awesome work! this is an inspiration. I'll be sure to forward this to others that could use it too.

The pile of clothes in the bottom of my closet for donating, that are way too big on me, is getting bigger. I keep finding shirts that I haven't worn in years, that are not not only out of style, but they look like dresses on me, or 'garbage bags' as my daughter refers to them.

Went on a group ride organized by the local bike shop and A guy I've known for a while (and looked up to as a mountain biker) and I were talking. He said "So you're getting pretty fast huh?, I didn't realize that was you at the end of that last race."

Aren't those clothing experiences great? Good Job on your weight loss!

It should be noted that the basis of this guideline was 8 cups (measuring cups), which got changed to 'glasses' along the way. In any case, it should be a minimum for the average person. Slowly drinking it is better than chugging a cup at a time, though.

amazing job. you went from a forced smile to a real one! You really do look happier.

how much water do you drink per day?

Use quinoa; you can substitute anywhere for rice. It also has complete protein and lots of other good things. Google it, and you'll see what I mean.

lots of raw vegetables with a delicious but healthy dip, has been a staple for me. Ditto for salad otherwise. I don't know what you do, but I never eat any bread. drink your 8 cups of water a day for sure if you aren't already.

Thanks guys! krjack2 that's cool, I used to look at 'those guys' at the beginning of the races, and now I'm slowly becoming one of them. It is quite surreal.

Thanks all for your kind words! I wasn't sure if this post was going into oblivion since nobody saw it for a few days. I did another local race (weekly summer series) Wednesday and got 15th out of 80. Just 5 seconds behind the women's champ of the original race above.

Never really cared for olives, but I have antipasto on crackers, and I love it!

Actually you do put in your goal weight, along with your lbs or kg per week: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/change_goals_guided

I met someone we hadn't seen in a while and she was concerned and relieved to hear that I wasn't sick (i.e. cancer or some other serious illness). I found it quite amusing because the person is known for being straightforward/blunt at times.

30 lbs since Dec 5, but I am almost in the "healthy" BMI now. (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/tools/bmi-calculator)

Always. But I wasn't a big water drinker and it helped to keep track, or to keep "score" to make sure I got enough.

Age means nothing, it is all in your attitude! I am 42, almost 43, but I go snowboarding and skiing with my father-in-law, who is 85. He started snowboarding when he was in his 70s!

agree 100%

It will come soon. I did not get any comments until about 20 lbs. Then EVERYBODY started talking.
