Self Sabatoge.... Yep, I understand. My husband has an addiction to nicotine, but not food. He's gained a little weight, too - but nothing like me. I married in 1997 at about 250, and gained to 351. In 2002, at 351 pounds, I had gastric bypass & lost down to 229. Then gained 60 pounds back. In December 2011, I started my…

Wow, projectxrebor, you just described my life. But throw in "did you do your Homeschool Work", and my broken record matches yours. He goes thru spells of "I really want to lose weight" and he tries, to where he just can't put forth that effort, and he sneak eats and binge eats. And he's good at hiding it.... You just want…

Absolutely! I created this board. My 12 year old, homeschooled 6th grader is struggling with eating for comfort. He bought a Paula Deen pound cake with grandma two nights ago, and he's doing a great job making it last. But his addiction to food, and inactivity, is painful to watch. I'm on my OWN journey, struggling. Trying…

That's what I told my husband & son. Let the people of God draw more near to God, and realize how much they need him. Pray more, Read the Word more, Fast More....

The part the struck me to read over and over was trying to look at life thru God's Victory Lenses. I have realized how stressed and NEGATIVE I have been these past few years. With pain & arthritis in my hips & back, bracymatarsia in my feet, all the extra weight I carry.... All I could do was walk around complaining about…

Wow, what a testimony of lives and our journey's. My name is Kristy & I live in Dayton Ohio. I've been overweight all my life. And I know it's all mental, that causes this physical downfall. I was 25 when I met my husband, and we got saved 9 months into our dating. We were then apart for 9 months, and then back together…

I sent the request. I typed what I hoped he would say. I work 4 am to Noon and go home and home-school my son. My husband, son & daughter are on different schedules. I hope this will encourage my son to participate more in being healthier. He's very active on Facebook. If you (and/or) your son are on Facebook, we could…

Hello! I'm the one who created this group. It's PAINFUL to see your kids go down the same path. I was "overweight" in kindergarten. The last thing I want is for my child to struggle the same issues - yet here we are! My son is logged in here, too. His name is Richard or Rick and his user ID is rick1122 I'm "running" his…

BUMP I'm almost afraid to watch it. A co-worker went the first weekend and shared about it, I literally had a nightmare that night about what we're (possibly) moving into after our election. But I did a search online and went to the official 2016 the movie site, and I can't find it for free. The sites that say watch it for…

Awesome Tips! I'd love to print and try some of those!

That is WONDERFUL !!! My son has been letting me know he's really cut back on his night-eating. I'm in bed for my early, early morning work-schedule. And I guess that's when he was eating most (which is the worst). But he has been proud of the cut-back. So, we'll see if it makes a difference in the scale!

I homeschool my son, so I don't PACK lunches. And my PICKY son wants JUNK. So, finding healthier options, and just low-cal options is hard. I've been buying the "baked" snack chips so they're portioned out. He's usually good about just eating ONE bag which is about 100 calories. It's not much, but it's not meant to fill…

Boy, I'd like to see some thoughts on this. ** BUMP **

I agree. It's more hectic. More difficult to FIND time to "get out" and exercise. More difficult to plan "healthier" meals. But I'm determined to let the "schedule" of the day HELP things be routine. I homeschool, so structure can be flexible - too flexible!

bump Same problem here. I take Ambien to fall asleep quickly, and it works great. But I don't stay asleep very long. Would love to continue reading the suggestions and tips!

AWESOME NEWS! My son has lots of "I really want to lose weight" moments, and has done better about evening eating (after I go to bed). So I'm happy for him. Some of his "jeans" don't fit anymore, so he's frustrated and knows he needs to care more about the issue. Yesterday, he and my husband shared a psychologist appt. He…

Excellent thoughts. My family has a GYM membership, but my son doesn't always go when he can. He says "he's tired". But I'm going to encourage him to go, more frequently. My husband shopped with me, and discouraged me from buying any crackers, chips or ice cream because he can't/doesn't portion control. So we just won't…

Thanks for sharing "braggsalot". My child is more sedentary. I found a website that recommended 1400 calories a day for sedentary. I'm guessing my son gets closer to 2000 calories a day, on average. It sounds like you're doing everything you know. Seeing doctors, healthy activity levels, blood work.... Anyone else have…

Love the input Tiggertails. Now - to be consistent! Those are excellent ideas!

My husband and I have a general agreement for online that we don't befriend people of the opposite sex... innocent "friendship's" can get too personal and an "affair" can sneak up on the best ... But I feel that certain people CAN handle it and not be "tempted". If the other person crosses the line, they delete or stop it.…

Thanks for sharing. It's nice to hear other people's lives are "busy" too! My 11 year old unloaded the dishwasher last night and did a great job cleaning up toys, dishes & other stuff in the house, before he & dad went to bed. He's not as consistent as I'd hope, but HE does help more and more! I know I feel guilty because…

We joined a local GYM in April 2011. We renewed our membership April 2012. My husband and I try to go 2X a week each. They don't have child care until 5 pm. And we can go around 2 or 3 pm when they're less busy. So our 11 year old USUALLY tags along once or twice a week. He's also "walked with me" to the library. And to…

Wow: How exciting to have nine members in the first day.... I've never opened a BOARD. But I couldn't find anywhere for support and to give & get ideas. I hope to see some posts, questions, encouragement and suggestions!
