  • Hi there. I agree with the others you do need medical advice. It could be one of a whole range of issues. Your diet can help though. Try not to leave very long periods between eating. Ideally something every 3-4 hours can help balance normal glucose levels (though it wont 'solve' any underlying problems). For instance if…
  • Thanks for the support and the kicks in the bumbum. Im hugely oversensitive, but find a bit of tough love gets the adrenaline moving again :-) There are emotional issues behind the comfort eating, which I need to address. But I dont want to put on all that lost weight again. (or all that cellulite!) So maybe I can allow…
  • Wow thats a great goal! Amazing what you have already done too

  • Thats interesting, thanks for posting... (comments & debate too) I think there is a simple question to ask yourself: Do the foods you love, love you back? If you eat it, and it makes you feel good, (now and later) then it does some good. There are lots of foods I love that dont really like me. Breads, chocolate, alchohol,…
  • Great achievement! Well done. You look sassy! And one of the greatest things to see in people is their lovely smiles, as they relax and become more confident! Great you are feeling more healthy too :-)
  • Aw poor you, sounds like a tough few days. It might help if you try and break down your courageous overall goal into sub-goals. Like trying to lose 10lbs in five-six weeks. And celebrate going down a dress size with a new dress or top. (Or something) Weight can fluctuate so much even in one day (3-5lbs for me). I was…
  • Id couple cheat days, with an active after-day. I d add 200-500 calories on a cheat day, followed by 1-2 hours extra exercise the next day. Healthier foods (even if coupled with yummy risky sauces) seem to boost metabolism. More processed foods, seem to slow down metabolism, and often are not as filling and satisfying as…
  • Beans! All kinds, in salads, soups and beany meals. Also trying more sea food, including chowder. Had a particularly creamy chowder last week, which couldnt have been too low on calories though :-)
  • Thats great! Wow, you ve lost half a person from your body.
  • 5 inches and 7+lbs in 3 weeks is fab! The best thing is that its relatively sustainable 1 to 2 lbs a week is healthy. Defo let your body settle into this for a few weeks. I think bodies get confused in first few weeks. They lose weight, then almost fight to retain what you have, and eventually submit, when you show you are…
  • Good luck and well done for starting off! If you really are as 'lazy' as I was when I started, then walking is really a great simple way to start your exercise regime. I had 'weak ankles' when I didnt do much walking, now they are much stronger. i started with half hour walks 3-5 times a week. Then tried to increase the…
  • Just to take another approach, Well Done! 63kg is probably a normal BMI weight, and you have lost alot of kilos already. (and if you have a child, like your pic suggests, thats even more amazing!) Re comfort eating. Someone advised that we all need our little comforts, but if you are watching calories try and find a low…

  • Interesting question. I think junk food is better at marketing. There are not many ads for healthy eating, are there? (thats why we 'think' junk food cheaper)
  • Thanks for replies so far and different approaches Yes maybe if I was a vegetarian it would help! Lunches with salads and homemade soups are a start. I worked out that, in order to eat 5 a day, me and my fella would need to be buying 70 portions of fruit and veg a week! If we do half that, Id be amazed.

  • Hi florange, Sorry for your loss and for others in a similar boat too. I too suffered a miscarriage, know the pain and sadness. My baby would be due around now. Though initially I comfort ate (comfort slept, comfort-anything) I ended up going in the other direction and trying to get stronger again. Felt so unfit, tired, a…
  • Its ok to love food :-)

  • Hi there, I was the same (maybe worse). Would give up after a week cos there was no result. But this time, with a bit of support, have got through the slow weeks, and as the other poster said, if you have an off meal, just make up for it with extra exercise. Also, its worth watching out for addictions. I think Im addicted…
  • Maybe more a lunch option, but here you go CHICKEN & CHICKPEA SALAD Left over Roasted chicken breast Green leaves including Rocket for flavour (Ie lettuce, spinach, mixed leaves etc) Nice vine tomatoes, chopped 100g of chickpeas Sugar snap peas or Green pepper Half red pepper optional Also a little dried chilli can make it…
  • Yes I know the feeling re getting bored. Agree with others about getting a cook book. My fav is a small book called BBC Low Fat Feasts. Favourite quick one is CHICKEN with COCONUT MILK 1 Chicken fillet, thinly sliced (or cooked chicken) Spring onions (or half a small onion) Red pepper (halfish) Sml handful of Sugar snap…
  • Have you tried the small fruits like rasberrys, blueberrys etc Rasberries are beginning to taste like sweeties now. (But they are dear) Grapes are another option. If you are snacking only for boredom reasons, you wont overdo the calories with these.
  • Thats great! Like that you are feeling 'stronger and sexier'. Thats what its all about :-)
  • Must get this book too:-) Metabolism issues can be the missing link for people who are doing everything else right. I have a mildly underactive thyroid, and got some advice about metabolism. Processed foods can slow down the metabolism. Too little exercise and too much exercise can too. (Body gets tired). Cutting bread or…
  • I thought this one was going to stir it up, but found it a fun version of supportive :-) I think some days I have 'control issues' where I think too much about the weight and exercise. It can get obsessive. But I think this may have more to do with a loss I have suffered in the last year. Losing weight and getting fitter…
  • Wow! Well done on your achievement to date. I went from 12 stone something to 10.5 and now own two new pairs of size 12 jeans! If I can do it, you, with your amazing loss already can do it too! Positive visualisation definitely helps
  • Well done on getting this far. Esp if your hands are as full as they seem! Have you tried making changes to your diet, week by week, maybe you are food intolerant to something? I found cutting carbs and replacing with smaller amount of protein seems to keep me full, while losing a bit. i.e cutting out bread, trying a salad…
  • Cereal is a 'killer' for me because 30g is too small a portion for me personally. I end up going for seconds and thirds. It also sets me up with a sweet tooth for the day, end up getting cravings for other sugary things. Have turned to porridge slowly. Didnt like at first but now its become a versatile friend, like others…

  • I m afraid my impressions of Los Angeles are based on TV movies books etc have never been there. Have nothing against the lovely Los Angeles people. But thank you for the correction and you are right to remind me that there are lovely folk living everywhere in the world. My impression of Los Angeles is that at British size…
  • Great to see the replies. Whatever negative thoughts you have about yourself I think you are all great! 1. Its an enormous achievement to seriously commit to losing weight, especially for health/strength reasons. 2. Its an enormous achievement to stay here, even when you are at a plateau stage. (More will power needed to…
  • I changed my diet before MFP but its helping me see advantages of staying with it. Biggest change is lunchtime. Rarely eat sandwich or any white bread anymore. Usually eat a tasty salad with chicken/fish/ beans/avocado, or soup. Definitely eat more veggies. I used to think I ate 5-a-day, but reality is I ate miniscule…
