  • Exactly!! I've seen the website "People of Walmart" .. what a riot. I've been in A LOT of Walmart stores from Nova Scotia, Ontario and Alberta and I've never seen the stereotypical American version of shoppers in any of them. Not saying they don't exist but just not in the same ratio as the States reports (thankfully). The…
  • Nova Scotia here ... Originally Cape Breton Island but living on the Mainland now. Yay Bluenosers!!
  • Yeah PCOS sucks. Limit/eliminate as much simple sugars as possible and limit carbs (white grains and pastas). Easier said than done but do your best :)

  • I'm in Nova Scotia. Just got back on the fitness wagon after a 2 year hiatus, LOL.
  • That was just on the local news here the other day ... There's a hooping class actually and I would totally do it. Looks like A LOT of fun and a great workout. I might buy myself a hoop and have fun with it. It would be a nice change from walking and the stationary bike.
  • Yes, good point. I've just been getting flack for reporting the high calorie burn numbers by ppl claiming it isn't possible to burn 1000+ cals on a walk. I was assuming the HRM wasn't that accurate.
  • Yeah, no chest strap on the HRM and the phone app does know my weight, height, etc ... I just can't get over the HUGE variance between the two when it comes to the calorie burn. I've had this HRM for about 4 years and the app for a couple of weeks. My executive decision is to ditch the HRM and got with the app. If nothing…
  • I would buy a better HRM if you are looking for a tool. I find the numbers MFP gives for exercise is very low compared to what I get with my HRM because everyone is different. Same with the Map My Walk app on my phone.
  • Get out walking!!! I'm a SAHM. My oldest is 7 and in school and I have a 19 month old. We have been taking daily walks. Every morning we get out for a minimum of an hour or two and walk. If she's too big for a stroller, get a wagon. The added resistance of pulling the extra weight will be a great workout! We walked for 10…
  • Welcome!! Wishing you all the best in your journey. Start slow and work up. Nothing will happen overnight. Walking is great exercise.
  • I would consult a doctor. I'm no expert but I'm certain pain isn't good. Maybe stick to walking??
  • You need food.
  • I log all walks. I try to walk twice a day. Mornings (between 1-2 hours) while pushing a stroller and evenings(45 mins-1 hr.), alone to de-stress.
  • This!!! Start taking a prenatal vitamin or at least folic acid BEFORE getting pregnant. Consult your Dr. to get a proper baseline for weight, blood pressure, etc.
  • I'm not a gym user. I prefer to just get out walking and work up to running intervals. I'd look into something like Zumba though. Everyone sweats and has a great time.
  • I wouldn't worry too much about the scale and focus more on how clothes are fitting.
  • I have PCOS and losing weight definitely doesn't come easy for me. Took me a year to lose 40 lbs! You aren't alone with the struggle. I know how frustrating it is.
  • I never count household chores unless it's shoveling snow, mowing the lawn or raking leaves ... those things to me burn more calories than washing dishes, mopping the floors ... etc.
  • I'm sorry he isn't more supportive. I wonder why he felt the need to comment about the BL contestants and he isn't there for you. You should talk to him about it and tell him it would be nice if he would support you more on your journey. I'm thinking this is a possibility: when you see the same person day in and day out…
  • I agree, I don't think it was IUD related but more PCOS related. I too suffered a miscarriage in 2004 and after researching, women with PCOS do have a higher miscarriage rate. My OB/GYN at the time was very hopeful and said "at least you know you CAN get pregnant". Hang in there!
  • I have 2 girls. The first - 2006 was a medicated conception (Metformin and Clomid). The second - 2011 was unmedicated after a 40 lb. weight loss (SURPRISE!!).
  • Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, supper, snack .. to keep your sugar from dropping between meals.
  • The only way I burned any amount of decent calories with the Wii Fit was to do the free step for about an hour while really rocking out to some good tunes BUT after doing that for a month or so it didn't really feel like a work out.
  • This is what I was going to say. The people who see you every day get used to you and don't notice the changes like someone who only sees you once in a while. Hang in there and keep up the great work!!
  • Sit down and drink a glass of water before hitting the buffet tables. It will help fill you up so you won't pile a ton on your plate. Have a salad or bowl of soup as a appetizer. It is possible to hit a buffet and still be good. It's all about choices. I'm one who doesn't deprive myself though. If you want it, eat it ..…
  • Congratulations! I had a surprise pregnancy almost a year ago after losing weight. It is very possible to stay in shape and not gain too much weight during pregnancy but your baby will need a few extra calories for development. That's not saying to go out and eat enough for two people like many people assume .. lol My own…
  • I don't think that's the issue here. A LOT of people who are members HERE are also doing other programs. Whether it be Weight Watchers, P90X, 30 Day Shred, etc ... if you're a member HERE you know it's a great support site BUT some people require more motivation and a human element to their accountability and there's no…
  • The pill messes with your already messed up hormones .. having PCOS. I was on the BCP for a couple of years and was never able to lose much weight. However, after stopping and just following a good diet and working out .. I lost weight and then got my period regularly, not needing the pill. It's a vicious circle with PCOS.
  • Yes you can! With the help of this site and a Nutritionist I didn't gain much weight at all and I was back to my pre pregnancy weight and wearing my pre pregnancy clothing immediately after delivery. It was fantastic! Congratulations and good luck!!!
