  • I don't hate to exercise...just don't like formal exercise. So...I just don't friggin' eat it! Seriously I maintain a plant based whole foods diet (not! vegan or vegetarian, just the right portions of animal products). These veg, grains, legumes are all Bulky, low cal/fat/sugar foods so you can Eat! I eat tons of food, all…

  • I set my activity level low, so I know if I'm too lazy to work it off, I can only eat so many calories. I'd rather just not eat it than run it out on a treadmill.
  • Healthy food is #1 in my budget. Fuel for life. What could be more important? Ours is 100/month for the 5 month season. Reasonable to me, ya?
  • I would search locally- finding the farmer's market would be a good first step and ask around there for the local CSA, I hope you can find one!
  • I've been married for nearly 11 years...though not legally until California passed prop 8 in 2008- so 4 years of state-blessed bliss.
  • You can add me if you like! I don't have many pals here yet. Change one little thing at a time and let time pass.....I'm narrowing down on having lost 50 lbs and it took a year! I cut sweets first and didn't notice much difference. The Huge change came for me when I cut the fat from my diet- and I mean nearly everything-…
  • Aerobics, general
  • I've been on meds for bipolar for about 5 years. I hate pharmaceutical drugs and don't believe in them, but they Work! for me anyway. It has taken years to refine the dose and iron out all the side effects but I feel dandy now. I am one to definitely use food, exercise and herbs for health. But I want to give support too-…
  • I'd skip the sauce/gravy type dishes- a lot of sugar, coconut (fat). A satay with the peanut sauce on the side would be a good choice. The soups with the clear broth are good, too. Pra Ram is a good one: usually a piece of grilled chicken on a bed of broccoli or spinach and a peanut sauce- get it on the side. Good luck!
  • So true. I think it took me 6 months to lose the first 10 pounds! Then I realized it was working and lost another 30 in that next 6 months. I have lost 43 pounds and it took 15 months! (so far, another 7 lbs to go!)
  • Its sad. One that bothers me is people that are trying to lose weight that may be doing some things right, but go out drinking- consuming massive amounts of calories/sugar. And believe me, No one wants to hear that message. I'm thinking about becoming a personal trainer and dietitian so people will Want to listen to me LOL.
  • Uhhhhh seriously? Yes. Humans need water to stay alive. Refer back to kindergarten.
  • Hahhaaa we call it 'hoovering' (think vacuum-face) Last month it was garlic bread! A ridiculous amount of garlic bread! I usually give in for no more than 2 days and minimize the damage by keeping reasonable stuff around: chocolate rice dream, cereal, oranges, alvarado st. bakery complete protein bread with cinnamon/sugar…
  • That's Friggin' Awesome. Good job!
  • I like Gaiam yoga and pilates videos. The beginner ones always have the proper modifications. It is important that you attend a proper class to make sure you are using and learning proper form so you don't hurt yourself. Check out pilates too! It tones and shapes your body relatively quickly and helps eliminate the left…
  • I started eating kashi go lean cereals that have generally 10 grams of protein and I was surprised when I wasn't hungry 20 minutes after breakfast! I also eat alvarez bakery complete protein bread for breakfast toast or snack and that helps a lot too.
  • It excites me that you are a chef. Learning to cook healthy food will make you a success!
  • It must have taken me 6 months to lose my first 10 pounds. It was very frustrating. But the moment I saw I was making a little progress I was so encouraged to keep going. The second 6 months I lost 30 pounds. I've almost reached my goal of 50 pounds lost now after 15 months. Keep it up. Very good tips from the pals here :)
  • This sounds to me like gall bladder possibly. I had mine removed after becoming very ill. I had waves of pain in my lower right abdomen that would knock me out of breath. The doctor at the ER told me nothing was wrong and prescribed pain medication. When I went back after 5 days my gall bladder had literally turned black…
  • I'm 5'10 and my goal weight is 154. I weighed 147 before I had my baby and it seemed a little too skinny. At 154 at my height my BMI would be just below the halfway point of a healthy BMI. Why 154 exactly? It would mark -50lbs! I'm 167 the last time I checked so a little more to go!
  • Hell no. Who wants to settle for that?
  • Lol my kid is almost 15...years...not months. And I'm almost back to my pre-preg body. Good for you!!
  • When I see folks that are maybe just starting out running or biking...I always think Kick-*kitten*! Good for you for getting started!
