  • Soy latte made at home usually with just one teaspoon of sugar. If at Starbucks, it's generally a Venti soy latte with 4 pumps of toffee nut syrup. I'm thinking about backing to 3 pumps. I don't do SB that often.
  • I take VegLife Vegan One Multiples. I use the iron-free formulation.
  • 0: Are you are strict vegan, ethical vegan, or strict vegetarian, or other? Moderate vegan. I adhere to a strict vegan diet and try to buy cruelty-free or vegan products, but have not tossed out all my non-vegan stuff in my house and replaced it. 1. How has your health changed since your transition into veganism? Has it…
  • Feel free to add me. Vegan 3 1/2 years.
  • Personally, I do not eat them. Milk doesn't have it's own central nervous system, nor do eggs and I don't eat those. It is in the kingdom Animalia and I personally think if you are vegan, then your diet excludes anything that falls therein.
  • You are very rude. No, I know completely how calories work. A calorie is a unit for measuring energy. I know a calorie is not metabolized. I completely understand that a woman has a smaller caloric need than does a larger man. My son, who is now 25, has had problems gaining weight since he was 3. He has been to doctors and…
  • I have read all the negatives on the forums here, but decided to try it for myself and my husband. I have been stuck at a plateau for a while even with exercise and adding in weight training. I am one who rarely does a "diet" and I generally prefer lifestyle changes. But I was just so tired of being in the same spot. It's…
  • Whole grain oatmeal (steel-cut or old fashioned) and fruit. But today I had my first ever tofu scramble with lots of veggies. It was delish!
  • For each 10# lost, I needed to buy smaller pants. I'm very short and 10# one way or the other makes a huge difference in how my clothes fit. (I also gain/lose in my hips and thighs.)
  • I went vegan 3 1/2 years ago to lower my cholesterol and lose weight. My surprising bonus was that my stomach no longer hurt. I thought belly pain meant your food was digesting. I lived my whole live with chronic stomach pain and never knew it wasn't normal. Now I am pain-free and happily vegan. Congratulations on your…
  • I have spent my whole life swimming against the tide, from a natural, unmedicated childbirth with my children (and home no less), nursing past six weeks, homeschooling, eating first a whole foods and now a vegan diet. I am very familiar with how people react when what you do is the complete opposite of their choices. I try…
  • Congratulations on your decision! Big step! Personally, I love Tom's of Maine toothpaste. I can't do the traditional super foamy toothpastes - the foam gags me. Literally. Super sensitive gag reflex. If you have a smart phone, there are several great cruelty free apps that are free. I've used them to find vegan products.

  • I do know that I have gone on diets with my husband, worked out more, and he lost more weight. A calorie may not be able to distinguish between male and female, but a female body metabolizes calories differently than a man's body. Period. I found this thread because I am thinking of buying the book. I've been doing MFP for…
  • The only fake meat products I eat would be the occasional Field Roast sausage, cut up and in a dish. Otherwise, I get my protein from grains/beans/veggies.
  • Is this your personal experience?
  • Hmm...I think it depends, but mine didn't get smaller when I lost 30#. Actually, I went down in the chest measurement (from a 36 to a 34) and up in cup size from a C to a D. My breasts actually didn't get any bigger, but it sure sounds better to say 34D as opposed to 36C.
  • The pomegranate/blueberry/coconut sounds scrumptious! I'll have to try that!
  • Regarding flax seed, you do want to keep it in the fridge so it will not go rancid. Only grind what you can use in a few days, keeping it also in the fridge. Start with perhaps a teaspoon a day as it adds a lot of fiber. You want to grind it because the tiny seeds will pass through the digestive tract completely intact…
  • Hummus and veggies!!!
  • Thanks for the friend request. I don't know what you have done in the past, but my advice would be to change it up. Different exercise classes, definitely adding in strength training if you haven't done so already. I met with a personal trainer recently at our new gym and he showed me on paper how long it would take to…
  • There is a small nutritional difference, but the main difference is because the instant oats are precooked and dried again, they cook faster. But your body doesn't have to work as hard to break it down, giving it more of a glycemic load than old fashioned or steel cut. Not hugely significant, but still a difference. For…
  • I'm vegan and love cooking! I have a little food blog www.vegancajun.blogspot.com. Feel free to friend me if you wish.
  • Hummus and veggies! Yum! Carrots, cucumbers, slice bell pepper, sugar snap peas would be my favorite dippers.
  • I have a tea drawer, too! Actually, my tea collection has spilled over to a second drawer. My children tell me I need a 12-step program for my tea addiction! I also have a collection of teapots and infusers.
  • Haha! "Chai tea" is a pet peeve of mine for that very reason! I think people mistakenly believe that "chai" refers to the spices, when that would be "masala." http://www.adagio.com/chai/masala_chai.html
  • I'm an evening cereal muncher. Does that count?
  • I think it just depends on the texture you want. I wouldn't like the recipe you made either, but simply because it called for too much water. I like my oatmeal to be chewy rather than mushy. I buy old fashioned rolled oats and my recipe is as follows: 1/2 cup sweetened vanilla almond milk 1 cup frozen mixed berries…
  • There are so many different flavored teas out there! Some of my favorites are The Republic of Tea's Blackberry Sage black tea. Same brand has some other yummy ones I like - a chocolate ginger and a chai blend. I like Tazo teas also, Wild Sweet Orange is a good "herbal tea" (or tisane). I just bought their new holiday…
