  • There was a post on here with pics some time ago of someone who had had the surgery done on arms iirc. The scars were very off-putting. It's good news if it takes 2 years for your skin to rebound. That gives lots of time for sober reflection!
  • I'm 5 foot 6 and 161 today. You know that thing about frame and wrist measurement? Well, when I was bigger (around 250), I couldn't circle my wrist with my other hand, and I thought I had a large frame. Now, I can circle it with some substantial overlap. Am I still large framed? Probably not, but this underscores the fact…
  • hm.. looks like the answer might be sleep: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Demystifying_Depression/The_Stress_System
  • Daily, but I think I've figured out why those little gains happen. Here's my list (still being compiled, feel free to add yours): 1. That time of the month. 2. Before that time of the month. 3. After that time of the month. 4. Extra salt/sodium consumption. 5. Lack of water (8 glasses likely isn't enough btw). 6. Lack of…
  • Ack that sounds unhealthy! :noway:

  • I had a Turtle last night, but it was 90 cals I set aside for it, and that's usually because there's a PMS factor involved which would result in bodily injury to somebody other than me if I don't get it  . If I go berserk for some reason, and eat something really bad (something oily is the worst), I "buy" the…
  • I agree, expensive, but not terribly sodium laden and it tastes like "real" food. The bars are good if you have to eat and run. The GoLean is also good, but I'm not sure I'd eat it without skim milk.
  • I've been losing relatively slowly and I've lost 89 pounds since Feb 2010. As many of you know, it's a lot easier to lose weight fast in the beginning when you have a bunch to lose, but that the process slows down the smaller you get. I have loose skin and although it's like being a partly deflated balloon, I'm pretty…
  • Want to go out for a burger? The Wendy's Junior Bacon Cheeseburger tastes just like the big one but only 350 cal. And don't order fries with that. Ice Cream? Try low fat frozen yogurt. My favourite is Chapman's Cappucino with Dark Chocolate Flakes (100 cal per half cup). My favourite cookies? Lu Pim's Raspberry, which has…
  • Feh internet glitch causes double post. Nothin to see here.
  • I would like to spot gain my bosom back *nod*. If you figure out how to -really- do that short of surgery, please let me know  Edit: Of course, it would have helped if I had one in the first place!
  • How about 1200 cals of salted peanuts in a day? The protein's good but the salt will send you up the scale without question, even if only temporarily. Don't mind me.. I'm grumpy because I'm up a pound from eating at a restaurant TWICE yesterday (belated Father's Day lunch and a birthday dinner), even though I ate "healthy"…
  • I finally decided... 135. It took me a long time to decide on that, but there's a reason why this is an important number. 135 was what I weighed at the doctor's office when I was 11. It was also what I weighed when I was forced to go on my first diet, again at age 11. This was the weight I was at when I was first taught to…
  • Pretty hard to drink soft drinks when you have to drink 8 glasses plus of water every day. That's why I gave it up. Re chemicals... we're made of them. My chemistry teacher in high school said "don't do drugs kids" before it was a popular thing to say, but he gave a real reason for it. They're made up of organic chemicals…
  • I have. They're touting acai I think. So what. They say you shouldn't eat bananas, presumably because they cause you to retain water (never mind that potassium is good for you) and that they are a binding agent (if constipation is your undoing, so are bananas). It isn't anything noteworthy, and some of it is wrong and/or…
  • You might not believe that it can be addictive, but... celery. *crunchcrunchcrunchcrunchcrunch* and it makes your mouth feel clean, cleaner than toothpaste, even. Also, it goes very well with low fat yogurt salad dressing as a dip. Mirii
  • My office just went to hell in a handcart and I had to fire my employer (yes, really). I have had less than five weeks to decide whether to work for someone else or myself, look at leasehold space for me and my assistant, order equipment AND move, all while running a law practice. The move has taken 3 days and there's a…
  • I'm so dull... I'd say pay down your mortgage first... or credit cards... Mirii
  • If I get on the scale right after getting up, I weigh about 1 lb more than if I wait a half hour, shower or not. Humans need rituals, especially when what they're doing is boring as all hell, like following an "eating regime" (note I did not use the D word). All hail the routine... erm... ritual. It gets you there! Mirii
  • I had my gallbladder removed decades ago. I still can't eat fish and chips. Well... to be fair, I can eat fish and chips, but if I do, it's a very quick and uncomfortable trip to the washroom right after.
  • A guinea pig.... sitting on a gold brick. Because A gold brick sitting on a guinea pig would just be messy and gross *nod*
  • Hi there Feel free to add me as a friend if you like  Mirii

  • Handy hint on the Lean Cuisines: if the chicken (or tomatoes, for that matter) taste or smell at all metallic, don't eat it. The "gone bad" smell doesn't smell rotten, just weirdly metallic. That goes for any processed food. That's not going to help on the "bits of plastic in the alfredo" though heh.
  • Well, I know I'll be on MFP the rest of my life, and I don't have to pay for it. Could you justify being on WW for the rest of your life and pay for it too? Even at your goal weight?
  • I'd say don't lose too quickly. I'm down 74 and it's not too bad, but I need to tone too.
  • lol I get plateaux on the 10's... 200.. 190... 180... and waiting for the next one at 170. I'm actually looking forward to that one.
  • Mine stayed B's. But now, over 70 lbs down, I'm pretty good with that, especially after I read about you ladies who would prefer smaller ones. The band size changed for me too. I'm down from 44 to 38.
  • I add in my morning latte because it's mostly milk and even skim milk has nutritional components. I don't add in my Splenda-sweetened green tea, though, because it doesn't have that. I gave up Diet Coke but I didn't record that when I did drink it... same deal. I'd be surprised if many here drank "sugar" sodas. We're a…
  • You are such an inspiration! People (other than here, mind you) just don't understand the kind of dedication it takes to change your whole life in the way you have. I totally understand what it's like to look in the mirror and not see the changes, but let people take pictures of you and the comparison of those will help…
  • When I look at my weigh scale and its BF% calculator, even though I paid quite a lot of money for it, I know for a fact that it lies to me (different numbers even 1/2 an hour apart!) and that if I were to calculate BF it should be with an expert. There are experts out there if you have the money to pay for them (lots…
