  • I love fruit and I eat fruit, but I don't eat tons of it. With fruit you still get all the nutrients and fiber. Refined sugar has none of that.
  • I meant to respond to your extremist/alarmist comment.. I admit I am an extremist when it comes to nutrition and what I choose to eat. I'm a firm believer in all things natural, organic. I like to know where it's from and what's in it. It's the only body I'm going to get, so I make sure what I know exactly what I'm…
  • Agreed about the personal views. We disagree again about obesity and "too many calories" thing. That's another debate altogether.
  • Here: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/09/02/fructose-affects-brain-health.aspx I'm also not in the least suprised he is under investigation being that he is very critical of Big Pharma.
  • I actually did at 11:30, this was my response. "Let me be clear, I do believe sugar is a drug, like heroin is also a drug, and I believe people (myself included) suffer withdraw symptoms when they quit. Not once did I compare the severity of symptoms between the two. As I said though, I do think sugar does wreak havoc on…
  • "Fructose-fed rats showed signs of resistance to insulin, a hormone that controls your blood sugar and synaptic function in your brain. Because insulin is able to pass through your blood-brain barrier, it can trigger neurological processes that are important for learning and memory. Consuming large amounts of fructose may…
  • I do understand that Chris Kresser doesn't believe it's addictive & not everyone does, but he does make really good points about it's effects. While I still believe it's addictive, I believe good research on the subject is important and I search it out when/where I can. I think Chris Kresser's research on nutrition is…
  • Also, this is great.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MepXBJjsNxs

  • You not wanting to be bothered doing the leg work of a simple search tells me plenty. Seems you haven't done the research to comment one way or the other. Anyway.. sugar does have a physical, mental and emotional impact. Obviously there is a plethora of info out there, but here are some easy ones. Here you go... Lustig…
  • Ok, don't believe? Try giving it up. Do it for 3 days, and then tell me it was easy and that you didn't have any withdraw like symptoms & no cravings.
  • You all are crazy to think sugar addiction doesn't exist. Sugar is a drug, just like heroin is drug. Opium gets refined to morphine which is further refined to a white chemical called heroin. Sugar cane is refined down to molasses which then gets further refined down to.. yep, a white chemical called sugar. Both reek havoc…

  • I do wash my farm eggs before use, but have never and would never bleach them. I've eaten them for years and have lived to the ripe ol' age of 37 without issue. Amazing.
  • Anyone looking for the cheapest egg prices they can find, I invite to watch videos on factory farms and factory eggs. Those chicks live miserable, miserable short lives laid from chickens who live equally miserable lives. All you need to do is Google it. You'd be disgusted. Eggs from locally, pastured chickens is the only…
  • The Standard American Diet (SAD), USDA MyPlate, bad science & information regarding nutrition, etc
  • I respectfully disagree. I whole heartedly believe grains, specifically wheat are poison and slowly killing people.
  • I loved it. Eating pineapple or taking a Bromelain supplement a few days before you begin can pretty well help avoid the bruising that people are mentioning. I did gain quite a bit of strength through my upper body and core. However, I injured myself numerous times (pulled muscles in my back and tennis elbow). I finally…
  • Most people probably won't like this reply, but... I used to get a ravenous feeling mid morning accompanied by an awful "hungry headache". Once I cut out all grains and most sugars the awful headaches and starving feelings went away. Now most of my calories are from fat and protein. All the fiber and carbs I get are now…

  • I think 135 is a great goal weight. I'm 5'6 and tend to stay around 130.
  • Most of my calories are from fat. I eat 90% paleo though which many people take issue with, but it works really well for me.
  • Cool whip is as processed as they come. http://www.organicauthority.com/health/skip-the-cool-whip-you-dont-want-to-know-what-its-made-of.html Whole fat cheese is cleaner than reduced or nonfat. Raw milk cheese is even better. You can find it at Trader Joe's.
  • Sell what you can on ebay and save that money towards a new wardrobe. :)
  • I think 80/20 is perfectly acceptable! I think the thing I noticed the most when I cut out the grains/sugar was that my dreaded "food baby" or bloat in my abdomen just disappeared.
  • Just to clarify, I'm paleo so the majority of my macros are from fat. My numbers came back perfectly normal at my annual physical.
  • Saturated fat isn't bad for you.
  • I've been strict paleo for a while and find that I never need to count count calories now. I don't get that starving feeling anymore with the "hungry headache". I find that cutting out all sugar & processed foods make it much easier to plan meals, and I never have to think about what I'm going to eat because I already know…
  • Fruit. It's nature's candy.
