I like the treadmill....I do run at a slight incline. I also do an inclined walk warm up for about 7 minutes before running and an inclined walk cool-down. Try running on the middle of the belt, not all the way towards the front. Also, I'm sure you're not a handle-holder, but I see people at the gym running while holding…

1/4/15.. just for today (I already did it :D )... I will exercise, get in my 10k steps, measure - weigh everything, and log everything. Oh, and stay under! DONE!

Hello, you can add me if you like! I think it's great that you are taking your health / fitness seriously while you are young. If I could tell my younger self anything, it would be..... stay in shape! Be healthy! LOL (Better late than never, I guess)!

Yep, I think that is a great way - perhaps the best way....unfortunately, I am not so organized to do that although I am trying to be a bit more organized going into the new year. The two "Ps" are most important....planning and preparing!

This is for tomorrow....but just for today I'm.. 1. going to do some exercise (and get in my 10K steps) 2. log everything

Count me in! It's almost bedtime, so I'll start tomorrow...

I'm the opposite of you. I wouldn't like going to the gym with a friend because I'd be worrying about them, or what they thought of my work-out, etc. When I go, I have a quasi-plan in mind - I head right to the machine(s) I want, stick in my ear buds and work out. I'm in my own little world. It helps that I go so early in…

Good for you (literally)! It's great to see someone as young as you taking your health seriously..... :)

I am an early riser by nature. I started getting up to exercise at 4 or 4:30 because I was waking up at that time anyway (I have sleep issues), so I decided to use that time for the gym. I work and and after work it's all about the kids, homework, dinner, etc. So I can't exercise in the evening. I would say that if you are…

My brother-in-law will deep-fry a turkey... when I cook the turkey I always cook it in one of those Reynolds Oven bags.... the turkey comes out sooooooo moist and tender.

I didn't read through all of the replies, so maybe someone already recommended this...the elliptical. I do run, but when I had leg and foot issues, I used the elliptical ... you really get a good burn on it. Also a stationary bike (I hear the recumbent bike is good) or a real bike if you like that. BTW - thank you for your…

Fat Bottom Girls....it's my favorite to listen to at the gym. :s

I didn't read through the responses, but my reason is that I am afraid I will "fudge" (pardon the expression) if I know people will view my diary. Also, I'm pretty sensitive to criticism, and I'm very hard on myself. Logging is for me to evaluate myself.

Congrats to you! Good luck on your 5K! They are fun! (I never thought I'd say that about running, LOL). I didn't start running until I was 46.

I am going to give you an example of why measuring and logging is so important. I like to have cream in my coffee. At first, I wasn't logging it. Then I decided to log just one serving of it (35 cals) but I wasn't measuring it ...I was just pouring it in. One day I decided I would measure the amount I used. I was putting…

I didn't used to count my coffee creamer until I measured it and realized how much I was using...there was about a 70-100 calorie difference.

I keep my diary closed. I know when I ate too much junk or not. If I had an open diary, I'd be tempted to fib a bit to save face. I don't usually look at my friends food diaries (if they are open), but if I do, I will only comment on the good things or not say anything at all. I won't sugar-coat something, I'll just not…

I did C25K about 2 years ago (the ripe old age of 46!) ...it took me 12 weeks to finish because I had to spend extra time on some weeks.... but here it is 2 years later and I can still run (slowly, I'll admit) 5Ks. I have a few under my belt and I'm thinking of starting the Bridge to 10K program. I loved C2%K - I was never…

Our stats are almost identical - I'm just a couple of years behind you( I'm almost 49), I'm almost 5'6" and I've been stuck in the mid-150s for the last couple of years. Sometimes I get down to a little lower (I'd like to be ultimately at 145), but I just don't think I could stay there. How are your hormones? Your thyroid?…

My husband isn't very supportive either. He thinks life should go on as always...but we've been married almost 25 years and we've both gained a little weight. I'm trying to be healthier, but he doesn't see that weight or lifestyle is an issue. I'm actually worried about him... even though he's not supportive of me, I know…

You are so young, so this might be hard to hear, but 1) she's a toxic friend and 2) you need to be your own person. Ultimately, it is up to you and you have to have the wherewithall to break away from her if you truly want to "do your own thing". It makes me wonder in what other areas of life she is controlling /…

Really, good for you! I've lost both parents and a brother-in-law to smoking related illnesses! I think you look great -- the important thing is to be healthy and have healthy habits. I also love red wine! (I'm a winer!)

What usually helps me is doing something active. If I haven't exercised in a while, I feel the same way. Even if you go for a quick walk - it will boost your spirits and then maybe you'll be motivated to take another baby step. I never regret exercising - but I always regret it when I don't.

I have a kind of insomnia, too. I can fall asleep fine - because I'm usually dead tired, but I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep. Many times I'm awake for over an hour or two. That is how I got started with exercising so early in the morning. I'd wake up, be unable to go back to sleep (around 4…
