Yeah I must admit for one of my meals I did use a generic "1 portion" entry... (Which I don't usually do) But I guess I was just asking in general, what the acceptable level of leeway is...

Third time in my life ever cleaning a car. Lol. Might just log it as one hour light cleaning.

I think... ....thirst sends out the same signal to your brain as hunger..... So a lot of people tend to eat more if they do not drink enough.
-
Surely even if you ate back your exercise calories, or were really sedentary, you would still lose more than that, if you genuinely eating 1200 cals
-
I've not heard of that one, not sure if its available in the UK!
-
Thank you. Yes I love cheese! (And it then *****es at me for eating too much cholesterol?!) And nuts are good. I'm mainly a savoury person, but if I can find a food quality chocolate then that's all good! I'll probably find that once I get my head around it, and up the cals, I'll wonder how I ever managed on 1200! It…

Yeah that's why I put "clean" in quotes! But surely there must be many benefits to eating real food rather than processed junk / e-numbers, etc
-
Yeah. I must admit. I've been on 1200 for the past few weeks - and I'm a 5"9 guy of 28 years.... I made the mistake of thinking "ooooh I can lose 2lbs a week" .... and thought it was fine. Luckily for me, I started to read the message board, and now know better. So am upping my calories gradually. Also have to admit I've…

Thanks. And yes, it has eased off considerably overnight. I am guessing I've been working muscles that I've never really used before. And yeah I've been eating more protein to help them recover!

Well there is a good gym on campus which I could get at a good discount! But I don't live on campus I live an hour away and I carpool with people, otherwise I could go after classes! Maybe my local gym does a student discount I'll have to enquire. I have to admit tho, I am kind of scared of gyms I find them really…

That's good advice. Thanks. Can't you tell I'm a total n00b! PS, sorry I can't work out how to multi-quote, hence all the individual replies.
-
Thanks. I'm from the UK my local gym starts a about £35 - £40 - I'm on a student budget so its a lot for me but it could be do-able.... I might readjust my finances!
-
Thanks for the link. I read the whole thing and it sounds pretty spot on :)
-
Well its a 6 week challenge, but thanks - taken on board, I will look into other options.
-
Hey thqnk you both for replying. I was just reading up on that actually! The problem is that I can't afford all the stuff needed / a gym membership! Which is why I thought bodyweight exercises would be a good starting point.
-
I don't think its possible to burn fat and build muscle at the same time!
-
I just did what the website said and did "good form" pushups.... On the ground. (So typical ones)
-
I was on citalopram for nearly a year, and didn't gain weight! Didn't lose it either, but wasnt trying to at the time.

I jump on my scales as a matter of course, every morning.... And it gets logged because I have those fancy scales that automatically sync your weight and body-fat to my fitness pal. Obviously sometimes the weight goes up slightly, but you can call up a graph to see the difference over the course of a week / month / year.…

Like another person said, if its someone you see on a regular basis, then its more difficult for them to notice. I always found that the people to notice were the ones that you only see once in a blue moon!
-
Thank you vismal. You are an absolute legend. I have already started trying to increase cals as I got a bit ocd about weighing everything and some days I took in under 1,000, so I've been trying to increase and take in more protein especially. I even grabbed a protein bar today ( although I'm not sure artificial stuff like…

I think it's fundamentally flawed anyway. Say you make a stir fry or casserole... OK you weigh all the meat, vegetables, whatever and log it into the recipe.... Fine so far.... OK then you say well I'm going to eat 1/4 of the dish.... And you log that into your daily diary.... OK, that sounds great.... But heres the…

https://help.fitbit.com/customer/portal/articles/968570-how-should-i-store-and-clean-my-aria-scale-
-
Yes. I read somewhere on the fitbit site that if you move them (especially if you store them upright) then the first result will be inaccurate because it will be out of calibration.
-
Are you moving the scales before you step on? If so it takes 1 time to recalibrate. Fwiw I always do a best-of-three to account for any inaccuracies ... The fitbit app seems to take an average.
-
OK - so as I've said I've read the whole thread, so I hope you don't mind if I pop out a few questions... first of all let's make sure I've grasped the whole concept correctly..... 1. you start of on a calorie deficit to get rid of body fat... but you start to do weights asap to preserve the muscle mass you have 2. you…

Op I'm really sorry but I agree with everyone else. This was me. About 10 years ago when I was about your age. I lost far too much weight. I was technically underweight. I looked ill, and probably was ill. My body got covered in grotesque body hair because its the body's defence mechanism to keep warm when not receiving…
-
hey just to say thanks OP. I've learned a lot from you, I've read the whole thread! and you've done so well. ive mainly learned the importance of being really accurate and measuring when logging food intake - I have to say I'm guilty of this myself (I often just tick "one portion") or whatever. I've got my calorie limit…
-
Oh OK I have just rechecked my charts and actually I've lost 3.5lbs this week, which seems more sensible. I don't know where they were getting their figures from on that email!
-
Its been about 3 or 4 weeks since I started trying to lose weight but the 5lbs has just been for the past week. Maybe it is just water retention
