  • sweet 'taste' does not trigger insulin release so don't worry about that. Also, this reminds me of the "don't use swiffer wet jet because propylene glycol is similar to ethylene glycol" email I once got. Be careful what you believe folks. Don't get me wrong, I am sure that natural sweeteners are better for you. I use it,…
  • so far, no energy issues. I do exercise a lot and haven't bonked yet on this diet. I am hoping that my fat metabolism machinery is working better than some since I do a lot of cycling over long distances and that is the key to keeping going... I will give some of your ideas a shot. Thank you. What seems weird is that they…
  • the foot should strike heel first and then roll onto the ball to provide the natural cushioning effect that our feet provide.
  • Anyone want to do a workout group focused on biking 300 miles in 30 days? I am thinking of starting on the 20th, or when we have 5 people that want to start, whichever comes first. 10 miles per day - about 30 minutes to one hour of your time. Or, do it in larger chunks. Post up your total miles each week. Only actual miles…
  • I use the wally world stuff. It mixes better than anything else I have used and I have used em all... Taste is like a 6 out of 10, I mix mine with cold coffee, and as strange as it sounds,it is decent.
  • I love broccoli with garlic sauce and it is pretty low calorie. You could eat a whole order of it for the calories of a couple of crab rangoons. just go easy on the rice.
  • yeah, in if done in moderation it turns out that many things from Mc D's and BK are close enough to the subway crap that it makes it almost not too bad.
  • Man, i love whoppers. Last night, i had some calories in the bank from a huge workout and I was craving something greasy and otherwise poisonous, so I drove over to BK and rocked a whopper w/cheese and a large fries. man was it good. Still under for the day too.
  • So I weighed in today and I was 251.5! That's half way to my goal of 220 from 281.5. It has only been 10 weeks. Man, I know the next 30 are going to be that much harder, but at least there is light at the end of the tunnel. i know when I get to 220, I will want to get down to 200, but hey, baby steps :)
  • I am hoping everyone can appreciate the humor in this!!! Yeah, I'll say it. I like cool whip, and I probably won't stop because I now know what all the ingrediants are. Fact is, pretty much all those ingredients are made from foods anyways.
  • check out bonktown.com for good deals on road gear. They had a set of clipless on there the other day almost 80% off. Did you get an aluminum synapse or carbon? Those are some sweet wheels! Congrats!
  • I just purchased my bike, a motobecane fantom pro for 999 from bikes direct. Many people bad mouthed it on another forum because it didn't have a trek, specialized, cannondale, etc. frame. I assure you, it rides very nice, and for that price I got components (ultegra shifters, carbon fork, fsa crankset, avid brakes etc)…
  • I weighed in at 7 and I was 269.5. just reweighed (official) and I am 264. I ran for 20 mins, stepper for 10. Sweatshirt and sweats. Thats it. I just drank a nalgene and a half...man was I thirsty! So yeah, you can lose a few in a couple of minutes, but it is not real weight. Plus I still get the motivation of having to…
  • Well, I am 3 pounds heavy as of right now (7 am). We are having a little competition where I work and we weigh in before lunch. I have some free time before the official weigh in, so do you all think I should get a quick run in before I hit the scale. I know I would only be losing water weight, but it would save me the…
  • WOW! My bike came today and I got it all put together and took it for a ride around the block. I rode it back to back with my mtn bike - AWESOME! Acceleration was incredibly snappy, the bike was very flickable, and anyone that tells you a road bike doesn't make covering distance easier than just about anything else is a…
  • wouldn't live without her (my wife, not yours, of course:laugh:
  • its funny, I hardly ever want to get stuff for myself, but I have expensive hobbies, so I buy one thing a year. She doesn't have the same spending practices. She will spend 200 a month, all year, on who knows what. I never say a word about her stuff, so she really doesn't get too tweaked about mine. It just seems like so…
  • lance is gonna wish he never came back...
  • Holy cow, I can hardly wait the week it will take for it to get here! I just ordered a road bike and I can't wait to start logging miles. I am especially looking forward to biking to work. I have wanted one for seriously like 10 years and I finally bought one. How cool is that! Well to be perfectly honest, it is a…
  • it has been my experience that most individuals with splints are not flat footed or overpronators, so i'll agree to disagree on the cause, but the exercise and treatments i recommended do work so you should give them a shot. Over-striding is a common causetoo, maybe shorten your forward reach on your stride?
  • oh yeah, and advil before your run by about 1 hour.
  • most of the time shin splints are caused by a weakness of the tibialis anterior muscle, or at the very least an imbalance between the muscles of plantar flexion (pointing the toes) and those of dorsiflexion (pulling the toes toward the knee). You can stretch the tibialis anterior muscle by hooking the toes under someting…
  • haha, thats been my nickname since I was about 3. Italian family and all. I probably won't be changing that anytime soon
  • well, in my quest for the new me, I have decided to do some other things to improve me, aside from just getting more fit. I have decided to not further gossip. I hate it when I hear something about someone, and without knowing if it is true, I just repeat it. also, if someone tells me an off color joke or something and I…
  • try it with some real high quality balsamic vinegar on it. It gets no better...

  • well, I managed another run, and it went even easier, now that I know it is doable. As a nice bonus, I am down 4 lbs since last monday! I am definitely staying hydrated so I knwo it is real weight and not just water.
  • I have been running daily since september, so I am really not sore. I was a little tired this AM. Thats all. The way I figure, If I start and feel crappy, I will just do 3. If I feel good I'll keep going. Worst case, i'll get a 5 mile walk in.
  • Well, I ran 5 miles strait through with no walking yesterday. Its a first for me, going that distance. I used to run 3 miles when I was younger like it wasn't even there, but never had a desire or a cause to run 5. I did it in under 1 hour. About 54 minutes to be exact. All in all, pretty good. I took today off though. got…
  • I hope those help! I know nothing digs me out of a funk like that 7 nation army riff! Funny how music make workouts just roll by. I did 5 miles tonight in less that an hour - longest run by far in that time, and the music let the miles melt away (almost)
  • china grove- doobie brothers, and I ran - flock of seagulls, hot-n-cold - katy perry. there's no way out of here - david gilmour, stronger -kanye west, nuthin but a g'thang - dre, white rabbit - jefferson airplane, hero of the day - metallica, running down a dream - tom petty, hurt you - the sounds, old enough - the…
