thanks - Doc did recommend going GF - so I am. Started two days ago. There's a whole aisle at the grocery store with all things GF. Really it's not going to be as hard as I thought, because I generally try to eat pretty healthy. It's just the bread and pasta withdrawal - and premade seasoning mixes oh and soups...ugh. BUT…

Oh whoa - no totally not at you, sorry for the miscommunication...I get the quote and reply thing mixed up...was replying to RoseTears...my bad....

I'm REALLY REALLY considering the gluten free route...just seems like a big pain...at least at first and I love breads and pastas...and oh yeah, cookies and cakes and desserts....guess I'll discuss with the doctor tomorrow ((((((((((((((((SIGH)))))))))))))

Good points...thanks...he works for me, he works for me, HE works FOR ME....got it

I'm an insane muncher of all things in reach that are sweet during the week just prior...and then BAM it's like a switch turns off and I'm pretty good until the next month. BROWNIES - when my husband sees the box come out....he KNOWS what's next

no...don't do that...sorry I've been away. Finally got a doctor's appointment Monday - just need the courage to stand up to him and not take everything he says as fact just because he is a doctor. Still not sleeping for crap most nights...thats my biggest problem right not that I can easily identify and the always being…

What is the conflicting information? I've never run across anything that relates coffee drinking to hypothyroid or hashimotos. curious...

I'm in the same boat - sent a friend request.

Awesome - I rode 8.4 miles this morning...but walking a mile and biking a mile are two totally different challenges. I think maybe 3 biking miles per 1 walking mile is a fair trade??? yes, no, maybe?

I've lost almost 20 lbs - I have not been consistent in calorie counting for the last several months - but when I was exercising and logging regularly; I ALWAYS ate back my exercise calories - especially when I was down to a whopping 1200 calorie alottment per day.

Doctor appointment was cancelled last week by the doctor....but they failed to notify me until I walked in the door - GRRR - needless to say...I didn't get to discuss with him my concerns. So I need to reschedule it. I'm feeling good, though for the most part. A little trouble falling asleep last night - but I think it…

DEFINATELY get a second opinion - as stated by sjmn - the new range - put out several years ago for doctors to follow for TSH is 0.3-3 - and most people with hypo feel better the closer they are to the lower end of that range. Low T3 is another sign of being hypo and you are at the very bottom of the indicated range.. For…

Convenience and time and I don't know what I'm doing - I recently started lifting following guidance from the New rules of lifting for Women - where basicly they debunk the myth that if we lift - we will become all big and bulky and manly looking - totally not true. I would prefer to work out alone, at my home, at my…

Same doc i've had for a few years...he seems to listen well - we'll see.

Hi everyone. Slept pretty good last night - which is excellent since it's so rare. Seeing doc today - hoping he will listen to my concerns and not tell me I have anxiety and depression...because frankly...I just need sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi again - I too posted my "hola I am here" message in the wrong thread...but anywho...I was diagnosed at age 19 during a physical for college after a very serious case of mono. I look back now and see all of the symptoms in pictures, weight gain - even though I was always athletic, chubby face, dry brittle nails and skin,…

THANK YOU for that info. I've researched Armour in the past and read a lot about natural vs. synthetic... never heard of Westhroid before - just have to get the ole doc on board.
-
Hi everyone - thank you RoseTears for inviting me in. I'm hypo with Hashimotos for 20 years now. I was diagnosed at age 19 shortly after a severe case of Mono in college during which I was hospitalized for about a week - which I truly believe triggered the whole thing. I needed this thread and found it just by luck because…

Usually at the end of the run - at least for me lately. Some days I could run forever, other days, it's painful to take 3 steps. BUT - I'm always glad I did it when I'm done.

I think people notice, but don't always know what to say or if they should say anything.. I've read that at about 8 lbs or more is when it becomes noticeable on most people - even just a bit - they may notice but not really be sure and don't want to offend by asking. People who don't see you everyday will notice more and…

Jillian Michaels has some really great strength building DVD programs - all you need is a pair of hand weights.

does your college have a gym...if so use it..if not the great outdoors can be your gym
-
I sweat like a man in 100% humidity when I work out....and I DONT CARE - its not about what other people think - you are doing this for YOU. I don't really use a public gym - except the one at work - but I get in and out - I'm not there for social hour, I'm there to work out dangit. When I see someone just starting out - i…

You have TONS of time to train and since you are already an experienced runner - you will do fine. I read a book called marathon rookie - it helps for half marathon's too - they have a website too...marathonrookie.com or something like that. You can find all sorts of training plans online - 10 week, 12 week, beginner,…

yep - but those symptoms SHOULD get better as your treatment progresses and it comes under control. I say SHOULD because that can take time and the right doctor/patient combination. I have been hypo since I was 19 about 20 years now. My weight has been up and down, but more because of eating/exercise habits than the…

Yup - me too. you have to be consistent. I have Hashimoto's and have been hypo for 20 years. I would recommend a book called Living Well with Hypothyroidism as well. It gives a lot of good tips. Stay active and eat healthy - really truly that is the only way to make a permanent change. Do I go off the wagon...yep...who…
