  • I haven't checked in for a while, but my running is still going well. Training for my first half marathon in May is going well. My long runs are up to 11-12 miles now and I've been over 20 miles a week for the last month. I have my first 5 mile race this Sunday, and the weather looks like it is going to be great - looking…
  • I've been slacking on the posting lately, but not on the running. Did a personal long run of 8 miles last Saturday. The current goal is to bump that up 1 mile a week, taper off in April and run my first half in May. I've been getting to the gym once or twice a week for some strength training on my non-running days. My goal…
  • Just got in from a 4 mile run at lunch. Splits were 8:42, 9:14, 9:44, 9:56. Had a pretty good week. Got 4 outdoor runs in, but only made it to the gym for some weights once. Did a bunch of push ups and pull ups at home and had to ride the stationary bike once at home to get my workout in one day. Ate pretty good, but still…
  • I love to cook, and do most of the cooking for my family.
  • Had a good run at lunch today. Was planning on doing 4 miles, but felt good and kept going. Did 5 and 1/3 at a 10min/mile pace. I hope to get to the gym tomorrow to do some weight training. Wife and I made homemade chicken soup tonight, that will be lunch the rest of the week.
  • Ran my first 5K this morning. I went out a bit too fast, and slogged a bit around the 2 mile mark. Luckily the last quarter mile was all downhill. My goal was to be around 30 minutes, and I ended up finishing in 28.22. Had a blast, and can't wait until my next race.
  • I am planning to run my first half in the fall. I just started running around Thanksgiving. I am currently running 5.5 miles once a week, and 3 or 4 miles at lunch at work another 3 days. I'm going to start bumping up a long run on the weekends soon if the weather cooperates.
  • HI All, Ran 4 miles at lunch on Monday. No running yesterday, but did my wife's 20 minute ab video with her, and a bunch of push ups, curls, and some overhead presses with dumbbells. Going to run another 4 today at lunch. I have my first 5K this Sat and just signed up for a 5 mile race in March. I'm hoping for good weather…
  • Did a 5.5 mile run today to "pay" for a night out with some old friends. Had a fun time watching college hockey at Fenway Park. Had a cheeseburger, but managed to limit myself to only 2 beers and only a small handful of fries. Back to the healthy food tomorrow!
  • Couldn't get out for a run during lunch at work today because we had a team lunch. Just finished an hour on the stationary bike. My knees were making these crazy little popping/clicking noises for most of the time. No pain associated with them though. I also did 50 pushups 30/20/10 and a few sets of curls with the one set…
  • I love books too, but they did a great job with the basic Kindle. I was shocked that once I started using it I don't miss the physical book at all. The screen contrast is fantastic (on the classic reader, not the fire) and you never lose your page! BTW, Pillars of the Earth - Fantastic book.
  • Posting to drop this into my topics. My goal for the coming year is to lose another 20-25 lb.
  • A little more about myself. I started taking my health seriously a few months ago pretty much for the first time since high school. I am 5'7" and in high school was an athletic 165. By the time I graduated college I was 185 and the pounds creeped on over the years. I got as high as 225 at times, but then would eat better…
  • Hi, new runner here, only been at it since a little before Thanksgiving. I can't believe I am enjoying it. I even managed 4 miles in the 18 degree cold yesterday morning. I will be going out at lunchtime today to buy some cold weather gear. First 5K coming up in January. Will start looking for a 10K to sign up for in the…
