You're delusional. Nobody is packing on a ton of muscle if they claim to be on a deficit and think 2500 is a massive amount of food. Initial swelling can and does put a lot of women off of lifting, but if they persevered and understood what it was, we wouldn't see half as many "lifting makes you bulky" type posts.

Resistance training is advised because it helps to preserve your muscle, increasing the ratio of fat:muscle loss, whereas without you would lose proportionally more muscle in a deficit. So, it's not really the case that it burns fat more effectively than cardio - that is a function of calorie deficit - but more that more…

But that's nonsense. If your weight immediately shoots up after eating ANYTHING it's usually as a result of increased water weight or the food item literally still being in your body. You can have your treats in moderation, provided you understand that a temporary increase in weight does NOT equal weight gain. Example; I…

You've lost weight while admittedly struggling to get your diet in order. That's not failing, that's dialing it all in.

My reasoning is that he's young as well, and probably still growing.

Dump 50 out of carbs and into protein IMO.

It's through complacency regarding nutrition that the Western world has it's obesity problem.

Just as an aside, what would you recommend to someone who has never eaten sushi before? Not a fan of shrimps or prawns, never tried crab, have no problem with smoked salmon and other cooked fish. The field is yours.
-
True, and although I'm willing to bet they would never reach 500 cal excess, I'll ammend my post.

When you crash diet, you will lose your muscle and other tissue as well as fat. Fat can only be metabolised so quickly, and any deficit beyond what your body can cover with burning fat, will burn muscle etc. Stop yo-yoing from one extreme to the other. Find your maintenace. Eat 200* calories a day more than that, combined…

I don't disagree at all. My own experience means I can better understand his side than the wife's, though.

3 times in a month is pretty damn frigid. In a way I sympathise with him, but this is not the way to deal with his frustrations. Her decision to air their dirty laundry is also a bit foolish. Nobody wins here, except his or her sidepiece.

1. A zero calorie drink has zero calories, and thus cannot contribute to weight gain. The fear of salty/sugary foods is unfounded; salt is an important micronutrient and sugar is beneficial in the right circumstances. Both are wrongly attributed with weight gain because of water retention. 2. When you eat doesn't matter…

Fluid retention was a possibility that cropped up reading that, but I'm no expert

29 because I'm in denial about the rapidly approaching 30s

For the most part, yes. Hitting a new PR is awesome. Continual incremental progress toward that PR was/is also awesome.

Are they overweight? Also, could you run outside or go to a gym?

I will inform my people of this exchange. Avoid dark alleys and hooded figures, Mr. John.

That's why I thought of it, since low Creatine vs. Optimal is noticable very immediately. Ah well, thanks Sara.

"so you're implying that one has to be tattooed to have "lived" during their youth?" Not the same thing.

People who complain about grunting or noisy deadlifts

Didn't her mother teach her to share? Which, by the way, is what you should do.
-
Eh, more that they didn't state that you had a lousy childhood if you're tat-free.

Legit question for vegans; are there any plant sources for Creatine?

Quite a stretch for you to have read anything like that into it.

How you come to the conclusion that ink makes something less or more feminine is beyond me. Anyway, I like them, but I don't know that I'll ever have any.

I think a large part of that is that the huge initial drop a lot of people see when they switch to low carb gives them unrealistically high expectations for the coming months. We see a lot of people here saying they've stalled when they've lost like 7 lbs in a month.
