first, understand that the only unhealthy food is one eaten in excess. second, understand that willpower is a thing. use it. combine the two, and you get to enjoy a reasonable amount of whatever you want, lose weight, get healthier. it's a win-win-win. add a win if the food involved includes bacon.

yup. slow down. and get better shoes. and slow down. work on bettering your shorter runs. cut time off there. get stronger on short runs, it will benefit you when you increase the distance. and that should be done no more than 10 percent per week. otherwise, yeah, you're gonna have a major injury -- and then you won't be…

yeah, yeah ... (already registered, for the 8-10 wave group)

I'll see ya there! :)

yeah ... slowly creating cancer is awesome.

yup. the body uses it for fuel, so great to use right before a tough workout. the brain also functions on, primarily, various forms of sugar.

uh .... whut?

he was charged with obstruction after he became a witness against the other two guys. they cut him a deal.
-
yikes. I'm not standing up for either of them. merely pointing out the law. and the fact that the jury followed that law. so to malign those six people is wrong.
-
again, doesn't matter if zimmerman started the sequence of events. not according to the law. he was getting his head bashed into the concrete repeatedly. this allows him to defend himself with deadly force under florida law. hate the law all you want. that's valid. but the jury is required to follow that law.
-
like it or not, florida law says the use of deadly force is allowed if there is a reasonable belief of great bodily harm. nothing in the law says anything about whether or not a situation was brought about by the shooter's actions. florida law defines manslaughter as an intentional killing that is not justified or…

nope. if the state went for that initially, tailored its case to that charge, maybe. but they went for the home run and there wasn't the evidence to back that play. we don't convict in America when we don't have the evidence. at least, we shouldn't. even when we think the defendant deserves it.

this guy's been hanging around trouble for a long time. thoughts among my peers are that tebow was brought in specifically to try to keep him on the straight and narrow -- too late, obviously. he's also clearly not very bright.

now that's just crazy talk!

same here.

this.

It still wouldn't have been the prayer itself that did anything. It would have been, instead, the answer to that prayer. And my dad? An amputee. If it matters.
-
prayer doesn't, in and of itself, do anything. it isn't a magic bean. it's a conversation. not so different than a conversation between child and parent. kid asks for something. parent says yes, no, or later. struggling to see the confusion.

I think that cartoonist must be a member at my gym.

well, clearing up one worry, the men and women have separate hot tub/sauna/spa, etc.

no reason to give up anything. you can absolutely eat whatever you want. you, however, cannot likely eat how MUCH you want. it's all about finding a balance.
-
truth. diets are temporary fixes. that's why they don't work. change your habits to change your life. (and everyone CAN eat just a little. doesn't mean it's easy for everyone. but that's a battle you must fight, not one to which you must surrender.)

pretty sure ice cream is still allowed. if not, I'm doing this totally wrong.

also: caffeine acts as an appetite suppressant. this is good. the Brits produced a study that seemed to indicate that caffeine pre-workout allowed for a faster run. this is good. university of illinois study basically concluded that you can do more reps at a higher resistance and run further, faster with caffeine. this is…

I haven't given up anything. and there is no reason for me to.

because people want to feel like they are eating better. doesn't matter that they aren't. same reason for them ordering veggie burgers -- which are, many times, far more packed with scary sodium and far more processed than a straight-up burger. and there is no such thing as turkey bacon. really.
-
Once a week. I don't go nuts. And usually eat right around maintenance probably. But it is a good mental break.

You can, of course. But working out makes it easier. It also makes you healthier. It really is something you should just make time for. Have time to watch TV in the evening? You have time for 30 minutes of cardio and/or moving heavy things. When it gets right down to it, we make time for what's important to us.
