Whilst correct, it can be argued that a system affected by a virus will have a lowered immune response towards bacteria, thus making secondary bacterial infection more likely. But mostly, I love the word "obesogen". Even if it's real, I will never be able to take that seriously! I actually clicked away from the thread the…

On the medication side of things, it might be worth having a balanced conversation with your doctor - just because the medications are antidepressants, it doesn't mean they won't work for anxiety / stress. I am on antidepressants for that very reason. As for the side effects, it really depends on how long you were taking…

To be fair, my dad DID say "you're getting FAT!" *pokes my muffintop* So it does happen, but no, that didn't feel good either lmao.

wait, these make you lose weight 4x quicker by making you hotter? Heck I'm in /sarcasm Interesting marketing ploy.

totally agree with Brian ^^. As for some ideas of "fun" exercising, how about something you can do at home, no excuses of not getting around to going out etc. I like the fitness games you can get on the wii - but if you don't have a console, how about checking youtube out for some vids to follow... I just lost 40 minutes…

You can add the iceland ones to the database, that way you get accurate calorie count, and you help out anyone else that might like to look for the iceland drumsticks in the future! (I found a lot of iceland stuff isn't on there, so had to do the same the other day by adding their lean frozen mince)

The recipe sounds fine, though I agree some proper nutritional info would be of benefit. I think the thing that is coming across as objectionable is it seems to be marketed in a similar way to the wonderful "cabbage soup diet", where you limit yourself to ONLY this and little else (in this case it is salad it would seem)…

Look up the Couch to 5k programme, download the podcasts to your mp3 player if you have one, and get going! Oh, and read BerryH's tips for runners - it's a blog post lurking about here somewhere, absolutely priceless info! Happy running!

Ebay's a good bet if you don't mind second hand - I got a F4 for a fiver, sold as spares/repairs cos the chest strap had died (watch is fine) Even if I bought a new chest strap, that would have been 11 quid (ebay again!), but I just did a bit of clever engineering and worked out how to change the battery in the unit :)

I think that's pretty much everyone's experience of the 20 minuter hehe! I found myself willing week 6 away so I could get right back to just doing "long runs" each session :)

Yep, well being English I'm quite happy to differentiate between a rubber wheel, and to fatigue. No real need for the patronising spelling correction! However you made a very good point on squeezing not being a good guide for correct pressure, so thanks for that :flowerforyou:

The air compressor I was using has a guage built into it (and I assume it's accurate) - if it was a hand pump job I think it would feel very hard to force more air in by hand, but of course battery powered compressors don't have that to worry about! I'm just scared that it'll be too much based on how the tyres already feel…

I used to love WWF wrestling (yup, THAT long ago) and Kane was a favourite wrestler - the ferret is after my pet ferret Loki. The joining of the two into kaned_ferret is thanks to Loki raiding a can of beer at a houseparty, managing to open it and getting, well, kaned. Luckily it was only a small amount, still, I was not…

Seahorse a 9 minute mile IS fast! I've been through loads of the Whitstable Parkruns results pages and they rarely have a runner that finishes later than 36 minutes! One day that might be me, but not JUST yet lmao!
-
I have just noticed looking through the parkrun news that my uncle actually volunteers as a pacer lol. I just hate the idea of being last by a gap - I can handle last if I'm around / near others, but knowing everyone else has been standing around for 10+ minutes, so they will naturally ALL be looking at me when I cross the…

You could also have uneven muscle tone due to favouring one side or the other? I have noticed that my muffintop is in much better shape on my right hand side because I used to clean kennels with a broom daily but I never switched sides as to which hand I directed the broom in, resulting in uneven muscles so therefore an…

we make our own exercise to log it generally. If you have a hrm you can get an idea of your burn, but if not zumbacalories.com isn't a bad guideline on burn rate - but generally I think people opt for low or mid intensity on there even if they're working at high intensity so that the estimated burn isn't over.

only 7 lbs is you weighing 7lbs less than you did! And soon that will be 14lbs less, and so on, so keep it up! I know how you feel, I have now lost 17lbs and don't feel, or look any different, but I'm now determined to keep on going until I DO lol - so just be faithful to yourself and MFP, and keep on seeing the…

Welcome :) Once you've been around and had a nosey at all the fantastic, informative posts that are around here, you'll realise that unfortunately losing 15lbs in one month isn't going to be possible, particularly as it's your last 15! My advice is follow MFP's recommendations, they do work well. It won't do you any good…

I say keep at it (so long as you're not physically hurting yourself of course!), plenty of people have started c25k at your weight and higher, so don't let it be a reason to stop you! I know what you mean about the slow feeling, I'm in week 7 and I still feel so slow, and my "brisk walk" stride is longer than my jogging…

Could just be a pulled muscle, could be something more serious like a hernia. We have absolutely no way of knowing, so my advice is please see a doctor just to be on the safe side! Good luck and speedy recovery :flowerforyou:

The shop at DW fitness sorted me out with a pair of Asics 2160's - loving the memory foam and support, such an amazing difference!
-
Yep, I'm at week 7 and I can honestly say my only limits are placed by my legs - cardio wise I can keep going indefinitely (that's how I feel anyway!), but boy do my legs ache from it! I have just been powering on through, and it is getting marginally easier each time - the first 5 minutes are killer, each and every time…

I also read a little further, and it turns out she "gave up looking for work after she'd had her first child and applied for 15 jobs" WOW. I'm unemployed and I'm applying for that many jobs at least a WEEK. There is no fixing this persons Lazy. The family are on more in benefits than I was earning before I lost my job. Now…

I think it's all been said well by others here, but I just wanted to add in my enthusiasm for "exercise calories". when I first started, I found it hard to stay within my 1350 budget, especially as I took like a glass (or three!) of wine of an evening! But gradually over the past couple of months, I have upped my exercise…

Looks like it could possibly do something for abs perhaps? Hell, whatever she does it must be working, she's not exactly weedy or flabby looking lol
-
pffft, I AM a fat runner, and I think it's awesome that I CAN run now! In fact seeing as we have more weight to propel forward, it could be said that we work harder  And because I love running so much, I love seeing other runners, nomatter what size or speed. Just keep going!

as long as it has been kept properly refrigerated in the mean time, and is cooked thoroughly, it should be fine.

Your daily activity level will more than account for those numbers logged on your pedometer. To be honest, I think when it says "mailman" as an active job, it's talking about the guys that do it on foot or on bike for 8+ a day, not the ones that drive! I would drop my activity level if I were you to save from…

I picked up the habit of eating nuts and seeds as part of my journey, and it has worked so well for me at not only staving off hunger (they give you plenty of energy and make you feel satisfied for ages!) but also learning the art of portion control (much easier to make yourself aware when you know just how bad a calorie…
