  • What are some of the things you consider comfort foods? There are ways to make many things lower in fat and calories.
  • I don't believe you can unless they chose to share them on the database. For me, I don't add them because after adding the recipe in my personal food list, I would need to input the information a second time to allow it to be in the main database and I just don't have time to do it twice.
  • I have been vegan for two years and truly expected to lose weight with my diet change, as I was eating a healthy vegan diet, not overly heavy on the carbs and not relying on processed or prepackaged foods. But that never happened until I started to exercise. Since August when I started tracking my food and exercising, I've…
  • If you consider what you are doing a "diet" then it's a temporary condition and you feel you can go back to "eating normally" on the weekends to treat yourself. Diets, for the most part, do not work because when you reach your goal weight and go back to your normal eating patterns, the weight will come back. You need to…
  • Looks yummy! I'll have to try it!
  • I've been vegan for two years and have never felt better. One of my favorite websites is http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/ and http://ohsheglows.com/. When I first switched my diet, I totally avoided meat and cheese substitutes for months. I still don't like any of the cheese substitutes that I've tried and would just rather…
  • I love water and for most of my life that is mostly what I have chosen to drink. But my issue is not getting enough of it. I am just never thirsty. So while I love water, I have a hard time getting more than 5-6 glasses a day.
  • I agree with changing things up in the exercise department. I will walk, run, do Zumba (my fav), use the exercise bike, the elliptical machine, and will swim. Do you do any weight training? That may help also. Keep on. I've been at plateaus before (and am currently at one), but I just keep doing what I'm doing, watch my…
  • You do NEED time alone, especially when you homeschool. It took a long time for me to realize that. I started scrapbooking and would go scrapbook with my friend on a Friday or Saturday night every few weeks. It was a small start, but I realized I was a better mother and wife when I had some "me" time. I also am a proponent…
  • I use a literature based curriculum and it's definitely not "school at home" at our house. I guess I would consider us eclectic. This is my 19th year to homeschool and when I figured that up the other day, I was in shock! My two youngest are 15 and 17.
  • I don't schedule our days, but my girls are now 15 and 17. On Monday, I give them a list of their work for the week. I work until noon from home and after lunch will ask them to go over work they have done. If their work for the week is not done for Friday, they cannot have friends over or go anywhere. Two weeks in a row…
  • I agree with the extra chores. Cleaning her room AND a sibling's room. One of my punishment chores is for the offending child to wipe the baseboards in all the rooms of the house with a wet cloth. And I go through and check them all. Another punishment - cleaning all the bathrooms in the house. Here we have five! :noway:…
  • I'm a homeschooling mom. We started homeschooling 19 years ago.
  • I add flax seeds and spinach. My favorite is a "Green Pina Colada." 1 cup coconut milk 2 tbsp shredded coconut (because I used the Silk coconut milk, not the coconut milk out of a can and it didn't taste coconutty enough) 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks 1 banana, cut into chunks and frozen 1 tbsp flax seed 3 packed cups raw…
  • Fresh fruit. Natural, no-added-sugar applesauce. Just a tiny drizzle of syrup (I have never been a syrup fan - too sweet).
  • I always considered exercise to be a dirty word. Then I started going to Zumba classes. Oh my! Love my Zumba! I now go five days a week to Zumba classes, sweat my tail off every time, and have a hard time wiping the grin off my face because it is so much fun! Try different types of exercise to see what is the best fit for…
  • I didn't gain or lose a pound. :grumble: A loss would have been most excellent, but it didn't happen. The losses started when I got up off the sofa and MOVED!
  • I'm vegan and I love to cook! I eat a whole foods, plant based diet rather than relying on prepackaged things. I have always adopted a "whole foods" approach to nutrition many years before going vegan. Feel free to send a friend request.
  • I've been vegan since 1/1/2010. I sent a friend request. I went vegan from an omni diet and I haven't had any cravings and feel wonderful. My terrible stomach issues have disappeared (this former dairy loving girl is evidently lactose intolerant). I also eat little soy and as a general rule have always had a "whole foods"…
  • I believe I have just identified in the last week a food allergy. My daughter wanted kumquats and picked up a bag. I have tasted them years ago, but not really eaten them except for that occasional taste. I ate six and my lips were itching and burning. I waited two days and tried two more and it was starting again. Very…
  • Shucks. I actually had the same thing when I read "Rocco." :^)
  • I love to dip my apples in this! I must measure it out, though, and put it on a plate so I don't go overboard. It's delish! I also love Justin's Nut Butters. Their Maple Almond is delicious, as is their Chocolate Hazelnut. The downside - they are EXPENSIVE! A definite splurge! But the chocolate hazelnut is vegan whereas…
  • I think if you ease into it, your experience will be different from someone who jumps in feet first. :^) That'd be me. I went from omnivore to vegan and the biggest difference wasn't in a clear head or more energy, but a happy tummy. My myriad stomach issues disappeared. I think that living without the stomach pain gave me…
  • Old fashioned oats cooked in milk (I like almond milk) with berries. Or fresh apples or peaches. Or about 1/3 cup canned pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice. Smoothies! Super quick and easy. I love making them with spinach (no you honestly do NOT taste it), banana, frozen mango chunks, a tbsp of flax seed, and almond or soy milk.
  • That sounds delicious!!!
  • I ADORE Zumba! I go to five classes a week, taught by three different teachers and all the teachers are different, so I get more cardio in one class, ab and leg work in another, etc. Regarding calories, I went to a website that figured Zumba calories using your height/weight. It is just an average and I use that. HRM -…

  • Beans or chickpeas are great in salads. Cubed baked tofu. Nuts and seeds.
  • I prefer almond milk, but will put soy milk in my smoothies because it has more protein.
  • I don't eat meat at all (vegan here) and get plenty of protein. Beans, lentils, quinoa, tofu, nut butters all have protein.
  • I log everything but gum because I may chew one stick a week, so I know it's not going to break the bank. :^) And there is no such thing as a negative calorie unless you are talking about the ones you burn.
