It's just food. If you need a cheap, convenient way to hit your macro's then protein shakes are good. If you're just as happy chowing down on chicken, tuna and eggs then do that.

True, but we spend less now on our food that we ever have. Perhaps we should be prioritising spending more on what we put into our body. Sounds like the bread and dairy aren't doing much for you. You need to be strict with your diet and make sure you cut the offending foods out and see if you feel better. A guy at work has a severe gluten allergy and it's crazy the amount of stuff with gluten in it (worcester sauce has some!)

I think you shouldn't be able to smoke in any public area unless it's been specifically ok'd for smoking. Walking past someone smoking in the park and having to chow down on that smoke isn't right.

Are you consistently and accurately logging? And still not losing fat @ a calorie deficit? Drop calories by another 100-150 per day. Report back in 3 weeks. Still no loss? Then if you're adamant your logging properly it's time for a conversation with the doctor.

Arnie started weight training @ 15. I've got 2 boys and i'll be happy with them doing bodyweight/gymnastics work until they're 15 then they can start weightlifting. Why not set him a challenge. Once he can do 100 pressups and 20 pullups without pausing then he can have weights.
