I don't do diets...period. I watch my calories and exercise as a way of life. It works and I don't have to diet.

I see this time and time again 2 things, people who don't see results did not change their diet or their diet got worse because they were so hungry. The CUT look is from low body fat which comes from doing what we do here...counting calories, eating low fat. 2. P90x X stands for extreme. I could not do it very well, I am…

Welcome, Many people (most in fact) have fat distributed everywhere on their bodies not just on the hips or gut. One of the first places I lost it was my shoulders, arms and under my arms. I can see how your choices to be in the kitchen a lot could be hurtful to your efforts...I recommend more exercise and learning some…

My iPod and a great pair of running shoes.

I would challenge you to think of those pounds not as "as a reminder of my sorrow, my failure and my loss" but as the price you paid for a human life... a success. Now its time to get healthy so you can be the best mommy and wife you can be for your family again....these are even more worthy goals than just for yourself.…

Keep in mind that this calorie goal is a an ESTIMATE. You might need more or less than that and no one can figure that out but you. Check your weight often (even better if you could measure your fat), One or two pounds a week is great...and healthy. If you are losing then you are right at the right spot. If you are staying…

It depends on your own fitness level and the intensity of your workout. For some 3 times a week with rests in between or shorter workouts to tone up are more than enough. Once your body gets used to that however you need to change it up, add more or better yet, change the type of exercises you do. Every BODY is different.…

The only thing worse for me is Swimming. If I swim the next day I am totally famished all day. I find protein bars to be a good meal suppliment because they are usually 300 calories or less which is less than an average meal.

Not knowing what your daily BMI is supposed to be, it sounds like your food intake needs to be tweaked. This is not an exact science...it's a good guess and everyone's body is different. 1 pound a week is actually quite healty, so if you said 2 pounds, I'd say you were right on track, but youare correct it is a litle slow.…

I've been losing about a pound to a pound and half a week for the last two months. THat is perfect and exactly what doctors recommend. You mentioned the "D" word. Real permanent weight loss is about being healthy not going on a diet...a diet means that sometime it will end and you'll go back to the way you were. This is…

Welcome aboard. For me using MFP accurately is the key to my weight loss, particularly knowing when to stop eating for the day. Even if I have to go to bed feeling a bit hungry, I know it will pay off and so far 15 pounds in less than 2 months..wow. I only had about 25 pounds to lose so others may lose more faster but for…

Not really true no but you should eat afterwards to recover and I have heard it is a great recovery drink , though I don't like sugary foods so I don't. Only one way to lose weight....consume less calories than you burn. Chocolate milk supposedly a good recovery drink, but help you burn calories more than other foods, I…

I agree with Sweetrn, her answer was much more accurate than mine. You can raise that number through activity and you should. First however its good to try to find out what that number is for you. The tool on this site (and any other) are just a guess. Everyone is different. the best way is to eat as much or more than your…

Not sure why it said you should NEVER do that because that is how you lose weight. however you don't want to starve yourself, that is a recipe for bad health and doesn't work for permanent weight loss. Eating just under what your body needs to maintain it's current weight (your BMR) you begin to lose a at a safe and…

Good calls from ghanie and while I understand cutting white rice and white bread since they are high calorie and high starch for little nutritional value, potatoes are not that high of calories and are quite good for you. A HUGE baked potato is only 140 calories and some of that is also offset by th the fiber in it too.…

I agree with the rest theory. I am not much of a runner, I do run a couple days a week but due to bad ankles, i don't do more than that. However, I have a friend who is a marathon runner and he says every OTHER day. Rest is every bit as important as the exercise itself.

For me it is because I am so hungry on my off days from the workout the day before. Working out definately makes me way more hungry the next day...especially if it was swimming or something very strenuous.

As a general rule, anything that says QUICK or CLEANSE is bad for you and although may provide some immediate weight loss (Probably water) you will not keep it off once you get back to normal food intake. There is nothing quick about weight loss Unfortunately. 1 to 3 pounds a week is the healthy way and although it seems…

I am writing this recipe down....nice.

Tequila....plain...the good stuff...forget the mixer. :-)...except I just checked 69 calories for ONE SHOT!...bummer

I agree with everyone here...swimming burns calories like crazy. BUT check with your doctor and be careful. IF it hurts dont' do it, just watch your calories even more closely over the next couple of weeks and take a break from exercise.

Wow from what you said 800 calories with working out, now I know for sure that you are starving your body. You need to give your body the nutrition it needs to it can burn like a furnace. You cut out the food, it shuts down goes into starvation mode. You will lose muscle and that is not good..very unhealthy. According to…

Good question, I hear this one a lot. It is true that muscle weigh's more than fat but it takes weeks if not months to put on pounds of muscle only if you are working out 3 to 5 times a week. For some people with high metabolism it can take 6 months or a year to put on 5 pounds of muscle. In that time, they probably would…

Yes...and no. Yes ; The bottom line is the calories. If you are burning (working out, moving around) and eating less than your daily requirements, you will lose, no matter what kind of food it is. BUT For overall fitness, yes it matters. You need a good balance of carbs, protein and fiber. You will feel better and have…

She is right. It is not your calories being to high. You should up them until you start losing again. ALso take one day a week at least and eat your full amount for daily maintaining (not losing). What happens is your body adjusts to the low calorie level and the metabolism slows down, conserving energy. 2. Change your…
