  • I eat these Mission Low Carb tortillas as well and they have minimal effect on blood sugar. I can manage T2D and keep my A1c under 5.5 if my daily net carbs stay under 30 grams per day. I also occasionally eat the Keto bread from Walmart and it’s fine as well. It’s much easier to manage T2D with diet by having these low…
  • In terms of managing T2D for me is all about net carbs. In terms of weight loss it’s calories and what works best for me is IF. I have coffee with cream and MCT Oil in the AM, the MCT Oil helps with hunger and then usually a salad for lunch (with chicken thigh) and then a big dinner, pork steak (or chicken thigh or…
  • I recently discovered a new keto treat in Lowrey’s microwave Pork Rinds.

  • I’ve been on Keto for a year now. I started to control T2D without insulin. I’m BG is now at non-diabetic levels, I’ve lost about 65 lbs and my cholesterol dropped significantly (probably from the weight loss) but one year a I’m pretty happy with the results and so is my doctor.
  • I find 16:8 IF and Keto is pretty natural. I am rarely hungry in the AM on Keto so it’s just a natural cycle. I have breakfast maybe once a week to shake it up a bit.
  • My experience after 8 months on Keto is that weight loss isn’t linear. It’s more like lose a pound, gain a pound, gain another pound and then lose 4 or 5 pounds... I also find that often eating too few calories stalls weight loss and sometimes I see bigger losses after a higher calorie day. I can’t do cheat days personally…
  • Hang in there Nrs. I’m sure you can get back on track after doing so well last year. I found that I hit a bit of a plateau this year as well. I haven’t increased carbs but I did lower my daily calorie goal by a few hundred calories and that helped. It’s certainly slower but I think that’s because I’m getting closer to GW.…

  • I’ve tried any Keto breads but am curious. My fear is that it might cause me to crave breads which I did for awhile but eventually got past. That said would love to have more food choices. Interested to hear feedback.
  • My daughter has had epilepsy for 11 years. It was super hard for a few years but thankfully they found the right combination of meds and she has been seizure free for a few years. Nothing is harder as a parent than to hold your child during a seizure in my experience. Good luck.
  • Awesome Paul!!! I had a similar experience where I’ve taken my A1c from 10.2 this past June to 5.3 in October and should be even lower next month. Keto diet has been super helpful in managing blood glucose and losing nearly 70 lbs is a nice side effect.
  • Sugar-Free Coffeemate. Tried dozens of other things but I didn’t like them as well. I still can easily stay under 20 net carbs per day and I don’t seem to see anything negative from a few TBSP per day.
  • Define low blood sugar. I routinely eat only in the evening and will typically have BG in the 80s during the day but don’t correlate that with migraines. If BG is below 70 I’d be concerned and probably eat something to raise it as a T2D.
  • I’m Keto typically under 20 net grams of carbs per day that’s mostly meat but I do eat cheese, broccoli, cauliflower and occasionally a salad. I also really like Coffeemate SugarFree Hazelnut creamer + MCT oil in my coffee with this I’m also mostly OMAD. Some say the calories in my coffee is a second meal but it works for…
  • I weigh myself daily at the same time and can see a 3 lb swing day to day, I think it’s a combination of water, previous day calories and the time eaten. The downside of a weekly weigh-in is if one week you are on the low end because you are a little dehydrated and hadn’t eaten for 16 hours and the following week you are…
  • In my experience as a diabetic I find there is a direct relationship between carbs, exercise and blood glucose. I find the same relationship with weight loss. If I exercise regularly I may eat a little more but not nearly as much as the exercise burns off. Thus I find it easier to lose weight in periods of regular…

  • Keto strips go bad easily. If you don’t tightly close the lid after each use they stop working. I went thru 3 bottles in a month. The new bottle would show that I was in Ketosis but within a few days to a week they’d show nothing. Buy a new bottle and repeat. I don’t even bother now with the strips.
  • Maybe your calories are too low. I’ve experienced this myself and found I lost weight by increasing calories, especially combined with some exercise.
  • Dollar General or Kroger. It’s around $4.50 per can and the can is useful for bacon grease and such.
  • My tastes are simple, I like Cafe Bustelo coffee with SF Hazelnut Coffeemate Creamer and MCT oil. I realize SF Coffeemate creamer isn’t ideal but I really like it and I don’t use all that much and it fits in my daily carb limit. I also like Benner Iced Tea bags from Aldi that I brew in hot water and pour over ice. That’s…
  • Thanks for doing this.
  • Just watched this and found it fascinating. Thanks for sharing. Had no idea how many different conditions are improved by restricting carbs. I also learned more about how to refine my own diet and will be curious to see how that plays out. As Type 2 Diabetic with a father that is T2D and had a kidney transplant, a sister…
  • That’s pretty much exactly what I did. 20 net grams of carbs and 1,800 calories per day. I started in mid June and have lost about 50 lbs on Keto. I also am Type 2 Diabetic so I don’t really cheat in terms of sweets but I keep a regular workout routine. I wouldn’t worry too much about loose skin. The body adapts…
  • Eelko - thanks for the reply. I bought some of the Fat Bombs from the store but they kinda suck. I don’t really care for the sugar alcohol taste. I saw an interesting recipe from Emma and maybe I’ll get the gumption to test my culinary skills and try to make a batch. The reality is most of my Keto meal prep is grilled…
  • NRS- thanks for the reply, Maybe this is nuts but I am somewhat fearful of letting my calories go too low and slowing my metabolism or causing a plateau. At some point I expect to plateau and just have a month or so where my decides it needs to settle in at this new weight. At least I’ve experienced that in the past…
  • Thanks
  • I assumed you’d been doing Keto longer as I learned a lot from you...
