Lose Weight and Tone

Hey Guys! I had previously lost about 80 pounds thanks to MFP, but fell of the wagon and never got back on!. I have gained 50 pounds back and I am ready to get this off! My husband and I are both wanting to lose weight and tone.I am hoping to lose a lot of this weight by august before we go on our family cruise We bought a bench press set ( with weights) and elliptical. I also have started Julian Michael s 30 day shed videos. We are typically doing 3 days of weights and 3 days of cardio and I am adding 5 days of the 20 minute video. Do you think this will be effective? One of my pals told me to focus on cardio because I am aiming to lose a lot of weight by August. What do ya'll think! I am open to anything

That can work. Weight loss is from a calorie deficit.. so exercise really isn't needed for weight loss. For fitness, though, it's good to do both strength training and cardio.. something along the lines of what you're currently doing. Just avoid doing too much too soon.0

The 'toning' part (aka maximizing muscle retention while losing fat) will require weight training so, I disagree with your pal and think you're more-or-less on the right track.0

Both strength training and cardio. Pick a regimen you can continue long term so you dont get burned out and its great you have hubby to keep each other motivated!! Remember your calorie deficit is key. Good luck!!!0

Thank you guys So much!! I have been kicking butt that past few days and I feel GREAT! no movement on scale yet..but I am trying to be patient. I am staying at or under my calories everyday! You all are amazing!!! THANK YOU0
