It's great that there are so many of us! Any others?

This is great! It's so nice to see that there are so many in the same boat. We can do this!!

Hi, Blondeillegally! Glad to meet you. Anyone else in with a similar goal who'd like to be friends?

Awesome! Nice to meet you, CurlySue :)

If folks are interested in a new-to-running club in Philadelphia, we can make a group on MFP and organize that way!
-
Ha! Yup, I did see them and just finished editing my post. You look AMAZING! What a HUGE difference.

Wow, Kath, I knew you were doing well, but this?!? Holy cow! You are a rockstar! Your hard work is paying off BIG TIME! The difference is SO noticeable in the pictures. Way to go! Edited because I just saw the pictures! You look awesome!

Any DSM edition will prove that psychiatric disorders actually exist, which was the request of the person to whom I was replying. Sure, the DSM-IV is the most current published edition, but there is soon to be a fifth edition that will render the fourth obsolete. There is no need for snark when we're on the same team.…

It's called the DSM.

i LOVE Shakesville for more serious/advanced feminist dicussion, and Femisiting and Jezebel for more fun. I also love Tiger Beatdown, Colorlines, and Persephone.

Absolutely! The piece of the debate that I struggle with the most is my own intentions for losing weight. Am I losing weight so that I can LOOK awesome in a bikini or so that I can FEEL awesome in a bikini? Do I want to be strong to impress people or so that I can be more independent? Do I want to get rid of my flabby arms…

Hello! I am Eliza. I am 25 years old and have identified as a feminist since I was 10. I am in graduate school to become a social worker, and I hope to work with survivors of gender violence in my career. While I am passionate about all issues affecting women (reproductive justice, the politics of motherhood, pay equality,…

I want to honestly thank you for calling attention to the privilege inherent in feminism. It absolutely is an elite movement for people with power. The third and fourth waves of feminism have attempted to address this, but there certainly is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to including/creating space for women…

Thank you! This is all getting ridiculous.
-
He'd respect you, little lady, if only you weren't such a feminist! Proof that feminism ruins everything.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that there would be so many anti-feminist comments here. I started this thread to meet other like-minded people, not to provide an elementary definition of feminism or to point out why feminism is important. If you don't see the rampant misogyny and hatred of women's bodies and voices, then…

Anyone?

I love Zumba! I've found that the difficulty varies by teacher. I am a TERRIBLE dancer, so I struggle with classes that are led by teachers with a strong background in dance, but I LOVE classes that are led by teachers with more of an aerobics orientation. It really depends on the teacher, and it's so worth a try!

Great idea! We tend to give the scale too much power. I'm here to look and feel great, not to obsess over a number. Thanks for the idea!

Does anyone else think it's strange when men leave endless comments rebutting a post that is actually for women? I find it particularly strange that 3-5 men keep coming back to say the same exact thing. Concern trolling at its finest. There's a wide range of responses from smart and fit women on this thread. Thanks dudes,…

I'm going echo the comments about Zumba. I cannot speak highly enough about it! I burn over 500 calories in an hour, and it never feels like a workout; it feels like I'm dancing with my friends. I strongly recommend it for anyone who wants a workout that doesn't feel like a workout!

Yoga often looks a whole lot easier than it is. Holding the poses is great for strengthening muscles, improving balance, and gaining flexibility. Also, keep in mind that there are many types of yoga. Just one example: Vinyasa is much more athletic than Hatha, which is more of a meditation. There are a TON of different…
