I just realized (2 months late!) that someone posted the CNN article of my weight loss story here on MFP. I'm humbled! Let me say this... MFP was a huge part of my success. Here's wishing each of you the very best on your journey! I'm still here over 950+ days straight of logging... Never quit!

Hey thanks! Sure thing: Highest weight: 343 Goal Weight: 195 Current Weight: 192 Might decide to end at 190ish... Height: 6'1 1/2 Again... thanks to all for the love!!

Wow. Now THAT is a compliment. Many thanks to you, Elisa!

In the beginning I would be on the treadmill killing myself thinking "I can do this... Boots to *kitten*, all day... all night." It worked.
-
Wow... I'm humbled by all of the kind words, thanks all! It's strange because when you've lost this much weight you still see yourself as the old "you" from time to time. It is only now that I'm starting to recognize myself for who I am now. It's like... someone would take a picture of me now and I'd do a double take and…

I am also proud to say that I've lost more weight than my wife and daughter combined. Kinda weird... haha!

Beyond being overweight for most of my life, I had gone through some extremely difficult times personally. There was one thing that I could control and that was myself. I wanted to regain control of my health. Also, my daughter was 2 at the time and I had already lost my father from health issues. I wanted to be here for a…

Nevermind... got it. :-)

Clearly I know how to lose weight but suck at posting pics... little anyone?! :-)

Hi there. 545 days and counting. (So to speak...)

I know what Cortizone does. It numbs your nerves so you feel nothing. Too many cortizone shots can kill nerves forever. At 25 it's a bad idea. I'm 31 and just spoke with my doc about a shot in my knee for an upcoming race...they're advice? "Run through it."
-
I agree that a podiatrist idea is a good one. Hold off on cortizone and other injections until you've tried EVERYTHING else. You're way too young for that stuff. Also, don't buy the $500 inserts. The Superfeet I mentioned earlier cost $35 on amazon, it they don't help you're not out anything. They're lifesavers for me.
-
How are your shoes? I find that I have to wear supportive shoes 24/7. Even inside I wear crocks with arch support as my indoor "slippers." I also use Superfeet insoles in all of my shoes (greens are most popular). Also, when working out you need properly fitted supportive shoes. For running some examples would include:…

Yeah boy! Half marathon in August.

Brian, You and I are very similar. I'm 31, 6'1, starting weight of 343 and I've lost 145lbs. I came in under 200lbs for the first time since 8th grade just last weekend. My goal weight is 195. I picked 195 because I want to have a 5 pound buffer to 200. My proper weight for BMI is also under 189, but I don't care about…

That seeing my success has motivated other to lose weight too. What else is there to say? Lead by example.

Really? The only way? I had a grilled McWrap the other day with 2 side salads and 1 balsamic dressing. 435 calories for all of it. It was McAwesome and cost me less than $3 because of the promo they had. I'll be back to get another one. To each thier own. People need to chill on the hating.

He's a guy. Guys love challenges and goals. Get him an iPod touch and download Nike +. Or... if he's already got a smartphone download Nike + on it. Challenge him to run his fastest mile, his longest run, etc, etc. It will motivate him. Don't give up.

The Garbage Plate. Literally the best all-in-one meal ever. Rochester, NY's own. I used to be in a club in college called the "Cardiac Club." You had to eat 30 plates in 30 days. Plus a breakfast plate and one of the old donuts from Nicks... Ahh the memories...

I just made the banana-nut ones. Used Body Fortress vanilla whey, computed the recipe in MFP and 99.9 cals each! Seriously.... These muffins are legit. Make them... NOW!

Bumpage.

It gets better. First workout can take up to 2 weeks to totally heal. Don't skip the following weeks workout even if you still feel it. BOOTS 2 *kitten*.

Anyone have a reliable method of calculating maintenance cals? Besides Fat 2 Fit?
-
Cool. It's actually harder to figure out maintenance cals than I thought it would be. I did the fat2fitradio BMR calc and also tried the current weight x 15 as the above article suggests. I think I'll just take a happy medium. Of course MFP gives a total different #. Oh well...
