  • I had my son at 50 as well. He is 9 now. Always trying to stay on top physically so he can have an regular active dad. It's a blast isn't it?
  • http://nutritiondata.self.com/ Gives you extensive nutritional data on any food. Never failed to find what I was looking for here.
  • Fewer running days, which means a few less miles per week gets me more time to rest the legs. Additional resistance work to stay stonger. Creating some more flexibility with some Yoga. I do not care much about the clock now. I run almost strickly by feel now. During races I run as hard as my mind and body say I can. Then…
  • With all the things you have listed that are doing physically, it sounds to me like your are over training (over working). Cut back on something and concentrate on your running.
  • I have never been an earbud fan. Always used a sport headphone that a headband. But I was recently talked into trying Yurbuds. Very nice, comforatale and they stay in. They allow outside sound in but have a great sound that is better than any i have used. This is the pair I use:…
  • The Shuffle is the way to go. Clip it to the back of my hat or the brim. Weighs about an ounce and is the size of a couple of small postage stamps.

  • Full-blooded Texan from San Antonio.
  • Chances are you may have to reevaluate your intake needs. The main reason most people hit a plateau is that thay have lost weight and their caloric intake requirements changed but they do not adjust what they are taking in. You have already lost over 16 pounds. I do not know what you starting weight was but as anyone gets…
  • As an alternative to gels I have tried taking the small pouches of "mashed" food. You can find them with the fruit or the baby food at most good grocery stores. Pretty much just mashed real food. Makes it easy to get into your system and also quickly absorbed by the body. Nothing like real carbs and natural sugar as…

  • 1. Workout 6 days 2. Keep my calories @ about 10,500 but increase my protein to about 130 grams a day This should be easy!
  • You can add me if you like. I run all the time and am also a huge Van Morrison fan, or is you screen name just a coincidence?
  • I'm good. Trying to increse my workouts form 5 to 6 days a week. This might help keep me motivated to do so.
  • Runner here. Can't have too many running buddies

  • I run. Just finished a busy fall/winter race schedule. A bunch of half marathons and 10k. A brutal 25k trail run, half marathon trail run and a few 10 mile and 10k trail runs. Getting hotter here in South Texas so cutting back on anything long. Settling in on my summer run routine of 3-4 5 milers a week. Anyone can add me…

  • Welcome. It is never too late to get back into shape. I am 58. And I have a 9 year old son. I have been running and lifting for many years. But like most guys there have been times when things were not as good as they could be. The time I spent on the East Coast between 2004 and 2010 left me with about 30 extra pounds.…
  • Way to keep at at. 60 days is a great start and you should be proud of the work you've done so far. Good luck on your speech. I have given a few talks in my life, but never really been that good at it.
  • Always good to hear from a fellow Texan! I rode for years. And will again someday soon. Good luck!
  • Who can't use an extra freind or two?
  • Perky Turkey Jerky is really the best. Not sure how widely it is sold. No nitrates, or other artificial additives, great taste. It is expensive however.
  • Been running for years. Just finished a great winter season where I got in a few halfs and a 25K. As it gets hotter i will try to run more trails and stay in the shade.

  • New friends are a good thing.
  • Welcome from a fellow Texan here in South Texas (San Antonio)!
  • 58 and working it hard. Always looking for some more friends my age who are working hard and eating right.
  • Fox News did not conduct the study. Researchers at the University of Southern California conducted the study. The important issue here is the emphasis on "large" amounts of animal protein. Additionally, as I mentioned earlier, they did not see the same harmful results when it came to "large" amounts of plant based proteins.
  • San Antonio born. Work out 5-6 times a week and love to hit the Texas trails!

  • Let me get this straight. The LAW of thermodynamics is a load of crap. The fact that a LAW is scientifically/mathmatically "proven" concept is irrelevant. And the scientifc fact that a calorie is a precise measurment of energy is also irrelevant. OK. Got it. Proceed.
  • I am retired AF. However, my spouse is active duty and preparring for a deployment on 5 Mar. Her second time. So I have experienced the deployment from both a members and spouses perspective.
  • 58 and running as much as I can. Love the trails and since early December I have completed 3 Half Marathons, a 25k, a 10-miler, and a couple of 10k. I have a very good year and have seem some imporovements. Training on all the hills where I live has helped quite a bit. Looking forward to a lot more runs!
  • Also trying to lose the last few pounds and strip some body fat. Always willing to listen and talk about food and exercise. I always log except for Sunday as I believe stepping away from the log is a good thing once and a while!
