You are probably right about pushing a little too much. As far as trail running, I have always run as long as I can remember (started in about Jr. High age) for fitness. I have never been a competitive runner, just have done it for fitness. I have always enjoyed hiking as well, and it was in my teens that I started…

I do both. I am not terribly systematic about the foam roller. I honestly don't know what is recommened but I'm sure you can find a youtube or something on the internet with recommendations. If you learn anything let me know. Last night after a run my left hip was really tight. My ankle was hurting so I was compensating…

I keep forgetting to send my miles and I am behind. I have ran 21 miles since my last post.

I have tight hips and Achilles. Two suggestions. Try a foam roller and check out http://www.mobilitywod.com/. The foam roller seams to looses muscles which eases tension on tendons. For my hips and ankles, I seemed stuck for a long time stretching but no progress. I finally realized I was not doing the right stretches.…

I forgot to check in last Sunday the 15th. I had 11 miles last week and 7 so far this week.

I like this "The correct number of Bikes is best expressed in a formula c = N+1 where c = correct no. of bikes and N = current no. of bikes. welcome to the madness" Let's see, between my husband and I we have...hmmmm... I have 4 bikes - a road bike, cross-country mountain, all-mountain bike, and town bike/kid carrier bike…

I'm a sugar addict too. Things that seem to help me (cookies and ice cream are my big ones): 1. never have a bag of cookies, carton of ice cream, etc. at home or work. 2. If I have a serious craving, I allow some indulgence occasionally with buying a single cookie or ice cream bar, but I only do this if I have exercised…

Great to hear about everyone's kids! They are so much fun, aren't they!

12 miles total for me this week. Looks like I'm (hopefully) finally in the clear from my ankle injury. Finally able to increase my miles.

I haven't tried MTB tires on a hybrid, but it may be worth it to find a used basic, but well-built mountain bike if you like the dirt and rocks (you can find some fairly inexpensive rigid or hard-tail used bikes if you search for it). I mountain and road bike and I love each for different reasons. I like the thrill and…

Sounds tasty... thanks for sharing. Do you know the nutrition info on this recipe? If not, I will calculate it.

My schedule looks similar to yours... i wake up at 5:15, get lunches together, get myself and my 2 1/2 year old daughter ready for the day, and am out the door by 6:45. I have a 40 minute commute. my job is very busy and i usually barely have time for lunch. I leave by about 4:30, pick my daughter up, head home, make…

You can add me. I just started with MFP but started losing weight with weight watchers in July and am down 20 pounds, 20 more to go. My story is different than yours but I relate. I have a 2 1/2 year old. I didnt gain during pregnancy but gained a lot afterwards. I had postpartum depression and anxiety was made worse by a…

For me it depends on the intensity and duration. For high intensity workouts of an hour or greater i definitely eat back some to most my calories. For example, I went for a mountain bike ride today for 1 hr 15 min. My HR monitor tracked me at working off 710 calories. I ate about 500 of those. My reading and research on…

I should have mentioned my name... I am Lisa

I would like to introduce myself. I am brand new to MFD but have been on path to weight loss since August. I have lost 20 pounds so far and am now using MFD to help me get another 20 to 25 off. I am a long time cyclist... Mostly mountain but also road. I live in Arizona where I can ride outside most of the year. I serve on…

I would like to join. Unfortunately I am recovering from an injury so I may not make the 50 miles. I would like to start with 30 and hopefully by next month I can add more. I did 2.5 miles today.
