Awesome! How did you heal your shin splints? Mine seem to keep coming back. I got fitted for shoes at a running store and went to the doc to rule out bone problems. It feels like I am doing everything and still cant run :( I have been cleared to start running again, I am just afraid to now.

Hey there! I am so sorry to hear about your issues with your health. Imagine how your body would feel if you werent making the changes to a healthier lifestyle THEN found out about that cyst. I havent had any issues with anemia and would call up my doctor if I was having such troublesome symptoms. They may be able to do…

I second the suggestion of signing up for a 5k. Pick a race that is meaningful to you (or you really enjoy). And give yourself enough time to train for it! Some of them give finishers medals so you don't have to do anything but finish and you get a medal :D Then I would suggest finding an interval training plan (there are…

Being able to run. I was always so overweight that I couldn't enjoy it. Now I have finished 2 5Ks and am so hooked!

All my pictures are of me :) And I add friends all the time. Why not have more supportive people? And if they end up being creepy... well, I can always delete them. This is the internet after all ;)

I am still often caught off guard when I see myself in the mirror. My scale has been slowly creeping back up lately but I know it is because I have been lifting weights and the excess will eventually melt off. I always look at before and after photos to help myself feel better when I start to think I am getting stuck!

You look so happy and excited! You wont believe the amount of selfies you will start taking ;)

I am trying to stay focused! Thanks! Running makes me feel so alive. After I feel like I am going to die

   My new motto! I have been single for about 3 months now and it hasn't all been good. But it hasn't all been bad. I just take it one day at a time and make lots of goals and plans with my job, friends, and fitness!

I second planet fitness! I go there and there are all shapes and sizes of people working out. Some days I want to go high five everyone who is larger and working hard. But I know most wouldn't appreciate it. So I mentally cheer them on! I was there too. Large and wondering why the guy at the counter couldn't remember my…

GF is not always healthier. I have a friend who actually has celiacs and we have shared many not so healthy gluten free meals. I love gluten free pizza dough from donatos. Oh and lots of ice creams are GF. And the GF cookie doughs are pretty delicious too. It all comes down to choosing the right macros for your diet.…

It doesn't have enough of the texture for me to replace real peanut butter with it. But I love adding it to smoothies and the like to add that peanut butter flavor without the calories or fat :)

It took me YEARS to lose nearly 50lbs. You have done it in months! Keep up the fantastic work!
-
Thanks! I will be doing the rugged maniac on May 3!
-
I never could run before! I hated it since I was a kid because I was terrible at it. Now I am getting better and am so excited to see my body getting faster. I highly suggest starting with couch to 5k or something similar so you don't injure yourself!
-
Take lots of before photos! You will wish you had tons in 6 months! And I am terrified and excited all at once about this mud run. Have a friend come and take photos of you. We can do this!

Here is approximately a 50lb difference. I was 240 in the photo on the left. I have actually gained 10lbs since the photo on the right but don't have a good photo of that. I may retake the photo because I look better now than the photo on the right as all that gain has been muscle. There is a 3 year time gap in the photos…

You look awesome! Keep it up!

I do like that they don't hurt my teeth. But they aren't my favorite bars. I love the zone bars and luna protein bars. But they all don't have nearly as much protein and have extras that could make your stomach not so happy. It really boils down to trying a few different types and seeing which ones you like the best.

Awesome job! I couldn't complete insanity. Maybe I will try it again soon. You can really see the results in your back and shoulders!
-
I found after I dropped some extra weight I started to love running. Now I am addicted to races and can't wait to run my next one!

You guys are too funny! Just try not to be too hard on yourself. You will need time to rest, even dads have to sleep too! Just take it easy for a few weeks until you can get a schedule down and try not to be too hard on yourself!

I got a fitbit one because my skin is quite sensitive. I found the clip to be very easy to use and am glad I picked something that works for me. I work a construction type job and was afraid of the band getting in the way as well. So I got the one and clip it to my pocket. Counts all my steps and I havent washed it yet!

Looks like I will be on the lookout for those books. I can barely lift 20lbs and can't do a simple push up. So I have a long ways to go.
-
Just getting back on that bandwagon is a victory in itself. I too took off from July to December because of a job change. To help get motivated I just look at the older pictures and what I look like now. Keep it up!
-
I almost did the same thing! Glad I clicked. Such an amazing inspiration! If there weren't 6 inches of snow on the ground I would get out the door right now!
-
I was going to try that. I can only afford planet fitness right now but they do have some create your own training sessions for free. The only problem is they aren't always when I can get to the gym. Haven't people heard of working a first shift? I am lucky to get there by 5 and they are usually quite busy at that point.

Amazing work!
-
You look like the fitter younger brother not the same person at all!

We could be virtual couch to 5k buddies. I am finishing up week three now. Feel free to add me :)
