AKA 'toning'. I would say that most people who ask about 'toning' have no idea of how to get that look that refer to as toned, but losing fat and gaining muscle or recomp is pretty much it.

I have no idea which would burn more calories (assuming that's what you're asking) but I would do heavy lifting over Beach Body, any day. When should you start? Yesterday.

I'm eating at maintenance and lifting heavy. My butt has definitely gotten bigger (YAY!) If you are eating at a deficit, no.

Echoing what others have said - keep lifting, and up your weights/lower your reps! You won't bulk unless you are eating at a surplus

I've noticed that it's harder to shave my legs - too many corners and dips.

You can target the underlying muscle but, breast tissue is not muscle so it cannot be 'toned'. Breast tissue is largely made up of fat cells so, if you want to decrease your breast size, eat fewer calories than you burn.

If you are finding it difficult to complete the last two reps, you are using the perfect weight. When it's no longer difficult, that's when you increase.

Did you go over your allotted calories by 7000? That's basically what it would take to gain two pounds of fat. No? Then it's mostly water weight and you should get back on track while you wait it out.

The 'toning' part (aka maximizing muscle retention while losing fat) will require weight training so, I disagree with your pal and think you're more-or-less on the right track.

No, you're not an idiot. I love MFP, but their unconfirmed food entries can really mess up your tracking. The issue is theirs, not yours.

For weight loss, yes, but a 12-year-old girl really needs good nutrition too. It would help to set her up for a lifetime of healthy choices.

I weigh every day and my scale automatically submits my weight to MFP via WiFi.

I more or less agree but, if I just sit on my couch, no macro combination in the world is going to make me look good in the mirror. ;)

Most likely glycogen and water retention for muscle repair. It's gotten to the point where I can predict the weight fluctuation based entirely on when I exercise.

I don't. If I relied on motivation, I would never work out. Instead, I've created a habit and I get to the gym whether I'm motivated to do so or not. No options given.
