  • I think everyone has said eat more, which I totally agree with! In terms of the plateau, your body adjusts to whatever lifestyle you have, including exercise! It adjusts to feel comfortable and that may be your problem. I am struggling with a plateau too right now, but I think if you up the intensity of working out it may…
  • 5'6" :) The end of my first semester of college I was 195 lbs... I am now 157 lbs 2 years later!!
  • Ummmm, who is ever nice to obese people? Fat shaming already exists and is rampant across our country! Maybe if people were genuinely nice (instead of just saying they are) and encouraging rather than harassing an individual something would get done.
  • GO TO THE GYM! BUNDLE UP! It was -1 when I got in my car this morning at 5:30 AM to get over to the gym (I live in Iowa) but I dress in layers, so that way even when I leave sweaty the cold air can't get to me! I really wouldn't suggest skipping the gym, because the habit of skipping is usually easier to maintain than the…
  • This is great! (It would be great to see a before picture... just to compare her progress!) But why are people bashing on her...???! Just because you don't wanna look like that doesn't give you the right to dis her. I'm surprised more people haven't commended her, because even if you don't like "muscley women" it takes…
  • I try to stay away from heavily processed foods (pre-packaged snack cakes, soda, fast foods, etc.) I need to cut out more sugar, but its a struggle. Other than that, I eat almost everything (bread, cheese, meat, and lots of veggies) because I believe that balance is key. Also, I've learned that if I tell myself "You can't…
  • I would try to stay away from laxatives, because they're unnatural to your body and can cause severe water loss. (Also, your body grows accustomed to it and it will take more and more each time to get the same effect) I use Triple Strength Fish Oil. I take it anyway as a supplement, and I can see a difference in my…
  • I watched a documentary about juicing called "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" it was an extreme diet, but the man needed to loose some extreme weight. I wouldn't necessarily recommend his regiment, but the documentary has a lot of useful information!!! I would watch it, if you're interested in juicing :) It definitely peaked my…
  • All I want to be able to do is run outside in shorts and a sports bra, and look good doing it! I've kind of given up on the scale, because I am in training for taekwondo, I am putting on a ton of muscle. Paying too much attention to the scale would be really discouraging for me, so I go for non-scale goals :)
  • Sounds great~! Kyra - 168 lbs
  • I weigh myself even more during periods, but i don't record it on MFP. I just like to keep track of whats actually water weight from bloating and what is fat/muscle. For me, I know it helps to realize that the extra weight is NOT because of any binging, but from a normal occurance for all women. However, for some women it…
  • Its recommended that you only loose 1 lb a week, that way it will stay off. Losing 2.5 lbs a week is a lot for your body to handle, and the drastic of a change may lead to gaining everything (plus some!) back later. It might be too much stress on your body and thats why you're not losing. Also, 100 minutes of cardio seems…
  • the biggest thing is getting your cardio endurance up, so any type of low-impact cardio (like swimming!) will prepare you for when you can start training without building up injuries. Also, just working on a punching bag is great to start off with too! Congratulations and keep up the amazing work!
  • Thanks guys! I think I am going to try doing one week with a "treat day" and one week with a "fast day" then repeat for a while and see if my body likes or rejects it. I think on fast days i'll do juice fasts (from whole veggies and fruits in a food processor or juicer) that way i don't loose out on vitamins and key…
  • Thank you!! I just like to hear other people's experiences with it, because what works for some may not work for others :)
  • i wear cotton undies, because i get into trouble with the sweat build up in nike shorts. the cotton absorbs the sweat so it doesn't cause any skin problems :)
  • I earned a 2nd degree black belt in american karate (with korean roots...) but now I practice Taekwondo and I'm a green belt. :)
  • one of my friends from High School goes to Knox :) she loves it there!
  • I'm in my 2nd year as an undergrad at the University of Iowa :):)
  • Normally, I just enter in the Taekwondo for 50-80 minutes depending on how long class went or how often we stood around (it usually averages between 650 cal and 900 cal) I also listen to my body, I know if a class was really difficult and I burned a lot, or if it was a lot of technique and I didn't get my heart rate up as…
  • What do you train in? Taekwondo When did you start? I did Korean Karate as a kid for 8 years, but I had to stop after I got injured. I just picked up Taekwondo again a year ago at school :) Who inspires you? My boyfriend has been a wonderful support for me, and my coach is great! But I'm doing this for myself, and no one…
