Btw I know it doesn't sound like much...but I am almost 57 and short and female.

Hi I am 56. I'm having trouble losing weight! I got back into powerlifting last year and I would like to lose my fat tummy and make it into a lower competition weight class. My favorite thing is the deadlift! It's tough as you get older though.

Rowing machine it just kicks me to the curb every time.

I also love love love all my calluses and I will never wear gloves. Anyway, you can't wear them in competition. And who doesn't want a big @ss trophy?

I have loads of arthritis in my fingers that reduces my grip. I switched to and over/under grip. I also use chalk when I get to where I'm having to really work (above maybe 200). I also bought one of those grip trainers that rock climbers use. I keep it in my car and if I am stuck at a light I get in a quick 10 reps.

Agreed, you likely need to tweak your form a little. And do be sure you only DL one day a week.

You don't weightlift? As I age I find if I want to lose or maintain, I *have* to lift, and lift heavy. Gave up yoga, it's okay but just not as time efficient as moving heavy bits of metal about. I have a bento box set but only use it for snacks. lol

I wish I had the time and arm strength left after weighlifting, but I never will. I just use this (got it for free from the gym by cashing in my you-attended-a-class-here's-5-points rewards.) I live where it's hot, so space for blue ice is mission critical.…

When I am a hotel and watching tv, I use a deck of cards to pick an exercise. I have a little cheat sheet with several groups of four exercises, each one being one of the suits. The number of the card equals the reps I have to do. So 10 of spades might mean 10 burpees. Joker is rest. Gotta love the joker.

Don't ask why to questions there's no good answer to. Just be yourself, do your thing, and be happy. You'll create your own little gravity well, and they just might join you in a more healthy lifestyle. Works for me, anyway.

You know what I do? I make an evil game out of it. If someone avoids eye contact with me, or is a sourpuss, then the next time I see them I give them a big smile, serious eye contact, and a loud happy HI THERE. You will get a good laugh out of it, and the ones who are avoiding you will squirm, and the ones with social…

I log my dog agility practice sessions as moderate paced walk.

We found a pair of panties by the Smith machine the other day. Just thought I would throw that out there. lol

Great ideas! Thanks!

I think they are (1) not paid to do that and (2) worried about liability should you injure yourself without supervision. That said, I did have a trainer do that, but this was a YMCA guy and it was in the early 80s, so a very different time and not a McGym. Remember those gym trainers have sales quotas, so the more work he…

I've never had a trainer who will do that, at least not in a "McGym". What I've done is returned and done the same workout twice more and cardio the other days. I've also followed "New Rules" for women in addition to the PT session. That was really tough but I improved a lot. Good luck!

It's funny, I tried sumo last May when I got back into lifting. I didn't like it then, it felt awkward to me to. But my form's so much better now. I tried it mostly on a dare (took some plates off first, I am not stupid!), but it felt very fluid. I was really surprised. Then my buddies got a ruler and measured how far I…

Thanks everybody. Think I will mix it up for a while and see what works. Last night was only 50% max so it felt light anyway. I will have to see what happens when we ramp up the weight again in a month.

Awesome!

I am a unit eater. I eat the unit. One red vine, or one cannister of red vines. Either way, I eat the unit.

Can't decide between Earl Thomas III and Russell Wilson. Obsessed with checking out their workouts, which are insane.

I recently started taking it before a lifting session. I resisted for a long time...when I lifted heavy in my twenties I never had problems with energy level. I do now in my fifties, it's really made a difference for me. Just hit my 250+ deadlift goal. Heading for 300+ by August. I take it in a protein shake about 2 hours…

I've tried a lot of nice running and cross training shoes and by far my favorites are my lowly Chuck Taylors. I just don't run in them.

Not quite sure what bingo wings are, but if you are talking upper arms, then diet (80% of it, sorry but there it is) and weightlifting did it for me. Honestly, I could walk all day and still be fat. Deadlifts and bench press have given me arms like Michelle Obama. Good luck!

I count mine, I earned them and I am proud of each one.

So, it's some videos, a meal plan, and tupperware? I must be missing something!

Plus, I have long arms. I am pretty much built for this. My goal is 300+ by August. B)

Take dance class!! Agility is like salsa dancing at a sprint.

I baked my trainer an apple pie and he was so excited he ran to the break room to have a slice. Came back with crumbs on his shirt.
