm eating O.K., but then when I weigh/measure I see that I've been really off-target in portion control. Even the little things add up, like cream in my coffee and "tastes" here and there while cooking, etc.

What works for me.... coffee, vigorous exercise and magniseum supplements.

--That was us until we re-did our kitchen .... just finished last week. The click-click-clicking drove me nuts!

I didn't read all of the responses, but I get what you are saying. My sister has been a vegetarian for more than 20 years... and that's one of her main reasons. Her reasoning is that if we just used plants, veggies, etc. to feed people directly instead of using them to feed animials that will then be used to feed humans…

Have you ever seen the show on PBS "Classical Stretch"? You can also buy the DVD.... it's helped me so much when I've had back pain. No impact. I love it!

Well, I've been told that if the weight you are lifting at seems easy, it's time to increase the weight. I just did that with my dumbbell routine I do...I went from 5 lbs. to 8 lbs. (that's the next increment the gym has) and jeez-a-loo, I can really feel the difference! So I'd say increase the weights (just to the next…

Happy Birthday! I, too, am more health conscious and active now (age 49) than I was in the first 40 years of my life. Here's to 2nd acts!

We use it in our pool too! I didn't know it was edible.

I didn't read all of the comments, so I may be repeating something here, but a recent study showed that up to 7 servings of alcohol a week is actually good for you. I like red wine, I don't drink a glass every night because it affects my sleep, but I drink one or two a night during the weekend and I fit it into my calorie…

I love my children, but I know that once they are grown I will have more time to workout. Right now, I can only get to the gym at 4:30 or 5 in the morning -- before they get up, before work, school, etc. So, even though I don't want them to grow up, I know it will be easier for me.....kinda looking forward to that time,…

I completed C25k about 2 years ago... it took me 12 weeks instead of 9 because I had to "linger" on some weeks longer before I was ready to move on. I've run several 5ks since and I'm toying with do the Bridge to 10k to see if I can run a 10k. Keep at it, just go slower if you have to. :)

I've never watched the show, because it's not realistic for the rest of us at home. There's not many of us who can give over their lives to this.... we have lose weight and try to be healthy in the real world.
-
That's me! We have our own business - I'm at the office while the kids are in school, I leave to pick up my daughter then it's homework, get dinner going, kid activities, clean up, go to bed. Sometimes I drink a glass of wine at night, but if I drink it too late it makes my sleep "funny". Plus, I go to the gym at around…

I love mine! I have the fitbit one, that clips to your clothes. I didn't want to have a band on my wrist all the time.
-
I love this! When I saw the term "reducetarian" I thought it meant a person who is reducing caloric intake. LOL

I didn't read all of the responses, but this is what I do... for each cup (mug) of coffee is put in 2 TBS of 2% milk and then 1 serving (1 tbs) of Fat Free Vanilla Cream. The cream is only 25 calories. I'm not tracking sugar, so I don't know how much sugar that is...
