  • My doctor prescribed the Vivelle Dot for me. It's a patch that I apply 2x per week and it has helped me a lot.
  • I usually wake up about 4:15 to 4:30 a.m. I get to the gym usually around 4:45 a.m. or 5. I get home just about 6 am, make son's breakfast, take a shower, wake up daughter and feed her, finishing getting ready for school and work, take daugter to school (thank God my son's school is in walking distance and get to work by…
  • I don't think we should get so hung up on a number (easier said than done) Especially as we get older it's harder to lose those last 5 lbs and KEEP THEM OFF. I don't know how old you are, but I'm 47 and I lose 1 or 2 lbs of my last 5, but then gain them back again.. It's been going on like this forever. I'm within my…
  • Wonderful! I especially like how you and your wife were in this together. Is your wife still going strong? And...I agree - it's not a journey, it's life. I am so happy for your achievements!
  • The three that drive me up the wall the most made it to your list: supposably, heighth and orientate. I thought I was crazy because EVERYONE uses "heighth" .... I almost Googled it to see if I was the incorrect person. Same with supposably,.... I thought it was a California thing (I'm originally from New York)... glad to…
  • I always say that I never regret working out... but I always regret it when I don't. I tell myself that almost every morning when I get up to go to the gym at around 4:45 a.m. And I'm always in a good mood when I'm done. And that mood carries me through most of the day :)
  • Yep, I too was diagnosed with plantar fascitis and a bone spur on my heel (same foot). Right now I'm using podiatrist - provided inserts - he said I may have to come back for a cortisone shot if it keeps hurting. It is, but I just started running again this week. Doesn't hurt too much while I'm running, but afterwards, OH…
  • I am the same.- I'm actually post-menopausal - had early on-set menopause at 42......I read an article somewhere that said at some point, your body just "settles" - it has a more or less natural weight that it stays at based on genetics, hormones, etc. I seem to be stuck around 150 lbs. Sometimes I get down to 148 or 149,…
  • That's not a mini, that's a major sucess because I'm sure you'll (we all will) be faced with that circumstance again and now you know you have the resolve! Good for you!:flowerforyou:
  • That's great! You are the opposite of me.... I am in my weight range (mid to upper) and do pretty well with eating, but can't seem to get very FIT! I'm flabby! I do cardio pretty well but I need to firm up! Your bike rides sound marvelous! You love fabulous!
  • I am 47 years old and started early menopause a couple of years ago! It's great not having periods anymore, but I'm struggling with everything else. I'm usig a bio hormone patch and creme and that helps alot.
  • This is true! We all make our own choices. I was kind of blaming my husband a bit... we work together and just about everyday that he's in the office he wants to go out to lunch. So I didn't want to hurt is feelings by turning him down,(plus we don't get too many "date" nights with the kids around, so lunchtime makes up…
  • I go to the gym during the week around 4:45 a.m. It's truly the only time I get to exercise. I don't set an alarm - 95% of the time I wake up in time to go - if I don't, I don't beat myself up, because I need the sleep. Most nights I average about 6 to 6.5 hours of sleep, so if I happen to oversleep a bit, I know I needed…
  • You can do this! And for yourself! And to prove to yourself that you can acheive anything if you set your mind to it. I do believe (generally speaking) that it is harder for women in a marriage with kids to commit to a fitness lifestyle (i.e. take care of themselves) because we are so busy taking care of everyone else. I'm…
  • I love that show! It's one of my "guilty pleasures" on TV!
  • I used to be a WW member too. Several years ago, I lost 30 lbs in a year with WW, but then I made the grave error of not staying a lifetime member. Then I hit early menopause (at 42) and the weight started creeping back up. I tried WW again about 2 years ago, and couldn't do it. The people at the group were NOT very…
  • Started running and ran my first-ever 5K! At age 46!
  • I think I understand what you mean about being hungry all the time because you were on a feeding tube for a while. When my daughter was born, she couldn't nurse or ingest anything for her first few days - she had an IV. But after a few days, she was the loudest baby in NICU, the nurses started giving her some sugar water…
  • I'm 46 and was just looking at my shrinking friend list - several friends have dropped out.. I'll send you a friend request. I've been on for almost 1 year. I'm not judgemental and I keep my friend list low.
  • I know I'm an old fogey, but this is one of the reasons I'm not on Facebook. If I really wanted to connect with someone, I would. I'm in the same position - moved to SoCal when I was a kid, but most of my relatives (many whom I haven't met or haven't seen in about 40 years) are back east. Sometimes people have popped-up…
  • Hi! My name is Joan and I'm 46. I live in Southern California, about 40 miles east of L.A. I am married with two kids - an 8 year-old daughter and a 14-year old son. My husband and I have our own business with 6 other employees and (thankfully) lots of work. Which is good, but stressful. Weight-wise, I'm in my range, (but…
  • When I miss a day of "intense" excercise, it's mostly because of my schedule. But lately sometimes I will "rest" from running and try something else because I am having knee issues. I think getting at least 1 day a week rest from "planned" exercise would be good for your body - but you could still do something else fun or…
  • A 1976 orange Chevy Nova - I shared with my twin sister. Plus, my mom didn't drive, so it was really the family car and we were sorta-kinda like her chauffers (spelling?).
  • This is my dog Ginger - I changed my profile picture to this a few weeks ago - we adopted her from the Humane Society and we LOVE her so much!
  • I loved (hated) it! I never liked running before - but decided to try the program..... it took me 12 weeks to finish - I had to do a couple of weeks more than once. BUT, I finished it! I'm 46, and had never been a runner. After finishing, I focused on increasing my speed and endurance. I completed my first 5K a couple of…
  • That's the best NSV - something related to your health! Good for you!
  • We have our own business and our data entry lady asked us to move her work station around for a "standing" desk. We have a higher counter in the front office for her to use and a stool-type chair, so we just had to move her computer, etc. to the new station. We were lucky because we pretty much had a setup ready (I had…
  • I would check with your doctor. Typically, menopause is described as not having a period for a year or more. Your doctor could run a blood test to check your hormone levels. You are young, but it's not unheard of to start menopause early. I was about 42. (Ii'm now 46). Good luck!
  • Just got (yesterday) a 2012 Buick Enclave - I love it! I went from a Santa Fe (kind of a small SUV) to this 7-seater, so I have to get used to it, but we all love it!
