Twelve is prime time for body image issues so, no, I would not ask her to use the treadmill. I wouldn't even mention her weight. Just get her involved in something - ask her to go for walks with you, sign her up for a sport for the 'social aspect'. TBH, I didn't ask my kids if they wanted to be involved in sports. I told…

I eat that for breakfast.

You lose weight by creating a caloric deficit.
-
I'm eating according to my goals.
-
Yep - it's a thing.
-
Motivation comes and goes - you need to rely on habit.

I would imagine that is only because animals lack the dexterity of milking other animals, although I did have a dog who nursed orphaned kittens. And almonds are not made for people. They're just one more food source that we've cultivated over eons of existence. Like cow's milk.
-
I don't drink almond milk because I'm not an almond.

If I remember correctly, I believe I heard angels sing.

Another heavy lifter here.

"Woosh" as in a sudden loss of water weight? Sure. As in what is shown in that diagram? No.
-
If you are eating at a deficit, your muscle gains will be fairly insignificant (non-existent for a non-noob). Look at trends - I can easily gain 4lbs of water weight over night after a particularly gruelling weight session. It goes away.
-
Honestly, a large part of the reason I exercise is so that I can eat more and avoid hunger.
-
Just added yoga and strength training? - my bet is on water retention in your muscles.
-
It happens. I hit maintenance and 4 days later I was down another 3lbs. <Woosh>

Well, vomiting will definitely make you lose weight but you're much better off, healthwise, keeping your food down. Green tea is not a magic weight loss elixir. If it makes you sick, don't drink it.

Magnesium has helped me immensely!

Deadlifts then split squats.

Ageism, sure but not discrimination.

The poster didn't say that being thin was unhealthy but the obsession itself is unhealthy.

I've had a fitbit One for 3 years now. I log my exercise calories (as determined by my HRM) separately, and I do it in the fitbit app. When you do that, the calories that are determined by your fitbit for that period of time are overridden.
-
HRM burns may still be estimates, but they are better estimates.
-
Yes, start from day 1.
-
I'm pretty much where you are - 5'6" 121lbs. I'm eating maintenance and lifting heavy.
-
Your example doesn't negate my point at all, which was the whole sentence. Exercise will not make you lose weight but saying that it won't help you lose weight, is BS.
-
Won't help you lose weight? CI<CO is a two-sided equation. While you don't need exercise to lose weight saying that it won't help you lose weight is BS.
-
Calorie deficit. Heavy lifting. My best advice is to start three months ago. ;)

Reading this while eating a chicken burrito bowl.

I lost 15lbs which is everything I wanted to lose.

People have fast days for various reasons so, of course it's possible. Is it sustainable? No.
