I dislike artificial sweeteners because I don't like the aftertaste, but I also don't like putting all the chemicals into my body. I prefer natural, whole foods. I have used stevia, but will only use it in tea - in tea it doesn't bother me, but I don't like the taste of it in coffee.

I agree with this^^^

I said that, too. But I don't think reading most people consider reading to be as much fun as ranting. :ohwell:

Yum!

Sounds yummy! And it's chock full of veggies! I'll have to try this recipe. Thanks!

I'm vegan. You can send me a friend request. I'm from Louisiana. Land of anti-vegans. :^/

My best friend was diagnosed a few years ago with a non-celiac gluten intolerance. She has had fibromyalgia for years. When she is on a gluten free diet, her fibro symptoms are nonexistent. Her daughter has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia and also feels better on a gluten free diet. I would definitely…

Completely plant based eating here. :^) I've been vegan for two years and my stomach problems have disappeared.

I'm 46 and vegan. Feel free to friend me if you would like. :^)

The health care industry can only do so much when they recommend lifestyle changes and people refuse to make the changes that are recommended.

Once again, you are not reading. I didn't say Paula Deen anything. I said what she represents.... I work in the medical industry. People come in all the time who are diagnosed with heart disease or diabetes. They do not want to change their behavior - they want a quick fix. Same with every aspect of life. We want a quick…

Okay, I've read the first four pages of this thread (no more because it's just killing me) and what I do not understand is that no one seems to have actually READ the thread title. It says she REPRESENTS what is wrong in America, not that she, herself, is to blame. Not being the OP, I cannot speak for his/her exact…

We own one Quarter Horse, down from three. She is my older daughter's horse. My horse died a few years ago and we were all devastated. My youngest daughter sold her horse back to the original owner.

Honeycrisp is my absolute favorite! I also like Pink Ladies and Jonagolds as well.

Greek/Lebanese! Fattoush salad. Hummus. Baba ganoush. Mujaddara (lentils and rice with caramelized onions). Falafel. Baklava (made with agave nectar instead of honey) for dessert. Or Mexican - guacamole, veggie fajitas, black bean soup, Mexican hot chocolate cookies for dessert.

Oatmeal made with old fashioned oats, cooked quickly so it's not mushy, with fresh or frozen fruit of your choice would be a good thing. I had a chronic problem secondary to a prescription medication that had the lovely side effect of paralyzing my GI tract's peristalsis. Oatmeal every day did the trick.

I usually get veggie fajitas. You don't have to eat the tortilla.

Meat. Okra. The one vegetable I cannot stomach - it is slimy on the inside and hairy on the outside. That's just wrong!

All of my smoothies are non-dairy. I use almond or soy milk. I usually will put one cup non-dairy milk and a cup of fruit, part or all being frozen. I also add 1 tbsp of flax seed and usually put in 1-2 tbsp of blackstrap molasses for iron and calcium. (I'm vegan.) Last week, I made green smoothies and they were delicious!…

Sorry. Double post.

I have done it for a short period of time (3 weeks) in the past. The problems I have had were getting tired of chewing. Honestly! And it is also difficult for me to do during the winter months - I just want something hot to warm my insides. Doing it in the summer was much easier.

It will grow back. It is most likely caused from an injury you didn't even realize happened. I have one toe that will get a blister beneath the toenail when I've been running. Generally the nail will eventually fall off, but it always grows back. The new nail always looks perfectly normal.

I don't "cheat." I eat what I eat. If I feel like having a cookie, I will have one - if it's vegan. I will occasionally have one square from a good quality dark chocolate bar and that satisfies me, but I don't consider it cheating. Most nights I will have a little something after supper - perhaps an apple and some…

Diverticulosis is a condition where your intestinal tract has little out-pouchings (one is called a called diverticulum) and these little pouches can become inflamed. Some do say nuts and seeds can cause inflammation of the diverticula, although research does not back this theory up. But my MIL has diverticulosis and every…

I'm a work-at-home medical transcriptionist, a homeschooling mom. I also teach scrapbook and card-making classes. That's my FUN job! ;^)

I've read the entire trilogy before Christmas. I think I read all three books in a week - could not put them down. It reminded me of the themes in George Orwell's "1984" and in the Book of Revelation in the Bible in the way they portrayed life in that future time period. I am both eager and afraid to see the movie when it…

Wonderful news! Glad you are feeling so good on your new way of eating! Welcome to the vegan team! :^)

I love lentils and cook with them often. There are three basic types - red, brown, and French or puy lentils. The brown and the French CAN be interchanged, but never exchange brown/French and red. The red lentils are the softest and are usually used in soups or other dishes that doesn't require them to maintain their…

Are there any other things that could be triggering the fussiness? Something you are eating that she may be reacting to? More exercise? Less fluid intake? Has she started on solid foods and perhaps it is something in her diet?

I add blackstrap molasses to my morning smoothie. It is very high in calcium and iron.
