Weight loss is a long, hard journey and it's not one that comes with a perfect formula that works for everyone. And what works for us today might not work for us 3 months from now etc. Looking for another form of support doesn't mean you are saying that it's any better than MFP just that it may be what helps you better at…

My plan is to get to my goal weight this year and to do so in a healthy way. A few things I got for Christmas to help me with my weight loss goals are a light and healthy cook book, I'm looking forward to trying some of those recipes. I also got a Bosu ball with a workout DVD and Santa brought a stationary bike for my…

I'm up for the challenge!!!

It's so crazy when you look at it that way. Really puts it into perspective. WELL DONE!!!! 40 lbs is a big milestone!

I also lost over 100 lbs. and used to have a really hard time doing any exercise at all. Now I do Aerobic and Step Classes as well as strength training classes. I never would have dreamt I would be doing that. I just started out with walking. Just stayed consistent with going for short walks every night after dinner. Then…

I love them too. Now I find regular oatmeal to be mushy. I cook my steel cut outs in the evening a double batch with apples and cinnamon then just reheat it in the microwave in the morning. Quick and easy. Soooooooo YUMMY!

It's interesting to see what people are doing. I love my Step classes at the gym, they are my favorite. Maybe a good challenge would be to add something to new to what you are doing now. Either trying something new or adding more reps or higher intensity or something like that - just an idea :)

This is a good challenge for me, I haven't been doing so well with the water lately so this will be a good reminder for me to drink up! Thanks!!!

I am interested too! A fresh new challenge for September sounds good to me.

Well I guess I'm shallow too then because I don't want an overweight instructor teaching my workout classes just like I don't want to take health advice from an overweight nurse or doctor. Sorry but it's pretty hard to feel confident in their abilities when they don't appear fit themselves. I'm not saying either that they…

I've enjoyed reading this. I just went on my first cruise last summer (to Alaska). I loved it and I'm hooked. Lots of great advice here. Have fun!!!!

Trying to find fun ways to stay active while on vacation helps me a lot. We usually do a lot of walking, exploring new places etc. I agree that keeping busy helps too. Just the fact that you are aware of it will also help. Going into vacation with the 'it's vacation time and I can make up for it when we get back home"…

Why do we always get shafted?

Prince George here. It certainly hasn't been a very nice winter for getting outside. Today however it was above freezing and hubby and I actually managed an hour long walk in the fresh snow and it was glorious! Can't wait for Spring!!!!

As a part of the group Losing it ONCE AND FOR ALL I can tell you that we have a great group of women that enjoy sharing their stories and their struggles and successes. We are here for each other whether it's to cheer each other on when we are trying to reach a goal or applaud us when we've done a great job or help to pick…

Renee I found too that I did well when I was active within a group and then when I wasn't the weight started coming back on. It goes on so much faster than it comes off. It feels good though being back on track again.

I think the key is losing weight in a healthy way that we can live with so that we can maintain it and be happy and enjoy the new life that we've given ourselves. I don't want to lose the weight and then be miserable tying to maintain it. I want to lose it and enjoy it and enjoy life being active and healthy. That's my…

I too have lost weight and gained some back and I am interested in having 'buddies' in the same boat. I was overweight all of my life. Then decided it was time to get serious and get the weight off. i worked really hard doing that through exercise and healthy food choices. It took me just over a year to lose 100 lbs and…

I would treat him like a kid and start finding sneaky ways to get healthy food into him I've done this with my husband who isn't a terrible eater but if he thinks it's really healthy he'll sometimes turn his nose up at it just because. He doesn\'t do that so much anymore. I never buy ground beef anymore, only ground…

I was 265 lbs at my heaviest and my very first step to losing weight was buying a brand new scale too and facing the hard reality of just how much I weighed. Now I'm 189 lbs and still have a ways to go (after putting some weight back on) but what matters is to be back at it, not giving up but continuing to push through.…

I too have arthritis all over. The worst is in my knees and hands. Like others have said, keeping active helps so much. Do whatever you can. I started out just with walking and that helped. Then once I lost weight I felt better and was able to do more and more. There are still some days that are worse than others and I…

Give it more time. It's a great workout and building muscle does help you lose weight. Of course your calorie intake plays a big role too.
